When I first saw Brodus Clay and his "Funkasaurus", I just shook my head. Oh no, not another stupid creative idea by the WWE Creative Team! Not again!

But then, as the week developed, I thought about it... What does the WWE have to lose in TRYING this Funkasaurus gimmick? In other words, if the gimmick fails (which I predict it will), he can just shoot from the hip and say he was FORCED by John Laurinaitis or WWE Management to embrace this stupid gimmick. Then, he could be the badass hoss wrestler that he was initially intended to be.

The idea came to me what the WWE could be doing based on what happened to Dustin Rhodes in late 1999. Rhodes, who most of you know as Goldust, made the jump to WCW to join the Vince Russo bandwagon (Russo was the lead writer of the WWE during the late 1990's, and jumped to WCW around September 1999). Vince Russo, who was a bit too comfortable with his former employer, began to attempt to replicate his favorite WWE gimmicks in WCW.

Enter the Seven gimmick... For weeks, WCW was advertising a new terrifying character who was basically Goldust who looked like Uncle Fester.

The hilarious thing about these promos is that it spooked Time Warner's "Standards and Practices" department wanted no part of this gimmick. Thus, the gimmick was dropped, but Vince Russo had something special up his sleeve. What better way to kick a wrestler's debut off than a complete rejection of a gimmick he has been given. Quite the interesting "shoot" by Dustin Rhodes:

There you go, Brodus Clay... A roadmap for your success...
