WWE Monday Night Raw 9/28/09

We start off with the VIP Lounge and Montel Vontavious Porter has his own co-host and it is Mark Henry. Porter brings out his special guest, tonight’s guest host...
Instead of Al Sharpton, Chris Jericho and Big Show come to the ring. Jericho tells Porter that it is a travesty to give Al Sharpton the introduction he got. He should be called the greatest Civil Rights leader. Jericho then mentions Sharpton’s radio show. Jericho says that Sharpton tells it like it is. Porter then talks about the things that Sharpton has done, including his education tour.
Al Sharpton comes to the ring. He appreciates the introduction and he says that he is excited to be here because he is going to help children getting a better education. Porter and Sharpton talk about reform and Porter mentions the tag titles. Porter says that since Al is the guest host, why not give him and Mark Henry a title match against Chris Jericho and Big Show. Jericho says that they are surrounded by hypocrites and parasites as well as people with no morals. He says that he does not care about what they think. Jericho says that they are already in the gauntlet match tonight, and Porter and Henry do not deserve another match. Jericho says that the fans do not deserve to be educated and they do not deserve the opportunity to be around Jericho’s greatness. Sharpton wants to know if the fans want to see a title match right now. Sharpton gives them their match and it will be next.

Match Number One: Chris Jericho and Big Show versus Mark Henry and Montel Vontavious Porter for the Unified Tag Titles
Jericho and Porter start things off and Jericho with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Porter with punches to Jericho but Jericho with a Northern Lights suplex and bridge. Jericho with a cover but Porter bridges and gets a back slide for a near fall. Porter with a double thrust and front face lock before tagging in Mark Henry and Henry with a double sledge to the back. Henry stands on Jericho’s chest followed by a head butt and biel. Jericho tags in Show. They lock up and Henry pushes Show into the ropes and then Henry smiles. Show with punches and then Show tries for a splash into the corner but Henry catches him and then hits a clothesline. Porter tags in and he punches Show. Porter with clotheslines but Show stays up. Porter with a facebuster but Show with a clothesline when Porter charges at him. Show with a punch to the midsection. Jericho tags in and he connects with a forearm and snap mare into a reverse chin lock. Porter with a punch and shoulder tackle followed by a clothesline. Both men are down. Porter gets a near fall and then Jericho stops Porter from making the tag. Jericho chokes Porter in the ropes and then Show is tagged in. Show with a side head lock and take down. Show with a slam to Porter and then he kicks Porter in the back. Jericho tags back in and he slaps Porter in the head but Porter with punches. Jericho with a back elbow and then he raises his fist in the air. Jericho tries for the Lionsault but Porter moves out of the way. Both men are down again. Henry tags in and he clotheslines Jericho and then he knocks Show off the apron. Henry with a head butt and then he presses Jericho over his head but Show catches Jericho on the floor.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Jericho falls in the corner and Henry gets a near fall. Show makes the blind tag and Henry with a body block but Show with a spear and an elbow drop. Show with a splash for a near fall. Show with a head butt and then he kicks Henry. Jericho attacks Henry from behind and then Show with a clothesline for a near fall. Show works on the arm to prevent Henry from hitting his power slam. Henry punches Show but Show with head butts. Show with a DDT and he gets a near fall. Jericho tags in and he kicks Henry in the ribs. Jericho with an elbow to Porter and then he tries for a sleeper on Henry and Henry goes down to his knee. Henry gets back to his feet and he backs Jericho into the corner. Jericho with a drop toe hold to a charging Henry and Henry goes into the turnbuckles. Jericho with a kick to the midsection and ribs. Show tags back in and he punches Henry but they each hit clotheslines and both men are down. Porter and Jericho tag in and Porter with an overhead belly-to-belly throw and clotheslines followed by a punch. Porter with a big boot for a near fall. Porter with forearms. Porter with a flying clothesline and it is time for some Ballin’ and he hits the elbow but he can only get a two count. Porter tries for the Playmaker but Show hits Porter and the referee tells him to stop. Henry with a shoulder tackle that sends Show to the floor. Jericho with a drop kick that sends Henry to the floor. Porter with a rollup for a near fall. Porter with a DDT for another two count. Show punches Porter in the back and then Jericho with the Codebreaker for the three count. Winners: Chris Jericho and Big Show

We are back and did you know that people love the WWE Universe.
Primo is in Al’s office and he says that Sharpton is a good role model. Hornswoggle runs in and grunts a lot. Chavo is there too and they run around Al’s desk. Chavo apologizes and he introduces himself and he introduces his tag team partner, Chris Masters. Santino comes in and makes a Geico joke. Santino says that Hornswoggle is his tag team partner tonight. Santino gets Al mixed up with Don King. Then he makes a Richard Roundtree reference.
Primo is back and Al says that he does not know what he got himself into.
It is time to take a look back at the reason why we have a gauntlet match tonight with John Cena.
Josh Mathews is in the interview area and he is happy to introduce Randy Orton. Josh asks Randy about his matches tonight after talking about the gauntlet. Randy says that Cena will not survive tonight. He says that he knows about Hell in a Cell and what it does to careers. Randy says that he will not be responsible for his actions. He says that Cena’s title reign and career will end when he wins the WWE Title.
Alicia Fox is walking in the back with Rosa Mendes and we go to commercial.

