ECW on SyFy
Phoenix, Arizona
August 25th 2009
Commentators: Josh Mathews & Matt Striker

Reported by Chris Kelly of The Wrestling Lounge

A recap of the 8 second match from Summerslam for the ECW title is shown where Christian hits the Killswitch as Regal turns around only to get attacked by Regal's new best friends Jackson and Kozlov and laid out

The ECW entrance package hits and we are welcome to the show by Josh Mathews and Matt Striker. William Regal comes to the ring dressed in a suite with Kozlov and Jackson at his sides. Regal grabs the mic and tells us that ECW will never be the same as Kozlov and Jackson has joined him. They had been doing a one up game which people thought would lead to them fighting but Regal brought them together to form his round table

He turns his attention to Christian and tells him that he regain will end soon. This doesn’t sit too well with Christian who comes out and tell Regal that there will be zero people left watching if Regal keeps talking. Christian puts over the fact he beat William in 8 seconds which is a SummerSlam record. Regal gets annoyed and demands a rematch or they will make him regret the day he won the belt. Christian calls Regal “Bill” and tells him that he is looking to move on to face someone that he hasn’t beaten in 8 seconds

Tiffany comes to the ramp and tells Regal he will face Christian tonight: If Regal wins, he gets to face Christian for the belt if not he wont. A awesome video package is shown about the Sheamus/Goldust feud

Back from the break, Sheamus heads to the ring to face his opponent of the last few weeks, Goldust !

Sheamus vs. Goldust

The bell rings as they lock up and end in the corner where Sheamus slaps Goldust who fires back by chucking him into the turnbuckle and hitting him in the back. Sheamus reverse a waist lock and hit’s a backdrop for a 2 count then goes for a reverse chin lock and with Goldust down, Sheamus drops a few elbows and leg drops before going back to the headlock and throwing Dust into the ropes which allowed him to cloth lines Sheamus and get the upper hand with a atomic drop and power slam. Sheamus fights back but walks straight into a flatlinner(Complete forward shot). Sheamus rolls to the outside before dragging Goldust to the outside and brawling on the outside where they are both counted out
Winner: Double count out

After the match ,Sheamus escapes up the entrance ramp as Goldust screams at him. The main event of Christian vs. William Regal is plugged as we head to a break

We are back on ECW as the AeroSmith SummerSlam song is plugged.. Speaking of Singing, Shelton is singing to the Bella’s before he is interrupted by Zac Ryder which leads to Tiffany making the match Zac Ryder& Shelton vs. Tyler Reks and Yoshi Tastu. Highlights of Hurricanes return is shown and Hurricane vs. Paul Butchill on Superstars

Courtney Taylor is shown in the back with Paul who mocks her and asks if she will dress as wonder woman and act like a super hero like Gregory Helms did. Paul promised that he will beat Hurricane on Superstars and that Hurricane will be unable to save anyone including himself after the match.

We are back as Shelton heads to the ring for his tag team match.

Zac Ryder & Shelton Benjamin vs. Tyler Reks & Yoshi Tatsu

Reks and Shelton circle the ring before Shelton tackles Reks down before getting caught with sun set flip which leads to a few pins before Tyler hits a cross body. Shelton gets the upper hand and tries to tag Zac, who is busy doing up his knee pad. After a pin attempt, Ryder tags himself in and applies a chin lock to Reks. After an Irish Whip they both hit a cross both and this leads to a double hot tag as Yoshi gets in the ring and following a few kicks, attempts to climb the rope but is cut off by Shelton who gets annoyed as Zac demands a tag so Shelton tags him by throwing him into the ring.
Zac attempts the Zack attack which ends with Yoshi kicking Ryder in the head for the 3 count

Winner: Tyler Reks & Yoshi Tatsu

After the match, Shelton attacks Zac with the Pay Dirt before the main event is plugged

ECW is back in the home of Wrestlemaina 26 as we are shown a video package of the Summerslam party and fan axxess

William Regal‘s music hits for the second time today as his roundtable(Kozlov and Jackson) head to the ring to face the ECW Champion Christian in a non title match

William Regal vs. Christian(If Regal wins ,he gets a future title shot).

Kozlov and Zeke leave the ring as the wrestlers lock up and struggle to get an advantage which almost leads to the Killswitch. Christian rolls Regal onto the matt and locks in a chin lock then into a headlock which Regal tries to fight out of but only ends back on the mat in the chin lock. Christian chops William to the outside and looks like he wants to do a dive but is put off as William hides behind Kozlov and Jackson so Christian heads back in the ring as we head to a break.

We are back with Regal getting punched in the face before running into a T Bone suplex for a 2 count. Regal looks to knee Christian in the head but miss so he rolls to the outside and with Christian on the apron, Regal pulls Christian crashing onto the floor and he only gets back in at the 9 count. Christian waits in the corner as Regal charges at him and Christian attempts to fight back but does not get back in control until he attempts the back slide pin for a 2 count. Regal locks in a chin lock as Christian is in the corner so Christian climbs the ropes, create distance and hit’s a cross body. Following the cross body, Christian uses a dropkick from the top rope not once but twice before hitting a spinning DDT from the top rope which gets a 2 count.

Both wrestlers struggle to get to their feet before they end up on the outside where Christian slaps Kozlov before returning to the ring and this upsets both Kozlov and Zeke who attempt to storm the ring whilst Christian attempts a Killswitch which Regal blocks by throwing him into the head of Kozlov and hitting the knee trumbler(running knee to the skull for) the 3 count

Winner and number one contender William Regal

The show ends with Regal,Kozlov and Zeke standing over the prone body of Christian

ECW Thoughts!

Wow this show was just what ECW needed to do following the "match" at Summerslam which as a fan (and fellow english man) i found an insult to Regal so a result im taking the ECW title hostage till Regal wins/loses fairly

Every match on the card did its job,Regal cut an awesome promo and just by having two strong muscle bound guys next to him he looked awesome and im hoping that Regal and Christian face off at Breaking ponit.

Sheamus vs Goldust is become the best fued on ECW as Goldust is showing so much passion in his matches and playing the annoyed Veteran role so well

The Tag team match was fun and having a mix of heels and faces made it intresting to what. Shelton looked great in this match and i cant wait to see them face each other again

The main event was great and i would love to see Regal win the ECW title and have Kozlov and Jackson win the Tag belts so this "round table" stable has all the gold on ECW

Rating B
