- World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. has reached a temporary settlement with Barbara Balaber-Strauss, a trustee for HHG bankrupcy, for use of the ECW name for promotional purposes. This agreement will last until the end of the month, pending the finalization of an agreement where WWFE would purchase the rights to the ECW name as well as its video library for $250,000. Other parties may make counter offers and should they secure the ECW name, WWFE would be notified to cease their use of the ECW name and trademarks. - The Miami Herald has put up an article on the 2001 Brian Pillman Memorial show. As you know, Eric Bischoff is among those personalities who are being accused of receiving sexual favors from the club's dancers. The article reveals that Bischoff is scheduled to testify in the case this week. Credit: AccessAtlanta.com. roddixon pointed this out to us. Christopher Parr sent in the following: I was just watching Pulse 24, part of the Chum City umbrella and they were airing the top news stories of the day. One which included a press conference with the Toronto Mayor, Mel Lastman. They did not air the entire press conference, but Lastman basically made a public note of interest that Toronto was being considered as a possible location for Wrestlemania 18 next year. As usual one of the media reps asked of the mayor "Is Wrestling real?". Mayor Lastman played off the question with one of his representatives putting a fake headlock on him. He then simply stated wrestling is great entertainment. Pulse 24 then took to the streets to ask a few people if they were interested in Wrestlemania and if it would make up for losing the 2008 Olympic bid. The people they asked turned down the idea of WWF wrestling in Toronto, but agreed it would probably bring a lot of interest to Toronto. So really if the mayor of Toronto is making a public mention of Toronto being considered, I'd say it's a good bet that Toronto might just get Wrestlemania 18. Note: TSN was airing segments of the press conference all evening as well. WV: Exclusive Interviews, News, Results, More!
