TNA Live Results from RMB Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown, Texas on Friday, August 21, 2009...
First off, at the Merchandise booth were TNA Referees: Earl Hebner & Mark "Slick" Johnson.. They were very friendly, approachable, and were ready to sign autographs or take pictures.. I purchased a TNA Program and without asking, they opened it up and signed it.. The small arena was about 3/4 full. During the matches, we could see BG James sitting out in the crowd watching the matches... The event started around 7:30 p.m.. Great introduction from Craig Leathers, who then introduced Jeremy "JB" Borash.. They gave away several Backstage Passes...
1. Sheik Abdul Bashir vs Homicide
Homicide won with The Gringo Killer..
2. Angelina Love vs Sarita
Great crowd response for Sarita, who won the match with a Tornado DDT..
3. Kip James vs "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan
Great crowd interaction by Matt Morgan who was building up tons of heat from the fans.. He interacted with the fans for about 5 minutes before the match even started.. During the match Kip James did the "Suck It" crotch chop, but then he was caught with the big boot for the pin.. After the match, Kip James received a standing ovation.. Winner: "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan
4. "Showtime" Eric Young vs Hernandez
Eric Young interacted with the fans for a couple of minutes, then turned to Hernandez and offered him a spot with with his "Elite" group. Hernandez said that these (the fans) are his people and declined the spot. Hernandez got the pin.. Hernandez had the best ovation so far from the fans..
JB came out along with the Crush Girls and gave out more Backstage Passes through TNA Moble.. You had to text "Backstage" to 81676 and wait to see if they text you back.. INTERMISSION
5. TNA Tag-Team Champions "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner & Booker T vs Beer Money ("Cowboy" James Storm & Robert Roode) for the TNA Tag-Team Championships
Great fan interaction by the champs.. No show by Sharmell. Steiner started by saying Corpus Christi is a dump. Booker T stated how fat and out of shape the fans were and after they beat Beer Money, he was going to buy everyone a doughnut.. Tons of heat for the tag team champs.. Then Beer Money interacted with the fans and started a chant.. Left side say, "BEER", Right side say, "MONEY", and then everyone say, "U SUCK", intended for the tag team champs.. Champs win the match as Scott Steiner pinned Robert Roode.. Beer Money also received a standing ovation after the match..
6. The Main Event: "Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe vs "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles in a Non-Title Match
AJ Styles came out to the biggest ovation of the night.. He did the Pele' move on Samoa Joe, and then leaped to the top rope to do a move on Samoa Joe, but he slipped.. Some chants of "You F--ed Up" was heard in the crowd.. AJ pins Samoa Joe for the win.. After the match, AJ went to ringside and took a fans "Corpus Christi Hooks" baseball cap (Who was also wearing a Minnesota Vikings jersey) and went back to the ring and rubbed it like toilet paper against his butt.. He then got on the mic and stated that "the Vikings and Brett Favre sucks", which got a great ovation.. He then threw the cap back to the fan and Thanked the crowd for showing up..
After the event, TNA had an Autograph party ringside.. For $20, you and whoever was with you, could get in the ring with Hernandez for a picture.. They also introduced Homicide, Sarita, Kip James, and Beer Money.. They came out and signed some autographs but they didn't stay out too long.. The only one who stayed out the entire time besides Hernandez (who was taking pictures) was Kip James and Jeremy "JB" Borash.. Great show, it ended just before 10:00 pm.
