Good evening everyone! I am your ECW Reporter, Ivan Wong. Has the ECW landscape changed following the WWE Draft? See for yourself!
ECW on Sci-Fi
Knoxville, Tennessee
The usual ECW video package plays and yes, it contains the newest member in the land of extreme, Vladimir Kozlov.
Following all the pyros, John Morrison finds his way down to the ring. Matt Striker and Josh Matthews, the commentators of the night, discuss how The Miz turned on Morrison on RAW last night.
Evan Bourne then makes his way out to a good ovation.
Match 1: John Morrison vs. Evan Bourne
Following an early wristlock, John Morrison quickly grounds Bourne with a shoulder block. Bourne however gets right back up and gives Morrison an armdrag takedown. As the match progresses, Morrison gets a cheap shot on Bourne by choking him on the ropes. From this point on, Morrison starts to dominate Bourne with brief Bourne offense as Morrison sweeps the leg of Bourne on the apron and connects with a running knee to the face. A great spot then occurs when Morrison lifts Bourne up in a modified Torture Rack, but Bourne reverses that into a modified headscissors that sends Morrison to the outside. Bourne teases a baseball slide, but Morrison quickly gets back in the ring and dropkicks Bourne right on his knee!

A Batista vs. Ted Dibiase match is advertised for SmackDown this Friday as well as a Triple H and Randy Orton face-off.
We return from break with Morrison in firm control as he has a cobra clutch applied on the highflying Bourne. Bourne tries to break free, but Morrison strikes with an amazing roundhouse kick to the back of Bourne’s head. Finally, around the 14 minute mark, Bourne starts to fight back with a running hurricanrana that is followed by a dropkick and a jumping side kick to the head. After a 2 count, Bourne sets Morrison up on the top rope. Morrison struggles to shove Bourne down, but he eventually does succeed in that. The resilient Bourne however gets right back up and gives Morrison a jumping hurricanrana! Nice spot! Bourne then lifts Morrison up, but Morrison jabs Bourne in the abdominal area and attempts to bounce off the ropes when Bourne suddenly splashes into Morrison and both men fall to the outside. Bourne then brings Morrison back into the ring for another near fall. Bourne starts to show some frustration and he starts to kick Morrison across the chest several times. Bourne then lifts Morrison up and tries to kick him again, but this time, Morrison blocks in and attempts the Moonlight Drive, but Bourne breaks free and strikes Morrison in the mouth with his knee. At last, Bourne brings Morrison near the corner and starts to climb up the top rope in hopes of the Shooting Star Splash. Morrison however makes it back to his feet and he does a high angle kick that connects with Bourne’s skull. Bourne is now dangling on the top rope. Morrison then grabs the unconscious Bourne and hits the Moonlight Drive for the win.
Your Winner: JOHN MORRISON in 17:14.
Vladimir Kozlov is shown backstage about to make his ECW debut.

The Moscow Mauler, Vladimir Kozlov, makes his way down to the ring. His opponent is some local ‘athlete’ by the name of David Faria.
Match 2: Vladimir Kozlov vs. David Faria
Ah, the usual jobbing match. Kozlov quickly hits with a big boot on the jobber and tackles him into the turnbuckle. Here, Kozlov strikes with numerous body punches that is soon followed by a foot choke. Kozlov then backs off and charges at Faria, but Faria kicks Kozlov and goes to the middle ropes. Faria dives at Kozlov, but Kozlov head-butts him in mid-air. The Russian athlete then gives Faria a fallaway slam and more headbutts. Kozlov picks up the victory with a kneeling chokeslam.
Your Winner: VLADIMIR KOZLOV in 1:02.
Kozlov then gets on the mic. and states that his dominance will be shown in ECW.

Striker and Matthews discuss the WWE Supplemental Draft that is scheduled for tomorrow at noon eastern time.
Backstage, Paul Burchill and Katie Lea are with the ECW GM Tiffany. They tell Tiffany that they should not be separated from each other in the supplemental draft, but Tiffany tells them that she has no power over that. The brother and sister leave and Jack Swagger comes in. Swagger offers Tiffany an idea for the WWE Superstars Show for Thursday, but Tiffany says that she has already made plans for the final match of the ECW Championship Chase to take place there. Tiffany apologizes to Swagger, but informs him that his idea was pretty good. Tiffany then congratulates Swagger on his performance against John Cena last night before Swagger leaves smiling.
The commentators go over the Backlash card.
Captain Charisma, Christian, makes his way down to the ring for the main event.

The debut of WWE Superstars is this Thursday on WGN America.
Tommy Dreamer and Finlay both make their respective entrances.
Match 3: Christian vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Finlay (ECW Championship Chase)
Finlay stars the match in control with bodyslams and clotheslines to both of his opponents before hip tossing Christian onto Dreamer. Finlay covers Dreamer, but Christian breaks up the count and hits an atomic drop on the Irishman that is followed by a dropkick to the face. As Finlay falls to the outside, Christian turns his focus to Dreamer. Christian connects with a snapmare on the ECW original. Christian then lifts Dreamer up, but Dreamer catches Captain Charisma with a reverse back elbow. Finlay tries coming in and he too receives an elbow to the face. Eventually, Dreamer and Finlay take it to each other and they wind up on the outside punching the heck out of each other. Christian goes to the top rope and dives onto both men.

Upon returning, Christian climbs the top rope to attack Dreamer, but Finlay shoves him off and onto the outside. Finlay then elbow drops an already downed Dreamer several times before splashing onto him. After Finlay applies an armbar to Dreamer, he sees Christian getting back up on the outside. So, Finlay goes out there and smashes Christian into the steel steps. Finlay gets back in the ring and gives Dreamer a modified backbreaker. Eventually, Christian gets back in the ring, but Finlay gives him a rolling gutbuster. Dreamer recovers and sneaks behind Finlay to give him the spike DDT. As Dreamer goes for the pin, Christian returns and attempts the Kill Switch. Dreamer however gives Christian a reverse back elbow. Christian falls back and gets himself tied up with the ropes. Dreamer punches Christian once and turns around only to be caught by Finlay with the Celtic Cross. Finlay pins Dreamer which means Dreamer is eliminated from the Championship Chase.
Your Winner: FINLAY in 15:19.
Following the match, the referee untangles Christian from the ropes and the two faces have a staredown to end the show.
Well maybe the ECW landscape didn’t change so much in the Draft, but the wrestling tonight was excellent. I would like to see more of Bourne and Morrison go at it as well as Finlay and Christian. My only worry is that I hope we don’t get too many squash matches with Kozlov. Other than that, good show!
ECW Grade for April 14, 2009: B+
