I Know What You Did Last Monday - The FINAL Edition

Hello, and welcome to the final edition of "I Know What You Did Last Monday". Yes you read it right, this is the last time I'll be writing this column on the LOP Main Page. It has been a couple of months since my last column, and for that I'd like to publicly apologize. It's been a crazy few months around here in which nothing seemed to go my way, especially time.

This is one of the reasons that I haven't been able to write. With my job taking up the entire day, driving home, eating dinner and trying to get whatever possible I can do squeezed into that couple of hours left in the day before I had to do it all over again just became overwhelming. One man, David Cahill kept getting on my case about it, "Where is your column?" and so on, but when I finally got the time to sit down and write, my COMPAQ (Never buy this brand) laptop broke. After a week or so I finally figured out a way to 'temporarily' fix the problem by carefully placing wires in certain positions so the computer would turn on. This lasted a whole week in which I found the time to write half a column, due to the length of mine as you all know it became harder to write it all in one sitting. This column was sidetracked by a BIG speedbump in the road of love for me.

I don't even know if you'd call this a speed bump, I think it qualifies more as a incredibly big car wreck in which there is no survivors, only 'friends'. As some may have guessed there is no girl of my dreams by my side at this point. I'll say this now, I don't get women. I've heard A LOT of things to 'help' me get over this whole ordeal, none of which really helped. I'll tell you what did help, but that'll come later. Here are a few things I heard, but when reading them put yourself in my shoes at the time of this break-up. You loved this girl with everything you were, she broke your heart and wants to be friends now, no real explanation, it came out of the blue.

    1) "Don't worry about it Brendan, girls are like buses. You miss one, another will be along for you to catch in no time"
    2) "Forget about her man, we didn't like her anyway"
    3) "You're still young, if I was young again I wouldn't stick with one. Love'm and leave'm"
    4) "There are plenty of fish in the sea. Throw your rod back in the pond and get one of them to yank on it"

You get the idea.no help at all. Men, so sensitive aren't they?

Why do girls ALWAYS think it's easy to be friends? I know this is a wrestling column, but this is more of a good-bye column, and I'm sure anyone who reads these columns can relate to these things, plus I'm explaining my absence. I just don't know how women do it. Guys dump a girl and that's that. It's over. He's a jerk, she's sad. Now, if a nice guy (me) who gives everything to a girl that eventually feels that she is having a change of feelings inside, not meaning that she doesn't love you, but more or less meaning you shouldn't date anymore, wants to be friends. She doesn't want to lose you because of how good you were to her, but she doesn't want to be with you at the same time.

And they actually think that we'll be like "Oh thank god! At least we can be friends! I thought after we broke up and things became akward with me being around you due to my still strong feelings for you that we'd actually 'be apart' for a little bit. But as long as we can hang out as buddies everything will be fine. Maybe I can pick out an outfit for you to go on a date with someone else?"

Come on. Ladies, that is not the way to do it. If you're going to rip out a guy's heart, do it. But don't hold onto it after, give him the damn broken thing and let him try to mend it himself.

So for that whole shindig I needed some time off because, well I was crushed. I couldn't think, let alone write a column. So there was that. After a week, in which I was still out of it but had to write, I began writing. Once again things got in the way, this time it was my little wires-everywhere computer. The wires moved and broke, and that was the last breath of my COMPAQ laptop. I called the manufacturer and they said the part that broke wasn't fixable since the warranty had run out, so I'd have to buy a new laptop. As if. So I waited a week, computerless/internetless, and picked up a new computer non-laptop.

After this whole ordeal with the computer I realized that I just haven't had the time as of late to do the column. I'm leaving LOP on good terms with management and am doing what is best at this time for everyone. Someone will get to step up into my main page position who can get it done week in and week out, and I get to free my mind from worry about trying to fit getting the column done in my week, while feeling bad when I don't get it done. Who knows maybe I'll be back in the future when an opening appears and I have the time again, but for now this is what's best and what needs to be done.

