- Lately, we have been following a new promotion entitled Main Event Championship Wrestling. John Collins will be the promotion owner and promoter and plans on running a promotion with more emphasis on traditional wrestling and less of a sexual involvement. Collins has already signed Buff Bagwell to an exclusive three-year deal and has The Sandman and Tracy Smothers both wrestling and working in the front office. Curt Henning and Terry Taylor are expected to join the promotion within the next few days as well. Randy Savage may also sign with the company but only under the right circumstances and talks have been initiated with Scott Hall and the Road Warriors.

As far as television goes, the promotion has announced that UPN-57 in Philadelphia, The Sunshine Network in Florida, The America One network and the UPN affiliate for Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois and Northern Kentucky will air the promotion's television shows that begin on September 18th. Collins hopes to have Joey Styles, Don Callis and Terry Funk as part of his announce team. Their television pilot, taped a few weeks ago, has also been sent to three other networks that, as of the present time, remain nameless. David Penzer, former WCW ring announcer, has either already signed or is close to being signed to work for Collins' promotion. MECW is currently in the works of running tours of Costa Rica and England while a tour of Canada will run next month.
