News and Notes from Linda McMahon conference call Submitted by Calvin Martin on Thursday, June 28, 2001 at 2:39 PM EST
Linda McMahon held a conference call today on WWFEcorpbiz.com. Below are the important notes:
Major WWF/WCW confrontation at July PPV Invasion.
No television program for WCW.
WCW will be integrated into current WWF television on Monday and Thursday nights. Without giving away storylines, after Invasion we will see some breakouts which will challenge Mondays and Thursdays between the two seperate companies. Draw your own conclusions.
Talked with TNN and MTV about creating an additional 2 hour program. After all the costs they settled on integration.
If a spin-off of WCW made sense to MTV and TNN, then they are not ruling that out. If they feel like they want to talk about it when that time arises they will.
Around mid-August, Smackdown will be broadcast live on Thursdays. Mentioned this will prevent internet sites from providing spoilers.
Live tour ideas being thrown around include - WWF running Mon, Tues, Thurs; WCW running Wed, Fri, Sat. Again, not set in stone.
WCW PPV's tentatively start in October. No exact date yet.
WWFE will judge the buys of the October PPV to see how they will move forward for WCW PPV's.
Opportunity for more over seas events with the aquisition of WCW. May stress production crew but believes they can handle it.
Shifting home video focus to DVD.
Tough Enough soundtrack set for September or October - 50/50 split for MTV and WWF.
Stephanie is not married.
Holiday season 2001, a new music disk anthology will be released.
WWF The Music Volume 6 released in spring 2002 although they may change the name.
The Rock will be paid 5.5 million dollars for Skorpion King, plus a percentage of the box office fees.