Now back to how I fixed things myself with the whole 'break-up' thing. Well I didn't fix things, but after this whole thing I felt like crap. I had been dumped. After you're dumped you do not feel all that confident, or whatnot. Well you might, but after a real serious relationship you don't.or maybe it's just me. Either way I was low on self-esteem. Now prepare to laugh. I went to an O-Town concert. No I'm not some hardcore music lover, and no I'm not gay (Not that there's anything wrong with that) I just saw the show a few times, and liked the music. So I went with a friend of mine. Call me gay, call me stupid for liking a 'boy band' but you can call me smart for the one fact for who goes to these concerts? Women. Lots and LOTS of girls. There were about 8 guys there. Me, my friend, and 6 others I saw who had g/f's thus they were forced. So put me and my bud in an park with thousands of teenage girls and you get what I got. Higher self-esteem.

Yes sir, I was called hot more times than the weather (And it was hot). Girls would walk by and smile, blush, everything. Damn, I was starting to get big headed! Naw, but it was what I needed. I felt like I could survive the whole 'break-up'. It'd take time but this was a MAJOR step I needed, and it came at the right time. I left the show that night with 4 phone numbers, all girls, all hot, and all who felt the same about me. Needless to say I wasn't feeling to gay leaving this boy band concert.

I feel like I'm venting a lot, but I feel my readers may want to hear this. Even if they don't it's here to read, and don't worry. I'll have a little wrestling talk below. But first.

    A SPECIAL THANKS TO:

First I'd like to thank Calvin Martin. This is a guy who runs it all. He gave me this shot, and he gave me the time I needed to write here for a little over half a year on the main page. He put up with a lot of excuses as you can see above, even though justified he is a very patient understanding guy and I thank him for my time here at LOP.

Second I'd like to thank Mr. Tito. Love him or hate him, you've got to respect him! He writes a column a day. Damn, even if they aren't always long, it's still one a day and that takes time and patients in itself. I want to thank him for my shot in the Phat Pharm. After a LOT of sample columns he signed me on and it led to my main page run. Don't be shocked if I email him and take him up on his 'Hall Of Famers' guest writing spot in the Pharm in the future. It won't be all the time, but every so often if he agrees I'll throw up my thoughts for all my fans and readers. So keep an eye out at the Pharm for me, but don't email Tito about it, email me and I'll keep you updated on when I plan to send one in. Thanks again Tito.

Last, but not least I'd like to thank you the readers. Without you guys I'd have had no motivation to write for as long as I did. You all supported my ideas, thoughts and views and 98% of my email was full of extremely positive emails towards my opinions and my writing. I thank you all and only wish I could have given you all more. I hope you all write in at least on last time to lastmonday@lordsofpain.net and give me your final thoughts and if you would like to see me in the Pharm every so often.

Also, you can reach me on ICQ at 22452147 to just talk about wrestling, or whatever you want.

Now onto the wrestling shall we? It won't be much as I'm sure everyone who's around has read enough on the InVasion and ratings and all. So I'm going to write about 2 feuds and three men. You'll see.

The Brahma Bull, The Rattlesnake & The Game

This idea just came to me with the upcoming Rock/Austin feud. I thought about what I personally think is the greatest feud of all time in The Rock VS Triple H, then I thought about what is always an incredibly built up epic war in The Rock VS Steve Austin.

The reason why I put The Rock VS Triple H at the top of my list of all time feuds is because of the total hatred the two have for each other. It is ALWAYS a feud not forgotten. Whether it be a month in between something controversial that happens between the two, or a year the hatred is still there, everyone remembers what happened and everyone loves the big bout that comes of it. No matter the match, no matter the amount of time given to the two of them they take the match to the limits and they put on GREAT shows. Everyone says they could watch TLC matches over and over, or E+C VS The Hardy Boys again and again, well I could watch The Rock and Triple H go at it for ever, and we've got that chance. Triple H VS Austin, the two HATED each other, then became 'buds' to take out The Rock. Where did that hatred go?

