Wow... Monday Night RAW surged with viewers yesterday as the post-Royal Rumble RAW did a 3.6 in the first hour and a 3.5 rating for the second for a 3.55 or rounded 3.6 rating for this week's show. Wowzer...

This proves a few things:

(1) Triple H is still a draw. I'll give the devil his due, as he can pop a rating when he DOES SOMETHING INTERESTING. Typically, HHH wears out his welcome, but this week was hyped in advance for his return.

(2) Merge the damn rosters already. It's apparent that the RAW/Smackdown blended matches of top stars actually drew viewers between Orton vs. Ziggler in the first hour and then CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan during the 9:45 to 10:15 segment. I'm VERY curious to see the quarter hour ratings analysis.

(3) Royal Rumble to Wrestlemania season remains the strongest. Ratings increased slightly, though no presence of football, and now they blowout with the post-Rumble RAW. Still, this is the time of year when many casual fans might come back.

Best of all for the WWE, however, is the fact that this show increased in viewership (surging over 5,000,000 viewers for the first time in a while) is that the show DELIVERED HUGE with the Undertaker in the overrun. WWE couldn't have lucked out any better this week and heading into Wrestlemania 28 in 2 months. Everything lined up perfectly for the WWE.

The real question is this: can the WWE maintain momentum? After all, Newt Gingrich won South Carolina by double digits but is looking to get dominated tonight in Florida. It's all about how you keep the momentum going, as the WWE can now ramp up the heat between Chris Jericho and CM Punk and revamp the heat between Undertaker and Triple H. Can the WWE cause the Wrestlemania 28 buyrate to explode and then keep it up AFTER Wrestlemania?

Huge week for the WWE, no doubt about it.
