- Former ECW champion, The Sandman, is starting a new wrestling promotion, which already has a major backer to fund it. Sandman will play the role of head booker for the federation. The promotion's debut show will take place on August 11th at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Other shows also booked will take place on September 20th in Danbury, Connecticut, September 21st in Binghamton, September 22nd again at the ECW Arena and September 23rd in Salisbury, Maryland. Talent signed to compete for the promotion are Sabu, Bill Alfonso, Curt Henning, Public Enemy, Dawn Marie, Simon Diamond, The Blue Meanie, Jasmin St. Claire, Mikey Whipwreck, Steve Corino, Little Guido, Tony Mamaluke, Crowbar, Joey Matthews, Christian York and Jack Victory. Negotiations with other big name talent is currently being held. The show airs on 88.1 FM WBLQ in Westerly, Rhode Island on Thursday nights from 6-7:30 PM. This is only a review of the show; the whole show can be heard on www.chairshots.com with use of Real Player. This week’s guests are Guido Maritato, Fred Curry Jr.- The Rocket, and Christian. Part 1 - Brent and Rod welcome everyone to the show as they announce they are doing a live remote from a fair. - Brent and Rod announce they will have a pre recorded interview, (from earlier in the day) with Christian on later in the show. - Brent announces that Guido Maritato is on the phone. - Guido said that last weekend he worked for the WXW in Allentown, he also worked for the MCW on Sat. 7/21 in their Tag Team Tournament in Chicago. On Sunday 7/22 he was in Long Island for USA Pro Wrestling. - Maritato talked highly of MCW (Midwest Championship Wrestling) - Guido stated that Tony has been doing the last few shows with him in Tag Team action. - Maritato said he and Tony were going to be wrestling on Fri. 7/20 in New Jersey and again on Sun. 7/22 in Wayne, New Jersey. - Guido said that his dark match with Tony at Madison Square Garden before Raw went well, he said they wrestled Danny Doring and Roadkill. Guido says he hasn’t heard anything from the WWF since the match. - Maritato says that Big Sal is keeping busy and shifting from wrestling into the entertainment business. He did a Twix commercial and from their he was given movie opportunities. - Guido says that he didn’t want to comment on the internet reports (ex. Jason Powell’s) that the WWF didn’t like his dark match because it was ECW spot heavy. He then went on to say that he has read many reports and as far as he knows they are not true. - Maritato says that he likes what he sees from WWF TV lately since they added the ECW angle. He says it really grabbed the viewers’ attention and made the Invasion better. - Guido says that he doesn’t think that Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer will have any trouble adjusting to the smaller time slots for a match or the larger rings because they are professionals. - Maritato says he prefers to work a 10-11 minute match. - Guido says he thinks Spike Dudley is doing great with the WWF and that he is very happy for him. - Maritato said that the FBI T-shirts don’t exist anymore because they were done through ECW and he doesn’t expect them to make anymore. - Guido promotes his web site www.littleguido.com where he will be selling merchandise, which includes 8 x 10’s and action figures. Guido will also post his commentary every couple of weeks to let his fans know where he will be wrestling. Guido gives out his EMAIL address, ecwshooter@aol.com - Maritato said he has been in contact with a few companies over in Japan, but he doesn’t want to say anything about which ones right now because he doesn’t want to jinx himself. - Guido says he hopes one day he can be in the WWF but right now he’s just gonna keep training, lifting weights, tanning and working Indy’s until he gets an opportunity. - Maritato said that he has not heard anything from Hulk Hogan’s promotion and plugs his web site again. - Guido tells his fans not to give up on him yet as he signs off. - Rod and Brent praise Little Guido as The Rocket Fred Curry Jr. shows up on location to talk to the guys. - Rod promotes the rest of the show as we go to break. Part 2 - Rod welcomes everyone back to the fair in Westerly. - Brent welcomes The Rocket Fred Curry Jr. to the show. - Curry said that he has some bookings coming up in August with New England Championship Wrestling. - Rocket also stated that September is going to be "smokin" for him and that Chairshots will be the first to hear the big news. - The Rocket Fred Curry was calling out The Hippie Freak Nick Richards for a match and said that Richards is ducking him. Curry said he will follow the Hippie Freak all over the country and he will fight him anytime, anyplace. - Rod goes over the ratings for WWF TV. - Rod talks about the death of Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy at age 40, who died of an apparent heart attack which was caused by a blood clot. - Rod gives out the address