No matter what, The Rock and Triple H always have and always will hate each other, that is what makes their matches so emotional and memorable. Sure they were on the Corporation together way back when for a couple of months, but they didn't like each other and that was apparent during that time. My all time favourite match between the two occurred at SummerSlam Highway To Hell. Yes the highlight of that horrid card pitting Austin VS The Undertaker, and Jeff Jarrett VS X-Pac in a hair match, was The Rock VS Triple H in the ladder match that really pushed both men to a higher level on the roster. The first cheers for The Rock were heard during that match, and Triple H ended up becoming injured thus leaving an opening for The Rock to step into the main event.

These two compliment each other in and out of the ring without even realizing it. The same can be said with The Rock and Austin, but that is on a different level.

The Rock and Austin feud at different times most few and far between, but always seem to make the most intense matches and stories come of them. Take their first encounter over the IC title. Hell, the story was so interesting and back and forth we all loved it! Then when it came down to it, Austin just handed the damn IC title back to The Rock to go for the World Title. No worry, after a long hiatus between the two we have a world title feud that was LONG awaited at the time. This took place at WM15.

The Rock was a heel, Austin was the face and for the FIRST time someone kicked out of the Stunner. In the end, after an awesome build up Austin won the match to make everyone happy. Then the rematch a month later led to another epic build up, leaving all us WWF fans satisfied for a while after a 2 month straight Rock/Austin feud that was told beautifully. After that match The Rock went face, which the fans were longing for and Austin continued to hold the title for a while.

Then we have their last bout at WM17, which was another GREAT match, and another GREAT built up feud. Both as faces everyone was unsure as to how things would go down. Austin heel? Rock heel? No heels? Big Screwjob? Nobody knew, only guesses could be made. For a double face feud this was pulled off with utter beauty, both nailing finishers on each other, both being made out as equals, so many questions left to be answered, and when Austin joined Vince, things went right up! We saw another bout the next night and we saw The Rock taken out due to Triple H AND Austin.

So what was the point in all of that? No REAL point, just two great feuds that will never grow tired, and when they pop up again every now and then the true winners are the fans. We now see ourselves on the brink of Austin/Rock #5if memory serves me right. And when I went into Invasion all I wanted was Austin to join WCW. That would make it okay if EVERY match other than that sucked, even though they didn't I left watching Invasion happy.

We now have The Rock on his way back as THE MAN in the WWF, we now have Austin as THE MAN in WCW, the HEEL! Summerslam will RULE this year, unless what I think will happen, happens. With the way things are going I see Angle being involved in the main event, UNLESS he feuds with Booker T going into Summerslam. I see either a Triple Threat match, or a tag match with Rock/Angle VS Austin/Booker T. I think 1 on 1 matches in this case would make Summerslam one of, if not the BEST in the history of the series.

If I had too choose the better of the two, I don't know if I could. They both have their own high points, but I would have to say that Triple H and The Rock's deep down hatred for each other just makes everything amazing in their favour. Not to mention their 60 minute Iron Man match.simply amazing.

I don't know why I felt I wanted to talk about that as my last topic, but I feel it was just something I wanted to write down before I signed off.

So in the end, that was that. I Know What You Did Last Monday comes to an end. The long drawn out series of columns reaches its unclimatic climax. I'll be around, and I'll write Tito sometime soon to ask about the Pharm offer in hopes that my fans will want to see my opinions at various times in the future and in hopes that Tito allows it. In short, email me, lastmonday@lordsofpain.net write me, or ICQ me. I'll be around, I just wont be on the main page of things.

Thanks to everyone that has been supportive and has given me these opportunities this past year.

This is Brendan Campbell, The People's writer, signing off.