We are back and we see footage of Alicia Fox’s scissors kick to Mickie James.
Match Number Two: Mickie James versus Rosa Mendes with Alicia Fox
They lock up and Mickie with a side head lock takedown but Rosa with a head scissors. Mickie escapes and she hits an arm drag into an arm bar. Rosa with a knee but Mickie with a float over. Mickie with a drop kick followed by a kick to the midsection. Mickie sets for the DDT but Alicia distracts her. Mickie with a neck breaker for a near fall. Rosa throws Mickie to the mat followed by a kick to the back. Rosa with a near fall and then she goes to a rear chin lock. Rosa works on Mickie’s back. Rosa sends Mickie into the turnbuckles and then Rosa with shoulders to the back. Mickie with an elbow and kick followed by a forearm. Mickie with another elbow and then she hits a head scissors take down followed by a clothesline and shoulder tackle. Mickie with a Thesz Press and then she punches Rosa. Alicia gets on the apron and Rosa tries to take advantage but Mickie moves. Mickie with a roundhouse kick and the three count. Winner: Mickie James
Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase are walking in the back and they each have shirts. We go to commercial.
We are back and we see the Hell in a Cell cage over the ring.
Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase come to the ring. They have microphones and they are going to talk. Ted says that they get it. Nobody expects them to win on Sunday. Nobody expects them to beat Degeneration X inside the cell because they should. Ted says that if you look at what they have done over the last few weeks to DX, they are ready for their biggest win while Degeneration X is ready for their greatest loss. Ted has a video package to show us what they have done to Shawn and Hunter.
Cody says that every single one of those moments are things that people did not expect them to do. He says that Shawn and Hunter are two of the greatest superstars. Raw has been their sandbox for a decade. Cody points out that Hunter is a thirteen time champion and a sure fire first ballot Hall of Famer. Cody says that Hunter can get his office job ready after Sunday. Cody says that he has been in the ring with the Showstopper and Shawn is the greatest ring performer to ever breathe. Cody reminds us about Shawn overcoming a broken back to return to the ring. Cody says that Sunday will be a tragic ending as they stand over the broken heap that was Shawn Michaels. DX will be locking with...
Shawn lets out a boring chant from the crowd.
Ted says that time is running out.
Then we see Shawn and Hunter in the crowd. Ted says that it is funny that DX is telling jokes. Ted tells them that they are not stupid. They see right through them. They know what Shawn and Hunter are doing.
Hunter asks if they think they are making fun of them because of some insecurity. Shawn tells Hunter to choose the proper words since it is family friendly. Hunter says they are like butts, more specifically the center part. Hunter makes reference to the Incredible Hulk and when the Hulk becomes his alter ego, Bob Barker. Shawn corrects Hunter. Hunter says that when they are goofing around, the monster stays at bay.
Cody says that Hunter can use whatever reasoning they like and they cannot wait. Shawn tells Cody not to cut Hunter off. Hunter says that unlike Bruce Banner, they like when the monster comes out. Hunter suggests why wait until Sunday. They come to the ring.
Cody and Ted leave the ring and go into the crowd as Hunter and Shawn enter the ring and want Cody and Ted to return. Shawn says that it is a shock that after all of the talk, they stand in the ring, ready to go but Cody and Ted run away. Hunter tells Ted and Cody to enjoy the distance because on Sunday a cell will lower around the four of them and there will be no running or hiding. Hunter says that they won’t be joking. Sunday will be pure hell.

