The show airs on 88.1 FM WBLQ in Westerly, Rhode Island on Thursday nights from 6-7:30 PM. This is only a review of the show; the whole show can be heard on www.chairshots.com with use of Real Player. This week’s guest is Disco Inferno. Part 1 - Brent welcomes everyone to the show. - Brent announces that Disco Inferno is on the phone. - Disco says he is currently doing Indy shows and is getting ready to do an overseas tour in October and one at the end of November. - Inferno says the overseas tour will consist of trips to Australia and England. - Disco says he has not been contacted by the WWF. - Inferno says he broke into the business after he graduated from the University of Georgia. He went to a tryout and was trained by the same man who trained Buff Bagwell. - Disco says he got into wrestling because the job market was terrible for the line of work he wanted to go into. - Inferno says he was always a wrestling fan and would go to the Omni in Atlanta to watch wrestling when he was in college. - Disco says that Diamond Dallas Page and Terry Taylor got him into WCW. He knew Page from the gym and he met Taylor at some Indy shows and they organized a tryout for him. He got to wrestle a match with Chris Kanyon and he was hired the next day. - Inferno said that he and Raven came up with the Disco Inferno character about seven or eight years ago. - Disco said that he likes the gimmick but he wouldn’t mind doing something else. - Inferno talks about the time he was fired from WCW for refusing to have a match with a girl. Kevin Sullivan explained the idea to him and told him to go have a competitive match with a 120-pound girl, and Disco said that the idea was ridiculous. When he was hired back to WCW Eric Bischoff explained it to him differently and Disco did the match. - Disco said his time at WCW was filled with highs and lows. He said when the business wasn’t doing well it was hard to get excited. - Inferno said that he was watching WCW Classics the other day and he realized that the matches from the 80’s sucked and he went on to say that the older wrestlers could wrestle crappy matches because the fans thought wrestling was real back then. He went on further to say that it was easier to perform in front of the “stupidest segment of society… the people who thought wrestling was real.” Disco then said to think about the average intelligence those people where performing in front of. - Disco said that wrestlers of today have it harder because the fans are smarter and know what entertainment is and you still have to entertain them. - Disco then went on to insult the 80’s wrestlers and their fans more by saying “How hard is it to entertain a bunch of fans that are border line retarded.” - Inferno said that the best match of the 80’s was Ricky Steamboat vs. Macho Man Randy Savage from WrestleMania 3 because that match is still good under today’s standards. - Disco talked about how he was on the booking committee at the end of the WCW run and how brutal it was because the production staff didn’t want to cooperate with them. - Disco said the booking committee consisted of himself, Vince Russo, Ed Ferrera, Terry Taylor, Bill Banks and Jerry Borash. - Inferno said that working with Vince Russo was great because he had the concept of what it takes to book wrestling. - Disco said that Vince Russo had a concept on booking wrestling shows to get ratings and it was… Don’t write for the fans and the Internet writers who watch every week because it doesn’t matter if they are entertained because they are still watching. He booked shows to try and pull in new viewers every week. - Inferno said that Russo would add Reality Bits, T and A, Comedy, Soap Opera angles…Anything that would pull in the people not watching wrestling because they don’t like wrestling…you have to give them what they want. - Disco said that there were a million reasons that WCW failed but the main reason is that the boss, Brad Seigal, was never at the shows and never at his office and he was taking money away from the show and it started to look like the bush leagues. - Disco said that during the last Nitro he was backstage with Jeff Jarrett in the Internet room and when Vince did his little segment on Jarrett they both looked at each other and started laughing. Disco asked Jeff if he was just fired and Jarrett said I guess so and that it was pretty harsh. Disco said it was a pretty funny moment. - Disco said that working with Hall and Nash in the N.W.O. was great and it was starting to get him over until Hall got hurt. - Inferno said that he thinks Hall has a brilliant wrestling mind but has his own personal demons. - To Contact Disco Inferno for Indy bookings you can Email wcwjborash@aol.com - Disco said that his favorite part of WWF TV lately has been the Austin/Angle/McMahon backstage humor. - Inferno said that they are probably trying to get the sitcom audience from Monday night TV to watch with these spots. - Disco is wrestling at the Outrageous World of Wrestling in Arkansas on July 27, 28 and 29. August 4th in Indiana, August 11th in North Carolina and a wrestling camp in Atlanta in early September. - Disco said he has already worked a show for Dusty Rhodes and that it is shaping up as a great regional promotion. - Disco Inferno signs off. - Rod and Brent send us to break.