for condolence cards for the Gordy family. - Rod says that on Jim Ross stated in his conference call that the announcer situation is not settled and that he and Michael Cole were not an ideal team, but it will have to do for now. Ross also said that he has not ruled out Jerry "The King" Lawler coming back. JR stated that the WWF Creative Team has not come up with anything for Shawn Michaels yet. - Jim Ross denied the rumor that many WWF stars were going to be laid off. - JR said that some of the WCW guys who haven’t been on TV (Elix Skipper, Kid Romeo, Johnny The Bull) will probably be sent down to developmental organizations like HWA because they are still a little green. - Rod stated that there would be two live Smackdown’s in August. - Rod announced that the WWF is suing Canadian bars for showing the WWF Pay Per Views illegally. - Rod promotes Chyna’s new web site www.bodybyjoanie.com - Rod announces that Dustin Rhodes will be joining his father Dusty in Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling on Aug 4th in Georgia. - Rod talks about Tom Zenk’s commentary on www.wrestlingobserver.com that he read, regarding the sale of WCW. - Rod and Brent discuss the Dark Matches from Raw on 7/16 from Providence, RI featuring Kevin Landry vs. Chris Kanyon and Shawn Stasiak vs. Tim McNeddy. - Rod and Brent fight about words that I can’t even spell and Rod promotes the rest of the show as we go to break. Part 3 - Brent welcomes everyone back from break and thanks all the sponsors who got them to the fair. - Rod states that he and BJ Bethel will be attending the Pillman show out in Ohio. - Rod says that he appreciated Les Thatcher for inviting him out to the show and he is excited about seeing the show and meeting BJ Bethel for the first time. - Rod and Brent discuss the Raw from Providence on 7/16 and what happened when Raw went off the air. (Chairshots was representing at this show….Rod, Brent, Myself and others) - BJ Bethel calls in and announces some new matches that Les Thatcher announced for the Pillman show. They are 1.Hugh Morrus vs. Mark Henry, 2. David Flair vs. Steve Corino for the NWA Title Belt, 3. Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn vs. Raven and Justin Credible, 4. Booker T. vs. Kanyon vs. Diamond Dallas Page and 5. Billy Kidman vs. Jerry Lynn vs. X-Pac. - BJ talks about the flash floods that have hit Cincinnati and the problems the HWA has had with it. - BJ states that Invasion has a lot to live up to. - BJ said that merging WCW and ECW was brilliant because they compliment each other well and give each other what they need. - Rod, Brent and BJ give their Invasion predictions (By the way, I was a dismal 1-7). - Rod successfully predicts that Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy would steal the show at Invasion. - BJ plugs his columns at www.1wrestling.com as he signs off. - Rod and Brent preview the rest of the show as we go to break. Part 4 - Brent welcomes everyone back from break and again thanks the sponsors for the fair. - Rod announces that it is time for the Christian interview that he conducted earlier in the day. - Rod announces that Christian is on the line. - Christian says he is looking forward to his match with Edge vs. Lance Storm and Mike Awesome at Invasion. - Christian said that he was excited to have the WCW/ECW guys aboard because it adds the excitement of something new for the fans. - Christian said that he knew more about Lance Storm than he did about Mike Awesome because Lance was also Canadian and they went back a few years. - Christian said that he feels that no matter which Stone Cold is on TV. He thinks it’s good for the WWF. He thinks the WWF needs Stone Cold and he plays a good role every time. - Christian said that he looks for the biggest, most obnoxious sunglasses he can find when out shopping. - Christian went on to say that the catch phrases they use are given to them on some occasions and the rest are thought of through brainstorming. - Christian said that the rumors of the breakup between him and Edge are false and that they wrestled in the singles matches as a challenge and it made them more prepared for future tag matches. - He also stated that he is sure that somewhere down the line when Edge and Christian have run their course that they will become singles wrestlers. - Christian said that he just got married and he now lives in Florida on the same street as Chris Jericho. - Christian said that Invasion would be very entertaining with lots of twists and turns. - Christian said that everyone backstage is a pretty good sport about the promos that he and Edge cut on them. - Rod thanks Christian for being on and Christian signs off. - Brent compliments Rod on his interview with Christian. - Brent and Rod discuss Freddie Blassie at Raw and the comments Stephanie McMahon made about him. - Rod previews the rest of the show as we go to break. Part 5 - Rod welcomes everyone back from break. - Rod then goes over the Smackdown!