We see footage of Swagger taking the title from Miz instead of beating Kofi to earn it.
Match Number Three: Jack Swagger versus Evan Bourne
Swagger with a waist lock take down and then he tries to send Bourne into the turnbuckles but Bourne with a kick. Swagger blocks a head scissors and hits a back breaker. Swagger works on the knee and has Bourne contorted in positions that most men cannot achieve. Bourne makes it to the ropes but Swagger kicks Bourne to the floor. Bourne with a kick and rollup for a near fall. Swagger with a kick but Bourne with a spinning heel kick. Bourne with a kick to Swagger and then he hits a clothesline for a near fall. Bourne avoids the Doctor Bomb and Bourne with a double knee from the turnbuckles for a two count. Bourne goes up top but Swagger gets up. Bourne with a head scissors take down but Swagger holds on and rolls through into a power bomb for the three count. Winner: Jack Swagger
Swagger says that he has the talent and the gold, but on Sunday he will officially become the All American American United States Champion.
Swagger is interrupted by The Miz and he asks Jack if he is going to become the new United States Champion. Miz says that he has been the most successful draft choice and the one who turned the most heads. He says that he will be the next United States Champion. He says that everyone knows it. Miz tells Swagger to look at him and they start to fight.
Kofi comes to the ring and he steals his title back while Swagger and Miz brawl in the ring. Then Kofi’s music plays and they realize what happened.
We go to commercial.
Match Number Four: Santino Marella and Hornswoggle versus Chris Masters and Chavo Guerrero
Chavo and Santino start things off but Chavo wants Hornswoggle to start. Santino with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Santino raises the roof. Chavo with a kick and forearm to the back and Masters tags in. Masters kicks Santino and then he slams Santino. Masters with a kick and then Chavo tags back in and he kicks Santino. Chavo with a Latino uppercut to Santino and then he slams Santino’s head into the turnbuckles. Santino sends Chavo into the turnbuckles and then he punches Chavo. Santino with a split but he misses the blind tag and Masters puts Santino in the Master Lock. Santino tries to Santino Up but it does not work and Santino is out. Winners: Chris Masters and Chavo Guerrero
After the match, Masters puts Hornswoggle in the Master Lock and Chavo punches Masters and leaves the ring.
The Gauntlet Three are in the locker room and they are talking strategy. We go to commercial.
We are back and it is time to see footage of the European tour for Smackdown and ECW as well as the Central American tour of Raw.
We are told that Ben Roethlisberger will be the guest host next week on Raw.
We see the Hell in a Cell and Jerry and Michael are in the ring. We run through the card for Hell in a Cell.
Jerry reintroduces Al Sharpton and he is in his office. He says that he has had fun...but he is interrupted by Jillian Hall. Jillian says that she might be a better singer than James Brown and she wants Al to be her tour manager. Jillian warbles for a minute or so and Jillian sends her away. The Bellas come in and since Al is the godson of James Brown, they want him to dance.
John Cena has his belt and it is Gauntlet Time. After this commercial.
We are back with a look at Community starring Joel McHale and Chevy Chase.
Match Number Five: The John Cena Gauntlet of Doom A Go-Go
Part One: John Cena versus Chris Jericho
They lock up and Cena with a side head lock take down and a near fall. Jericho with punches to Cena and then Cena backs Jericho into the corner. Cena with a break. Jericho charges and Cena with a drop toe hold. Jericho with a clothesline and then he kicks Cena followed by an elbow to the head. Jericho chokes Cena in the ropes and Jericho with a back elbow and Jericho gets a near fall. Jericho with a reverse chin lock. Cena gets Jericho on his shoulders but Jericho blocks it and punches Cena. Jericho slingshots Cena’s throat into the bottom rope. Jericho misses a charge and Cena with two flying shoulder blocks followed by the Vintage Blue Thunder Bomb and then it is five knuckle shuffle time. Jericho escapes the Attitude Adjustment and he puts Cena in the Walls of Jericho. Cena makes it to the ropes but Jericho does not release the hold and the referee disqualifies Jericho Winner: John Cena by disqualification
Jericho refuses to release the hold despite the referee’s best efforts.
Part Two: John Cena versus Big Show
Show puts Cena in the corner and he punches Cena in the kidneys. Show with another punch to the kidneys and we go to commercial.
We are back and Show is still punching Cena in the back. Show with a shoulder to the back and then Show grabs the ring post for more pressure. Show with a bear hug. Cena powers out of the hold but Show with a knee. Show signals that it is over as he gets ready for a choke slam but Cena counters with a DDT. Cena gets Show up for the Attitude Adjustment but Jericho breaks up the hold and the referee calls for the bell. Winner: John Cena by disqualification
Cena is put in the Colossal Clutch before it is time for...
Part Three: Randy Orton with methodical walk of the viper versus John Cena
Orton walks up to Cena and gets in his face but Cena points up at the Cell and it is time for Cage Lowering Music. Cena takes Orton down and Cena with a waist lock as Orton tries to get out of the cage area. Orton cannot get out of the cage in time so he is trapped (unless he raises his hand to get the cage raised). Cena sees the cage door and he gives Orton an opportunity to escape. Cena stops Orton on his escape attempt. Cena punches Orton and Orton is out of the cage. Orton escapes Attitude Adjustment and the Viper and SuperCena climb the cage as if they are Spiderman. They are on top of the Cell and Orton and Cena exchange punches. Cena hits Attitude Adjustment and then we go to credits.
