    Gimmicks Die Hard
'Just like Tradition, Gimmicks also Die Hard'

Hello and Welcome to another edition of Gimmicks Die Hard. I am your host as
usual to guide you through the insanity that is Professional Wrestling. Or
is it Sports Entertainment, nevermind let's Roll the Intro.

    On Today's GDH.

    News Bytes

I urge you (if you haven't already) to read the interview that
1Wrestling.com's Dave Scherer conducted with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. I
for one was very interested about Steve's thoughts on his current role in
the WWF, and what he felt about his current health.

I am heavily involved in Sunday's PPV. Nope, not King of the Ring! - but my
e-fed is putting on a huge PPV entitled 'HIW Overload'. To have a look at
another side to my work, visit the GDH website at
    www.gimmicksdiehard.cjb.net

Chyna seems to have bitten the dust. Or so we are led to believe. It seemed
it was only a matter of time that this situation was going to take place,
but seeing as we do not know enough about the situation, there is no point
    speculating.

I enjoyed Raw this week and I also enjoyed many of the promo's. Tajiri and
Regal are so damn funny. Austin was on top form as well with his promo's.
Even the opening interview was fun to watch. What an adrenaline rush DDP got
when he took that mask off. Shame his promo went on for far too long.

I am looking forward to watching Smackdown, but since this column has got
out earlier I have not been able to see it. Though at least I have the
opportunity to see it, eh Wig-boy?

Diana Hart stirred a bit pot of s*** in her 'Chairshots' Interview this past
week. The Hart Family saga is an very interesting one, almost like a soap
opera. Her book is certain to ruffle some feathers, if her interview is
    anything to go by.

Vince McMahon is not a Billionaire anymore. That's a shame, but maybe he
will learn this time around not to go branching out into other projects that
    are doomed to fail.

King of the Ring 2001 Preview

The last two KOTR PPV's sucked. No two ways about it really. But something
tells me that this year's event is going to improve, in fact it seems like
it could be another great WWF PPV to add to the list which contains the
Royal Rumble, No Way Out and of course, WrestleMania.

Remember how everyone felt about the Judgment Day PPV. Complete apathy, but
the PPV turned out to be a little better than it's predecessor, Backlash.

But what is the reason why the majority of people are anticipating this year
's KOTR. Is it the Streetfight between Shane McMahon and Kurt Angle? - Is it
the actual King of the Ring Tournament which contains 4 bona fide stars in
the making, and that they are all affiliated with each other in some form or
another? - Is it that finally Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho get the
opportunity to smash the proverbial 'glass ceiling' in their WWF Title match
with kingpin Steve Austin? Or is it that DDP is going to make another
appearance slugging it out with The Undertaker.

It could be one or more of the above. Though the main issue is the
uncertainty as to where the next WCW 'Invasion' is going to come from.

When the WWF announced that they would be renaming their annual 'Fully
Loaded' PPV (which I might add last year's event was fantastic), it did not
take a brain neurologist to work out that WCW was going to have some part to
play. Why would the WWF rename a PPV and call it 'Invasion'.

Putting the WCW Issue aside for one moment, the WWF absolutely blew my
analysis of the Quarter-Finals to pieces. I mentioned last week that Jeff
Hardy was the only official face wrestler in the tournament. As Raw went on,
you could tell what the WWF was going to do.

They have been teasing a break up of Edge and Christian, for quite some
time. Why not add there two accomplices in crime, and put them in the most
prestigious elimination tournament. Many people are confused as to who will
    win the crown.

I would love Rhyno to win the title, because is has potential in abundance.
Also, something tells me that Kurt Angle could repeat his achievement of
last year, and do it again.

But I think a unnamed WCW wrestler *cough* Booker T *cough* will cost Angle
his semi-final match with Christian, and make it a E & C final, with a
possible break up. That would be the most logical route, but the WWF will go
completely in the opposite direction, as always.

Speaking of Kurt Angle, I think he will beat Shane McMahon. There is no
point to have Shane win the match, because Kurt is so damn over, it hurts. I
am quite sure the WWF will not make him lose everything in one night, or
    will they?

    Hit my Music!

In last week's I was setting a question which would ask what you thought
currently was the best entrance music around at the moment. Specifically in
the WWF. After many, many e-mails I have collated the opinions and put
together a 'Top 5' List of the Best Entrance Music for a current wrestler in
    the WWF.

    #5 - Shane McMahon

Very interesting to see that some people do like Shane's theme. I think it
debuted at his match against The Big Show at the Backlash PPV. Everyone
seems to like it, apart from me.

    #4 - Chris Benoit

The problem was when Benoit was heel and at times not 'over' with the fans,
if you listen carefully to the section of the theme which stops albeit for 2
seconds, you can tell whether the crowd are into it or not. Nowadays, this
theme fits him perfectly. Especially with the start to the theme, which uses
a similar idea to the Austin theme.

    #3 - Chris Jericho

Seems to me that Jericho's music was really the first theme that was written
especially for the wrestler in question. I like it, though everytime I hear
'Rollin', I have had enough, because I have heard the song numerous times.

    #2 - Steve Austin

The song that everyone loved to hate. How on earth could they of changed
Austin's music. They could of put any song on, but the smashing of the glass
would always ensure a huge reaction. I do like the theme, I just can't stand
    the lyrics.

    #1 - Triple H

There seemed to be a time, when HHH could not decide what music he wanted to
have. Recently he had the theme, which Stephanie McMahon uses, then it got
re-mixed when he admitted to having a major role in running down Steve
Austin. Now we are treated to one of the best entrance themes that we have
ever heard. The current theme is excellent and fits HHH so well, and that
seems to be the general consensus with everyone.

Other themes which did not make it into the Top 5 were Tazz, William Regal,
Hardy Boyz, Mick Foley, Gangrel / Brood, Kurt Angle, Undertaker, APA, Edge &
    Christian, X-Factor (??), Test, Raven.

Thanks to everyone who took part. This week I will reverse the question:

Q: What is currently the worst entrance theme music for a wrestler in
    the WWF?

What entrance theme do you currently hate in the WWF? - What theme makes
your damn ears bleed when you hear it? - What theme makes you want to say
'change the freaking entrance theme please!'?
