WWE Smackdown 10/9/09
From Trenton, New Jersey
Announcers: Jim Ross and Todd Grisham

We start off tonight’s show with a look back at the Hell in a Cell match from last Sunday at the pay per view when CM Punk lost his World Title to The Undertaker.

Teddy Long is in the center of the ring and he says that he knows that everyone watched Hell in a Cell and then he congratulates the new champion the Undertaker. Teddy says that Taker’s opponent showed that Smackdown is the dominant brand in the WWE. In three weeks, we will have another brand new pay per view, Bragging Rights. Teddy mentions the Iron Man that was announced on Monday. Teddy mentions that John Cena is welcome back home on Smackdown.

Teddy is interrupted by CM Punk who still shows a limp from the Hell in a Cell match. Punk yells at Teddy for mentioning a Raw wrestler and says that Smackdown doesn’t need John Cena. It does need focus by the general manager and that focus should be on him. Punk says that Teddy should be focusing on him especially if Teddy talks about his title. Punk says that if there is going to be a number one contender announced, it should be him. Punk reminds Teddy that he has a rematch. Punk says that it is bad enough that he has to face Batista in this dump especially because he was in Hell in a Cell five days ago. Punk says that he wants his rematch with the Undertaker and it will be on his terms. There will be no stipulations that Teddy can think up. He wants a submission match with Scott Armstrong as referee and Teddy Long at ringside. Punk says that he will tell Teddy when it will happen.

Before Teddy can talk back, Vince McMahon’s music plays and he stomps to the ring as only Vince McMahon can. Vince shakes hands with Teddy and Punk before getting the CEO mic. Teddy introduces Vince McMahon and then Vince tells Teddy that he tries to support him in every way, but his patience is wearing thin. Vince tells Teddy that he is still on probation. Vince says that Teddy’s announcement was not going to please CM Punk or the Undertaker. Vince says that he does not know why Teddy is trying to provoke the Undertaker. Vince says that Teddy Long was going to announce a title match, but not a singles match. It will be CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, and Batista challenging Undertaker for the title.
