IPW DEBUTS ON UPN 44 with a .5 rating in the Tampa Bay area (15,000 Viewers!!!)
    WHAT A SHOW!
IPW Hardcore Wrestling debuts on TV for the very first time this past Saturday night, August 25th, at 2:30 a.m., with 'IPW Hardcore Recap', hosted by Aaron Royal.
History was made this past Saturday night as IPW Hardcore Wrestling debuted on television on UPN 44 at 2:30 a.m.

Killer blue splash graphics with a bold IPW logo let you know that you were indeed watching IPW Hardcore Wrestling, Florida's premier independent wrestling promotion. After the intro to the show which contained various images of IPW competitors matted in blood red, IPW host 'The Mastermind' AARON ROYAL opened the show. Sitting behind a desk and in front of a slick silver background, Royal wasted no time in getting down to ringside for the night's opening contest, SCOOT ANDREWS vs. MIKE SHANE from 'Reign In Blood'. Joining Royal for color commentary was none other than the 'Hardcore Giant', RON NIEMI. While both Royal and Niemi were astute in their observations and commentary, they weren't statues either. Both men cracked one-liners throughout the entire show which kept the viewer in tune to not only the action, but the commentary as well. Niemi dropped a ton of old-school names (surprise), let out a MEOW or two, and had some inside information about the latest employment ventures of JONATHAN HOLIDAY.

PAT MCGROIN vs. DEVIN vs. STORMTROOPER was featured as the second match, while clips of QUICKIEMART vs. THE SOUTHERN POSSE followed. The show closed with clips of THE CUBAN ASSASSIN vs. 'Marvelous' MIKE SULLIVAN and its' aftermath, in which Niemi told the story in his own words about how CHAOS turned his back on IPW, ran a sharp sickle across his head, and joined the NWA. Commercials aired throughout the program for IPW's SEVENTH AVENUE SLAUGHTER and the FLORIDA WRESTLEPLEX.

IPW will be back with Week #2 this Saturday night at 2:30 a.m.. Set your VCR's, stay up late, hell, drink a gallon of coffee for all we care, just don't miss it.

    IWA MID-SOUTH NEWS FOR 08/27/01
    ----------------------------------------------
    Courtesy of www.iwamidsouth.com

Phoenix made his in ring return and defeated Richard X with a chicken
wing crippler crossface. He had crippler crossface on but also had
Richard's other arm in the chicken wing at the same time.
Alister Fear made his return to the IWA and defeated Cuefa The Flying
    Hawaiian with the Final Fear.

American Kickboxer def. Tarik the Great in a stretcher match. Tarik
refused to put the title on the line since he had defeated Kickboxer so many times lately. He stated that Kickboxer had to beat him to earn a title shot. Several times the match almost ended but the wrestler would get off the stretcher before they got to the dressing room. Kickboxer eventually wore down Tarik's leg enough with karate kicks and submission holds that he couldn't stand and thus won the match.

Rugby Thug Trent Baker def. Chip Fairway to retain the IWA Mid-South
heavyweight title. Chip hit a powerbomb and then applied the sandtrap. Jim Fannin jumped onto the ring apron to distract the referee while Thug was tapping out. Tarik the Great came out pushing a chair like a walker to help him get the ring. He got into the ring and sprayed Chip in the eyes with a can of air freshener and hit him with a ddt. Tarik then used the chair/walker to crawl back to the dressing room while Thug got the pinfall.

Mean Mitch Page & Marvelous Mitch Ryder def. Mark Wolf & Ian Rotten in a wild brawl. Jon Howard was loaded with hidden weapons including two different chains that came into play. First he got Mitch Ryder a small chain to wrap around his hand and drill Mark Wolf with to get the pin. They then duct taped Ian to the ropes and Jon got out a bigger chain that they wrapped around Ian's throat and tried to choke him out.

This sets up for Wednesday night a double dog collar tag match between these two teams. Also already announced for Wednesday night is American Kickboxer vs. Tarik the Great for the IWA Mid-South Lightheavyweight Title.

Wednesday's show is $5 admission, as always. Then, don't forget... 9/1 will be the No Rope Exploding Barbed Wire match, and the Sweet Science 16 tournament is 9/7 and 9/8. Visit www.iwamidsouth.com for all the details!

    NWA WILDSIDE NEWS

DAN "THE DRAGON" WILSON opened this installment of NWA
Wildside with a recap of what was called "one of the most
heinous acts" in the history of the promotion. JEFF G.
BAILEY and STEVE MARTIN had reunited the two NWA Elite
factions to decimate JIMMY RAVE when BILL BEHRENS came to
the ring to restore order. The Elite destroyed the "Vice
President of a corporate office" with a series of
finishers that sent Behrens to the hospital. A. J. STYLES,
ROB WILLIAMS, and TOTAL DESTRUCTION came out to rescue
Behrens. As punishment, the bossman, "Mr. Wildside"
Martin, booked them all in "survival" matches for this
week's show. If any of the faces lost, they were banished
from Arena Island for 30 days with no paychecks.

