The Rock Negotiating To Star In "The Janson Directive" Franchise, Update on HBO's Ballers

- Variety reports that The Rock is in early talk to star in Robert Ludlum's "The Janson Directive" movie for Universal. If the deal goes through, Rock will also produce the movie.

The book for the movie follows a former consular ops agent who goes into business as a private security consultant after leaving covert operations due to the high number of sanctioned serial killings. Janson teams with a sharpshooter and takes assignments that he believes will lead to helping people in need.

Universal sees the movie as a Jason Bourne-esque franchise for The Rock and is high on it. Rock is still filming New Line's 3D disaster movie San Andreas and recently wrapped production on the series Ballers, which HBO picked up.
