Last night's Monday Night RAW was headlined by the "stars of tomorrow" in CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Zack Ryder, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, and The Miz and it was the post-TLC Pay Per View show, right... How did it do?

Marc Middleton @ LordsofPain.net Reports:
Last night's WWE RAW Supershow with the fallout from TLC scored a 2.9 cable rating with 4.3 million viewers. The first hour averaged 4.42 million viewers while the second hour averaged 4.1 million viewers.

In the words of Ron Simmons... DAMN!

What we need to first do is pray that the McMahon family does NOT panic. Their ADD has been very present for the past few years as their "whatever sticks to the wall" mentality of storylines causes them to quickly rewrite shows and long-term storylines. I just hope that the WWE at least gives Punk/Bryan a chance, although I sense the ball will return to John Cena and/or Triple H.

But what needs to be understood is that Monday Night Football had a very strong match-up with 49ers vs. Steelers. Viewership for that game, even with the power outages (which I think HELPED the ratings), nearly DOUBLED. The Steelers are a draw and the 49ers are the 2nd best team in the NFC. With the NFL nearly gaining a reported 7 million additional viewers versus last week, I'd argue that a 2.9 rating is actually GOOD.

Patience, WWE... Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels took a while to mature as big stars, just as Steve Austin and the Rock did during the 1990's. The "Class of 2002" Ohio Valley Wrestling class took a while for many of its members to fully mature. Just look at how good John Cena and Randy Orton became time...

Just LOSING about 300,000 total viewers when the ESPN's Monday Night Football SURGED with 7 million gained isn't bad...

And I say this by not being an apologist for the WWE or any of the 6 wrestlers that headlined RAW. Facts speak for themselves... Quarter hour breakdowns will be quite fascinating when they arrive.
