So here we are, late Wednesday night, with a good slate of wrestling news to discuss. Time is of the essence, as I better type fast as I'm racing heavy eyes that want me to sleep before waking up early Thursday morning...

But these stories deserve attention NOW as I attempt to deliver you, my wonderful readers, the "Excellence in Column Writing" with Tito Rising. And we'll go HEADLINE style for today's column.

Is CM Punk Trying to Get Fired?

Recently, I criticized CM Punk for his public criticisms of the Rock's return to the WWE and the Miz getting the Wrestlemania 27 main event slot instead of Punk. As you'll recall, I argued that as an employee of a publicly-traded corporation, CM Punk should NOT discuss company matters through media outlets. Furthermore, I even argued that even though pro wrestling is predetermined, exposing trade secrets and backstage information is BAD for business.

Well, I'm ramping up that criticism ten fold, as CM Punk tweeted the following, and I quote:

@CMPunk, 12/7/2011: "If you're a professional athlete and you use performance enhancing drugs, you're a ****."

I was absolutely shocked when I read this. Wow, just, wow... Does CM Punk even realize that the WWE has had very public scandals and wrestler deaths involving performance enhancing drugs? It's been since early 2006 that the WWE had to implement the Wellness Program and that it had to be ramped up with seriousness after Chris Benoit's murder/suicide during June 2007. Did you not watch the 2010 Elections where Linda McMahon was ridiculed for her time as CEO/President of the WWE for her possible lack of oversight on the WWF/WWE for the last 20 years?

Furthermore, does Punk even realize how this comment could cause him problems backstage? Sports Illustrated was all over wrestlers allegedly buying performance enhancers through an online pharmacy? For example, would CM Punk consider Randy Orton a "****" for his alleged use, and furthermore, would Punk say it to Orton's face? During the 2010 Republican Primary, candidate Rob Simmons made allegations of certain WWE performers being "exempt" from the Wellness Program. Care to call those persons as "pussies", Punk?

These recent actions possibly read to me that CM Punk is tired of something in the WWE. Why else would he open old performance enhancing wounds? By Punk making mention of performance enhancers, he's inviting unwanted attention to the WWE. Sure, maybe he's ripping other professional sports for his criticisms, such as Baseball or the NFL. Then fine, specify that! WWE has been too close to the fire on performance enhancers that any mention by a WWE pro wrestler will create undue attention.

Besides, I understand that CM Punk is "straight edge" and all... But Punk should always be aware of the old phrase "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". I certainly hope that you don't have any bad habits that other wrestlers could hint at.

RAW is Zack Ryder

The Monday Night RAW ratings are in and the breakdowns of each hour is fascinating. Personally, I was curious to see how Zack Ryder performed, provided how new his push is and to see if his popularity among the Internet Wrestling Community can be systemic towards non-internet wrestling fans.

First of all, RAW started off strong with a rounded 3.3 rating... And then, it went downhill... The opening segment was the "20 minute interview" segment that set up the Contendership matches for the TLC Main event. After this segment ended to when Zack Ryder wrestled John Cena, the WWE lost 877,000 viewers... Are you getting that? 877,000 viewers GONE before Ryder and John Cena could even have their match. Thus, RAW's 1st hour was weighed heavily by the first segment...

Ryder vs. Cena gained 221,000 viewers... Sure, it COULD be higher, but the bleeding wound ahead of it requires more than a Bandaid to repair it. Cena/Ryder at least stopped what could have been a very humiliating RAW. Next, the events surrounding and his match with Mark Henry drew an additional 100,000 viewers. Not bad all. Then, Kevin Nash had his match with Santino that lost 179,000 viewers.

Point being, RAW was in a freefall and the numbers don't like about Zack Ryder. He stopped the massive bleeding for the segments he was involved with but the sharp 1st hour viewership loss of 877,000 was too painful to overcome.

As someone who digs deep into numbers and analysis for a living, I see this as a success for Zack Ryder and if the WWE agrees, I'd expect seeing more of Ryder during the 2nd hour in the upcoming weeks...

---------------

There you go... I just wrote about the two "sacred cows" of the Internet Wrestling Community and I expect nothing short than utter hatred spewed my way.

But hopefully, you'll understand the risk of CM Punk's open comments about the WWE while noticing that I, Mr. Tito, gave Zack Ryder praise here on 12/7/2011.

I'm a nicer guy than even you would believe...

JUST CHILL... TILL THE NEXT EPISODE!
