Bilo Center – Greenville SC
SmackDown/ECW Live Event

Finlay defeated Drew McIntyre.
-McIntyre cuts a promo in the beginning for some good heat. Finlay wins short match with the Celtic Cross. McIntyre looked a little green, but seems to have a lot of potential. Nice warm up for the crowd.

Eve Torres and Melina defeated Natalya and Katie Lea Burchill. A little spotty, mostly due to sloppiness on the part of Katie Lea. Overall though, crowd was behind Melina and had MAJOR heat on Natalya. Melina wins with the Last Call to Katie Lea, who I think is probably the best Diva I’ve seen put her part into that move.

Dolph Ziggler defeated John Morrison with whatever his finisher is called. Pretty good match, with Morrison hitting some nice spots, but spending way too much time playing “face in peril.” Crowd lost a lot of steam for him about mid-match. Ziggler, for his part, got a lot of heat.

Great Khali defeated Kane via disqualification. Very slow match with very little action. Crowd was surprisingly pro-Kane, and he even smiled and played to the crowd at times. A low blow by Kane ended the match, with Khali coming out on top by reversing a chair shot attempt.

Cryme Tyme defeated Hart Dynasty. Very good match. Crime Tyme played the crowd well, and the Harts had some pretty major heat, especially Natalya. Tyson Kidd looked especially impressive in this match. The end came with a small package by JTG to Kidd, which Natalya rolled over in favor of Kidd. Ref threw her out and Shad rolled the pin back over in favor of JTG for the three count.

Tommy Dreamer defeated Christian and William Regal in an ECW Championship match. Regal was actually very funny, not at all what I expected. Christian was more over than Dreamer, but not by much. Really good spots by all three men, with lots of good, continuous, action. Dreamer pins Regal with the DDT.

Ricky Steamboat defeated Chris Jericho. MAJOR heat for Jericho. One fan even rushed the ring during his opening promo, hilariously causing referee Mike Chioda and the ring announcer to get into the fray along with the less than stellar security guards. Jericho didn’t miss a beat though, working the incident nicely into his promo. Carolina’s own Ricky Steamboat was pretty over. Good back and forth match, ending with a classic cross body from Steamboat for the three count.

CM Punk defeated Jeff Hardy in a Extreme Rules match to retain the WHC.
Very good match with some awesome spots. The action between these two was much more crisp than any other bout the night had to offer. End comes when Punk knocks Hardy off the ladder onto the ropes, followed by the GTS for the three count. Crowd was about 80% behind Hardy, 20% behind Punk. Punk wasn’t really heelish at all… in fact, a ladder assisted low-blow and Jeff attacking Punk after the match seemed more heelish than anything Punk did in the match.

Overall, pretty good show. Most of the early matches were a little spotty, with one too many botches to look over… but the end of the show turned things around.

Most Heat:
Jericho, Natalya, Ziggler
Most Cheers:
Hardy, Ricky Steamboat, Christian
