Back from commercial, Todd Grisham and Jim Ross played a video of the Hunter/Orton feud set to music.
The announce team ran down the current Backlash card.
They played a video that recapped Edge’s attack on Cena from Raw. Backstage, Todd Grisham asked Cena about the attack. Cena said this is where he usually says he’s ready to go and then answer all of Grisham’s follow up questions. Cena took the mic and said he wasn’t going to do that. He was going to talk to the viewers.
Cena said the footage was graphic but necessary. He said the feud with Edge has nowhere else to go. He said they had played out every story. Cena went on about how his rivalry with Edge was like the Yankees and the Red Sox. He said if they were only going to play each other one more time, do you think you could drag any of the nine from the field. He said he was ready to go, no matter what happens because he knows that the end will prove who is the better man. And that would be the last man standing.
Edge made his ring entrance.
