Welcome, one and all, to the EXCELLENCE IN COLUMN writing on a Saturday evening as I attempt to cover WWE Roadblock in an INSTA-COLUMN basis... Meaning, I write the column as the event happens and immediately post the column as the show ends. Seems to be a good customer service to my long-time readers and of course, anyone looking for a quick review on the Pay Per Views.

Heading into this show, my expectations were low... It's just a casual show to sit back and relax... It's a "bonus" for owning WWE Network. Being honest here, I bought WWE Network because of the FREE trial month and because I wanted to watch WWE Money in the Bank 2015 and the NBA Finals game between the Cavs and Warriors... But then, I watched the "Beast of the East" Japan special show on the WWE Network and then I began watching NXT... What I've been seeking from the WWE for years was something that appears to be imitating an athletic competition... These WWE Network specials and NXT are doing that for me... Thus, I've retained WWE Network membership.

WWE has to do something with Monday Night RAW... It's just an infomercial to tout the McMahon family and to hype Pay Per Views. But it has always hyped Pay Per Views but now we're getting garbage storylines, bad matches, and horrible outcomes to matches. At 3 hours on USA Network, it has become unwatchable and on Hulu for just 1.5 hours, it can also be a struggle even with crap edited out. I have seriously considered just letting the WWE feed me my wrestling fix via NXT and Pay Per Views/Specials. I probably review RAW just for the column and I never catch Smackdown. Why should I? Only the Pay Per Views show actual wrestling that is meaningful.

Anyway, onto the review.

Mr. Tito's PHAT WWE ROADBLOCK Review

Opening match was New Day vs. League of Nations... Being brutally honest, one of my kids had my phone to play Angry Birds: Star Wars while the other was watching the Blu Ray player for educational videos before they went to bed. I'll catch the replay soon after this show to post my real thoughts... But for now, I'll move on to the next match. Pay Per Views on Saturdays are difficult.

BUT I did watch Chris Jericho vs. Jack Swagger... Happy to see Jack Swagger getting a decent spot, as the WWE just doesn't know how to book that guy. Overpushed then underpushed, overpushed then underpushed. And if you give Swagger a good spot on a decent show, he'll produce. Good match... Match was tight yet very athletic and you could just tell that Swagger was motivated to be there... Jericho gets the clean win, and he should... At the very least, Jack Swagger deserves better by the WWE and this match sort of proved it. [ *** ]

And then, we had an EXCELLENT Tag Team match from NXT between Enzo Amore/Colin Cassady vs. the Revival... Enzo and Big Cass (with Carmella) did their usual NXT entrance with mics in hand and they were very over in Canada with this. But then, the match happened... DAMN IT WAS GOOD! And in my opinion, Big Cassady looked great... If there was ever a time to look your best, Big Cass impressed in front of WWE Officials. But give the Revival members major credit for selling like champions! WWE needs tag teams badly and not only should WWE inject both teams into the division, but bring along American Alpha as well. If there was ever a success story for Triple H, it is his rebuilding of the Tag Division in NXT. [ **** ]

Charlotte vs. Natalya was decent... Didn't hurt that Natalya was in front of her country to add some crowd interest but I'm expecting more from the veteran Natalya and the athletic freak of nature Charlotte. Instead, just an OK match... I think that the NXT smaller arena atmosphere and same crowds are making Divas matches appear better than they are? Charlotte wins with some Ric Flair interference (distracts for the cheap roll-up finish). Becky, Sasha, and Charlotte need to step it up at Wrestlemania 32. [ ** ]

Next, it was Brock Lesnar versus Bray Wyatt/Luke Harper... Well, it was really Lesnar vs. Harper... Soon into the match, Bray Wyatt went to the outside and just watched the match. Match was too short although Harper did get in some offense against Lesnar. I see a lot of potential in Harper but I hate his look. It's like they just pulled some older guy off the street to come and wrestle. Lesnar eventually gets the win... I would have loved to see Harper get more time with Lesnar, but oh well. Afterward, staredown... Makes me wonder if something between the Wyatts and Lesnar will still go down at Wrestlemania. [ **1/2 ]

Up next, it was Sami Zayn vs. Stardust. I thought that Cody Rhodes was ditching the Stardust gimmick? Or was I hearing things? Match was high energy and pretty tight... Solid workrate by both which makes me wonder why WWE can't figure out how to use Cody. Zayn wins as I guess his promotion is complete to the main WWE roster. [ *** ]

The MAIN EVENT was Triple H (c) vs. Dean Ambrose... How about this? Triple H came out first and he was WWE Champion. Freakin' Vince bucked tradition with his own son-in-law. I guess there is some backstage heat between Vince/Shane and Stephanie/Triple H? Crowd is very hot for this match which goes to show you that this is a match that fans actually want to see... The opposite fan reaction is seen with the hype of Triple H vs. Roman Reigns. Early on, Triple H is selling Dean's offense well and that's a great sign for Dean. HHH is there to help make Dean look good. HHH is in superior physical shape right now, by the way. Makes me wonder if he's here to stay as a WWE wrestler. Lots of selling, near falls, and back and forth between the two. Good chemistry. Interesting sequence where Dean almost won the WWE Title but the referee had issue with Dean's foot being on the bottom rope. That's a great storyline way to put over Dean... He had HHH beat but the ring positioning saved HHH from a loss. Is Pat Patterson booking matches backstage tonight? Dean foolishly missed an elbow on HHH through the table, just made it into the ring at the 9 count, but walked into a Pedigree. GOOD finish... Excellent match and I may legitimately consider as "Match of the Year" so far, but need more viewings... [ ****1/2 ]

LAST WORD: Well, for anyone who doubted that Dean Ambrose wouldn't be a worthy main eventer, just WATCH THIS SHOW. Dean Ambrose vs. Triple H was great and this is what should impress at Wrestlemania 32 instead of the potential lackluster match between Roman Reigns and Triple H. Why? Because Reigns is a manufactured star as created from Vince McMahon's brain and Dean Ambrose is a guy who wanted to be a wrestler for a living. Showed in this match and you could see Triple H respecting Dean as an in-ring wrestler during the course of the match. Hopefully, this is a star making night for Dean and causes WWE's booking crew to reconsider Wrestlemania 32. Seriously. THAT is how you step it up on a big stage. [ A ] for a great night of wrestling. LOVED the WRESTLING on this WRESTLING SHOW put on by the World WRESTLING Entertainment company.

SO JUST CHILL... 'TIL THE NEXT EPISODE!