Wilson admonished his broadcast partner, STEVEN PRAZAK, for
another late arrival. "I'm still on ECW time." Prazak said
Behrens was not in the building and there was no update on
his medical condition. Wilson completed the recap. He
explained that the eternal phony cast on the arm of heel
ref ANDREW THOMAS was finally exposed when TNT saved LOST
BOYS during their main event "mismatch of a lifetime"
    against KOHL BROTHERS.

JUSTICE & SCHWANZ (with JEFF G. BAILEY) beat TOTAL "DAMN"
DESTRUCTION (SEAN ROYAL & RUSTY RIDDLE) in the first of a
series of survivors matches. Total Destruction shared a
few of their cold ones with the fans. Royal yanked off the
remnants of Thomas's cast and winged it into the crowd.

Just a short brawl that served as a vehicle to advance the
storyline. TD attacked with beer can shots. Royal gave
Schwanz an overhead DDT before their battle moved to the
floor. Riddle missed a charge into the corner. Justice
missed a legdrop off the second rope. Riddle with another
beer can to the head. Royal tossed Schwanz into the first
row and joined his partner in the ring for a double teams
suplex on Schwanz. TD had Schwanz set up for the Easy
Rider when Kohl Brothers shoved Riddle into a top rope
crotch shot. Schwanz rolled up Royal for the fast count pin.

Best part of this segment was the post match attempt to
evict TD. Riddle said it was a conspiracy. He invited
Martin to be a real man like Behrens and get his skinny
ass in the ring. Martin pretended that the Kohls were
holding him back. Royal called Martin by his old NCW name,
Chance (Williams). Royal said TD would be lurking
somewhere outside the building for 29 of those 30 days.
Martin threatened to call 911 if TD didn't leave the
premises. The Elite started waving and singing goodbye.
The hapless NCW security force was no match for TD as RODEO
and LOU LOU got lumps pounded on them. Lou Lou was juicing
    before it was over.

ROB WILLIAMS survived the 10 minute time limit against
DAVID YOUNG & TERRY KNIGHT (with STEVE MARTIN). Knight
came out wearing a Superman T-shirt. Wilson said he
wouldn't piss on Knight if he was on fire but had to give
him credit for toughness with the way he came back from
being torched. Prazak said it was grating on Knight that
the boy were calling him "Sparky" backstage. Wilson put
Young over as the "total package." A little different
packaging than the LEX LUGER version. Prazak mentioned
Young's past achievements as one half of BAD ATTITUDE.
Prazak said his attitude was even worse since joining
Martin. Wilson portrayed Williams as a stand up guy whose
actions put him on the Elite hit list (and moved him into
    the top tier babyface group).

Williams hit ring like he was shot out of a gun. He ducked
a double team and decked Young & Knight with a double
clothesline. Williams landed a series of rights. He hit
a dropkick on Knight and planted Young with an exploder
suplex. Williams ducked through the legs of Knight and
dropped him face first on the edge of the apron. Williams
climbed to the top for a missile dropkick on Young. Young
backed off to the floor. Williams gave chase until getting
caught by a surprise forearm from Knight. Young suplexed
Williams on the floor. Back in the ring, Knight worked
over the back and neck of Williams. Young kicked and choked
over the ropes. Knight used a gutwrench and slapped on the
rear chinlock. Williams fought is way out and ran into an
elbow as he bounced off the ropes. Williams went for a
backslide pin, but Young broke that up. Five minutes gone.
Young landed a flying lariat, a double foot stomp and a
field goal kick to the gut. Young whipped Williams face
first into the buckle and clotheslined him to the back of
the head. Knight used an old-fashioned knee lift. Tag to
Young for assist flying elbow drop. Knight & Young
generously went down off a double sunset flip attempt where
Williams lost his grip. Betrayed by the close up camera
once again. Knight & Young scored with a double flapjack.
Young did a kneedrop. The commentary questioned the
heels' strategy of not going for pins. Martin choked
Williams over the ropes. Young missed on a moonsault.
Williams came back with his swinging bulldog on Knight.
Young clotheslined Williams as Knight cut his legs out from
    behind.

Knight went for a crossface while Young applied the Boston
crab for a double team submission. Williams was able to
hang on for the last 30 seconds without tapping. Williams
sold it like he almost unconscious. That didn't stop
Martin's boys from giving him their double team finisher
times two before Styles hit the ring with a chair.

Back from commercial, SWEET DREAMS prepared to address his
brother, CAPRICE COLEMAN. Dreams showed mercy on the
viewers by saying that he couldn't do the falsetto voice
routine. Dreams was sorry for landing "the hottest
frogsplash in the world" on RAINMAN, thus costing BLACKOUT
the match. You hear that ROB VAN DAM? Take a back seat.
Blackout (HOMICIDE & Rainman) entered the ring to get in
the face of Dreams. Rainman clubbed Dreams from behind and
the beatdown was on, as Coleman stood by watching. Coleman
finally decided he had seen enough and jumped in to save
    his brother.

