It's True: WWF's Angle Visits PNC Park

WWF superstar and Mt. Lebanon, Pa., native Kurt Angle visited PNC Park for the first time Thursday.

The current bad boy of professional wrestling was on hand to throw out the first pitch before the Pirates took on the Philadelphia Phillies.

"I'm out of my element," Angle said of throwing the first pitch. "I'm doing something that I'm not used to doing. But I'm always a little nervous in front of the Pittsburgh fans."

That didn't seem to be the case earlier this year when Angle was at Mellon Arena. He addressed the crowd from in the ring and talked a little bit of smack on Penguin owner and player Mario Lemieux.

There were no insults being thrown at PNC Park, however. Just baseballs.

Angle, who has 20 action figures after just two years of professional wrestling, met with Pirates catcher Jason Kendall, who is a big WWF fan, and the rest of the team.

"You look a lot bigger than the last time we saw you," quipped first baseman Kevin Young.

Angle got a bit of a surprise when right fielder Derek Bell challenged him to a match. The two wrestled for several moments. Bell thought that he should be allowed to hit Angle with a chair since he was smaller. Bell wanted to be the bad guy, but Angle wouldn't go for it.

Angle said that he didn't care if Bell was smaller. He'd hit him anyway.
