Wrestlemania/Toronto update, More on Kane, Triple H/Excess, more

    - The "Thank You, Toronto" rally which was scheduled for next Monday (September 3rd) has been changed to a "WWF Announcement". This pretty much confirms that the Wrestlemania 2002 will take place at Toronto's SkyDome. The announcement will take place at noon at Nathan Philips Square.

    - The questions Triple H took during his appearance on WWF Excess were screened heavily because the WWF did not want any "smart" questions to be asked.

    - As of last night, Kane remained in a hospital for a serious elbow infection. He is hooked to an IV unit and will most likely remain in hospital for a few more days. He will not be working this weekend's house shows and a return date is unknown.

On Thursday, August 23, Road Warrior Hawk of The Legion Of Doom appeared on "THE SMACK!" radio/internet show, heard on WLFR (91.7 fm in Atlantic City, NJ). Here are some of the highlights of the interview:

    1. Hawk still has heat with Vince McMahon, stemming from their return to the WWF in 1997. During that time, Hawk & Animal approached McMAhon with a cartoon concepts similar to the new Osmosis Jones, but the thrust of which was to be the health benefits of taking care of your body. Hawk felt that McMahon killed the idea by having Hawk do the "high & intoxicated" angle as a way of killing the comic book idea. Says McMAhon doesn't care about things that do not make him money.

    2. Hawk says LOD was never used correctly during their second stint in the WWF. While they were told they were being brought back to boost ratings (the WWF as losing a ratings war to WCW at the time), they were constantly jobbing out to other tag teams, some having little or no talent.

    3. When LOD 2000 was formed, Hawk said they got along fine with Sunny (Tammy Sytch) in that short lived angle. He said he knew that Sytch had also stood up to McMahon on several occasions.

    4. When McMahon brought in former LOD manager Paul Ellering to the WWF, they thought they would be paired with him, only to have Ellering end up with Skull & 8 Ball (The Harris Twins). Hawk said that he felt that this was yet another way of McMahon trying to break down LOD.

    5. After the infamous 80 foot fall from the Titan Tron, he felt no ill will towards either Animal or DROZ for continuing the angle. He issued a shout out to DROZ, and said he'd be calling him soon.

    6. Hawk mentioned that every time he was around Vince McMahon, he felt the urge to first go home and take a shower, then go to his local church to get exorcised........called Vince the "devil incarnate". Despite that, he feels Vince is a genius, and that any new promoters will have a hard time trying to out do him now, although he says that a few people he knows are working on it.

    7. When asked about Animal showing up in WCW earlier this year, he said he was never scheduled to be part of the angle, as was reported all over the internet. Hawk says that he shares the same feelings for Eric Bischoff that he does for Vince McMahon, and thathe likely wouldn't have worked for him even IF asked.

    8. Hawk said he especially enjoyed his time in the old AWA, as well as working for both Paul Bosch, and Jim Crockett. He also enjoyed working for NWA promoter Dennis Coralluzzo, and he is working with Animal on the JCW tribute to Coralluzzo show on September 8th in New Jersey.

    9. There is a contact on their website, www.hawkandanimal.com to get in touch if any promoters want to book the LOD for their shows, and that their prices these days are quite reasonable.

    10. Hawk closed the interview by saying that the Road Warriors had made a very positive contribution to pro wrestling, and that they still had a lot to give to the business in the future.