Just as Coleman cleared the ring, NEW JACK appeared with a
billy club and opened up on Coleman. Jack scored with
billy club shot to the nuts. Rainman whipped Coleman into
a New Jack lariat. After choking Coleman with the billy
club, Jack killed him dead with a brutal chairshot. No
    selling necessary.

New Jack cut a promo in the ring. Jack said he wasn't
picking sides. He was with Blackout but "...if I get
tired of them, I'll knock their ass out too...if the
money's right, your ass is getting knocked out tonight.
New Jack ain't give a hell about nothin' or
nobody...Steven "the Truth" (Prazak's name from his early
days in North Georgia Wrestling and Global Wrestling
Federation), when you take this back to the studio and
break it down and do your commentary, remember that this
is the nigger you don't want to mess with."

    A. J. STYLES survived the 15 minute time limit in a
handicap match against ADAM JACOBS & "THE ROLE MODEL"
JASON CROSS (with JEFF G. BAILEY). Cross is doing a total
Styles rip off now, complete with the entrance music and
ring attire from Styles' days with the NWA Elite. Bailey
about had an orgasm when Cross did a backflip during his
    intro.

An ultra fast paced match with high spots galore. Match
    was shown in edited form.

Styles charged across the ring with a lariat that sent
Cross to the floor. Jacobs kicked and punched. Jacobs
whipped Styles to the corner and ran into a boot the face.
Styles brought Cross into the ring hardway and gave Jacobs
a drop toehold into his partners' groin. Time out by the
Elite. After a series of reversals, Styles dropped Jacobs'
throat on the top rope and hit a slice & dice springboard
moonsault on Cross. Bailey and his team tried to regroup
again on the outside. Styles broke that up with a double
baseball slide that knocked the heels over the barricade.
Styles landed a springboard flying bodypress into the
second row. Styles went up top again, but Bailey shook the
ropes to send him crashing to the mat. Cross & Jacobs put
the boots to him. They whipped Styles who flipped into a
tree of woe position. That set up a new double team
consisting of baseball slide by Cross followed by a Jacobs
dropkick to the face. Cross used a swinging neckbreaker
and RICK RUDE style neckbreaker. In quick succession,
Styles blocked a dragon suplex, Cross blocked a tiger
suplex and Cross finally hit a release German suplex. Cross
did his rolling lucha style submission to set Styles up
for a dropkick by Jacobs. Jacobs whipped Styles into
another dropkick for a two count. Jacobs did a short arm
clothesline with 6 minutes gone in the match. Cross made
the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES foot tag. Styles knocked both
opponents off the top into back bumps and nailed Bailey as
he climbed on the apron to interfere. Jacobs & Cross
crotched Styles on the top buckle with a double dropkick
and did a huge double hiptoss off the top.

They rejoined the match with a minute to go and Styles in
control. Styles did a handstand into a double springboard
back elbow. Styles did his German suplex and facebuster on
Cross with Jacobs breaking up the pin attempt. Styles used
a jackknife powerbomb on Jacobs but Cross saved with a
dropkick. Jacobs & Cross caught Styles with a high
backdrop. Jacobs did the slingshot legdrop as the time
    expired.

Justice and Martin cut a phenomenal promo to close the show
where the monster heel manipulated the boss into giving
him his shot at the top babyface. Funny, funny stuff.
Justice and Martin were seen backstage starting to throw
a tantrum about Styles surviving. Justice told Martin to
calm down and get the wax out. "Steve, my God! Get some
cutex", as Justice looked disgusted by the gob of stuff
he harvested out of Mr. Wildside's ear. Justice said
something had to be done about Styles, and he begged
Martin to let him carry the ball. Justice could see the
light bulb going on over Martin's bald spot. Martin said
Styles never appreciated the break he got in
WCW. "Absolutely not, You got him that." Martin said he
was giving Justice a match with Styles in Kingsport.
Justice said he loved Martin but let's keep it platonic.
Justice whispered in Martin's ear. Martin suddenly had
the idea to make the match a falls count anywhere-no DQ-
Tennessee Street Fight. Justice was so excited he feared
he was about to lose control of his bodily functions.
Justice closed with his version of the Mickey Mouse club
theme "S-T-Y...Why? Because I'm gonna beat you down. L-E-
S...S? Because I'm the sickest man in NWA Wildside
    history."

The Kingsport Heatstroke show was pushed hard on several
ads during the hour. It was reported to be an excellent
house show. As mentioned in a previous column, Cross
replaced Justice as Styles' opponent when Justice got
booked for the MECW TV taping on the same night.
