Thanks to chrisrlumd10 for sending this report in!
WWE returned to the Cape Cod Melody Tent for their SummerSlam Tour as part
of the Melody Tent's Summer Concert Series.
Howard Finkle comes out and welcomes us to the show.
Match 1:
Shelton Benjamin VS Yoshi Tatsu:
Yoshi Tatus wins with a roundhouse kick.
Fink intorduced Tiffany who asked a kid in the audience who the new ECW
Champion at Night of Champions was. The kid was right and won front row
seats.
Match 2
Drew McIntyre VS Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat:
McIntyre cut a promo before the match about how he'd make a name for
himself. Steamboat wins with a crossbody off the top.
Match 3:
Paul Burchill VS Tyler Rex:
Rex wins with a springboard dropkick off the ropes
Match 4:
Tyson Kid w/ David Hart Smith VS Jimmy Wang Yang:
Smith cut a promo before the match about the Hart Dynasty. Kid wins with
a roll up after a distraction by Smith.
Fink brings some kids into the ring to throw t-shirts out.
Match 5:
Mike Knox VS John Morrison:
Morrison wins with Starship Pain. Knox was surprisingly impressive, much
better then on TV.
Intermission
Match 6:
Melina VS Katie Leigh Burchill:
Melina wins with Extreme Makeover
Match 7:
ECW Championship:
Christian VS William Regal
Christian won with a sunset flip off the second rope after the match of the
night. This could be a really good feud on ECW.
Fink introduces Theodore Long. Long starts to announce that the main
event will be a triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship,
until the referee reminds him it's a number one contenders match for the World
Heavyweight Championship.
Main Event:
Triple Threat Match to determine the Number One Contender for the World
Heavyweight Championship:
The Great Khali VS Kane VS CM Punk
Kane chokeslams The Great Khali, then Punk nails Kane with a kick and pins
Khali for the win. After the match, Kane tried to attack the Great Khali
with a chair. Khali punched the chair and bashed Kane in the back with it.
All in all, not a bad show. There were a lot of names advertised that
didn't appear, but still a solid WWE show for Hyannis. The arena was sold
out.
