Fireworks exploded on the stage. Michael Cole introduced the show and said 16,186 fans were in attendance. He noted that the Hell in a Cell structure is 20 feet high. Jerry Lawler checked in as they ran through the Raw matches on the show.

Josh Mathews interviewed Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. Rhodes said tonight would not be a technical match, it would be a fight. DiBiase said DX represented the past, and noted they were like the DX glow sticks in that they are fun for a while, then they just fade away.

WWE Summerslam Results 8/23/09 - Aug 23, 2009 - 11:13:57 PM
Summerslam opened with DX putting shadow puppets over the opening video package, making fun of Legacy's image, then "breaking" the film, followed by a DX highlight reel, which also "broke" after a few moments. DX reminded us that they were back, and we went live to the Staples Center.

Santino Marella's entrance music played and he came to the ring to confront Miz. Santino took offense to Miz mocking Soriano because he assumed it was an Italian name. Soriano laughed in the crowd. Santino said some WWE wrestlers look like animals. He said Vickie looks like a pig, and Santino looks like the muppet eagle. He said Miz looks like a jackass.

Batista finally came back with a suplex on DiBiase at 9:30. He went for a tag, but DiBiase tagged in Orton, who cut him off at the last possible second. At 11:00, Batista rolled to the corner and tagged in Super Shane, who beat up the heels. Shane hit a top rope elbow drop on DiBiase at 12:00 for a near fall. Orton grabbed Shane and threw him at the ring steps.

WWE No Way Out results. The final stop before Wrestlemania is finally here. What seems to be the shortest WWE card in some time is defying the odds with some of the most intriguing matches of 2009.
