Thanks to Eric P. for sending this report in!
I went to the WWE Raw Live! house show at the ISU Hulman Center in Terre Haute, IN last night. Here were the matches:
(1) Evan Bourne def. Chavo Guerrero
Evan won with the Air Bourne after Hornswoggle interfered. After the match, Evan set Hornswoggle up for the Tadpole Splash. Pretty good match...Air Bourne is amazing to witness live, it's a thing of beauty!
(2) Jack Swagger def. Primo
Jack won with the Doctor Bomb. It was a decent match, but I was surprised at how little the crowd was behind Primo.
(3) Jamie Noble def. Heath Slater (sp?)
This was my bathroom break match so I didn't see it.
(4) Chris Masters def. Santino Marella
Chris won with the Masterlock. Before the match, Santino said that he was the first person to master MMA (Marella Martial Arts), and that he was going to apply the "Cobra" to defeat Masters. It was very funny, and the crowd was definitely into Santino.
(5) Mickie James def. Beth Phoenix to retain the Diva's Championship
Mickie won after hitting a splash off the top turnbuckle. This was actually a fairly good Divas match. I don't understand why Beth Phoenix is not wrestling on TV more. She was very impressive as usual.
***INTERMISSION***
(6) The Miz def. Kofi Kingston to retain the United States Championship
The Miz won with the Skull Crushing Finale. This was a very good match, but I expected that from these two. I'm looking forward to a long feud between these two.
(7) M.V.P. and Mark Henry def. Legacy
Henry won this match with the World's Strongest Slam after M.V.P. took out Rhodes on the outside. Other than the main event, this was the match the crowd the most into. I think Mark Henry got bigger pops when he was tagged in than M.V.P.
(8) John Cena def. Randy Orton by DQ (Randy Orton retains the WWE Championship)
This match ended with Ted Dibasie interfering to get the DQ. The crowd was definitely into this match, and it was very, very good. Orton dominated most of it, but once Cena tried to make a comeback Ted interferred. After the match Cena gave Attitude Adjustments to both Dibasie and Orton to send the crowd home happy.
***Biggest Pops***
(1) John Cena
(2) Mark Henry and M.V.P.
(3) Kofi Kingston
(4) Santino Marella
(5t) Mickie James
(5t) Evan Bourne
***Biggest Heat***
(1) Randy Orton
(2) The Miz
(3) Legacy
(4) Jack Swagger
(5) Beth Phoenix
Overall I was very impressed with the whole show. I was a little disapointed that DX got the weekend off, but you can't win them all. There were a LOT of empty seats (stadium was about 3/4 full) so I don't expect to see WWE back in Terre Haute for another 2-3 years. This show was definitely worth the money!
Thanks to Adam S. for sending this report in!
Just got back from the 10-10-2009 house show in Terre Haute, Indiana. I would say that the place was probably 1/3 full. I've been to shows there before and this was withouth a doubt the least number of people Ive ever seen for a WWE show.
Evan Bourne Vs Chavo
An Ok match to be honest, lots of mat wrestling and restholds, Hornswoggle ended up interfering on Bourne's behalf which led to Bourne hitting the SSP for the win. Hornswoggle got a Tadpole Splash for good measure!.. Bourne got a Great pop though, little kids loved him espically.
Jack Swagger vs Primo
Yet again another ok match. Swagger got some good heat coming out, mouthing the crowd the whole time. Primo came out to a small reaction. Typically Swagger/little man match, Swagger ends up winning with the Gut Wrench. Swagger was getting some great heel heat though. Primo played the face in peril ok.. hes got the babyface energy down.
Heath Slater Vs Jamie Noble
A very very very basic match here. Nobody ( besides me of course because im a huge mark) knew who Slate was. Slate gets on the mic and basically says hes gonna blow our minds because hes the "only WWE superstar with Sunkissed hair" Noble ends up winning with a roll up or something of that kind I beleive.
Chris Masters Vs Santino
A GREAT comedy match to put in the middle of the event. Santino came out to the biggest pop of the night (so far) and Masters got some heet mixed with some cheers. Santino does some great mic work saying that hes come up with a brand of Karate, called MMA (Marella Martial Arts) and introduced us to the "Cobra". Everytime Santino used the "Cobra" we were told to make a hissing noise. The Hulman center ate this up and everyone was enjoying Santino. I beleive Masters ended up winning with the Masterlock, after Santino tries to power out then out of no where passes out. VERY entertaining match mostly because of the genius of Santino.
Next up with an intermission, And on a sidenote, the souvioner stand there ( yes only 1) didnt have much of anything. They had the typical chains, belts, and a few t shirts but nothing that I wanted.
Beth Phoenix Vs Mickie James
To be honest, I missed a lot in this match but I do remeber Mickie winning and Beth leaving the ring to some good heat.
Miz Vs Kofi Kingston for the United State Title
Miz comes out first to the most heat of the night. He gets on the mic and basically tells us he's the NEW UNITED STATES CHAMPION, and how he was SO AWESOME. He was literally yelling into the mic and every word was hard to understand. Kofi comes out to the biggest pop of the night and the little kids ate him up. Good match up but very simple and basic for these guys. Miz stalls alot and Kofi controls msot of the match only to fall victim to Miz's finisher. Good House Show match though and the crowd was very much into it. Kofi is very Over in Indiana.
The Legacy Vs Mark Henry and MVP
Solid tag team match up between these two. Legacy gets on the mic and brag about what they did to DX and talk about how at Bragging Rights, they will beat them again. MVP and Henry receive a great ovation from the crowd ( Mark Henry espically). Match goes back and forth for a bit, Henry hits some power moves, gets double team then tags in MVP and Henry and Mvp end up getting the WIN.
Randy Orton vs John Cena
We ended up leaving right after the tag match so we ended up missing this. I did hear Cena announced as the winner though.. I'm sure Cena's normal fans (kids and little girls) blew the roof off the place.
This is when the night started to get fun though. Since we left during the main event, we went to the ramp where all the wrestlers arrive and leave from. It was only me, my girlfriend, and maybe 4-5 other people out their waiting. We ended up seeing Hornswoggle outside talking on his phone and he did not even acknowldge the 4 people out there! He seemed busy though so we understand. Jack Swagger then came out the door and you could easily see Jack Swagger light up a smoke and talk on his phone. I yelled at him 2 times and even though there was no one outside to bother him and he clearly heard me, he refused to respond to anything I said. I find it funny that his gimmick is an "All American, American" yet he smokes. Jamie Noble was the next out and he was a very nice guy it seemed. They were way down the ramp but Jamie waved at me and said Hello, after I yelled his name! We stayed there for about an hour after that and several wrestlers all came out and not 1 stopped to sign anything for anyone. Santino, Mickie, Kelly Kelly were the nicest and waving.. most of them were in a hurry and acted like no one was out there... I guess I can understand that. I yelled at Miz telling him his twitter sucked and all this and he just acted like I didnt exist... I suck
One more funny story - they were backing up the semi that contained the WWE Trailer where the ring and everything goes in. Well they couldnt get the jack to raise up enough to be able to back down the hill and the driver kept trying unsuccesfully to back it up and they eventually all had to huddle up and think of a way.. Well we were forced to leave and they were still clueless as to how to back the semi up so all the equipment could be taken to the next town!
In all it was a good show, but lacking the "big talent" feel with no HBK, DX. I did enjoy it though and anytimg they come to the Terre Haute, Indiana, Champaign Illinois area I try to attend!
