- Reportedly, Diamond Dallas Page will play a major part in the WCW invasion angle and is expected to be on "team WCW" at the proposed WWF vs. WCW multi-man match at next month's WWF Invasion pay-per-view. - The following is a recap of Harley Race's appearance on the Wrestlepalooza Audio Show, LoP's official audio show: The crew of the Wrestlepalooza Real Audio show went one-on-one with the legendary Harley Race. The interview can be heard in its entirety at http://www.wrestlepalooza.com/audioshow.html Here are some highlights from the interview: -Race currently has two members of his promotion working in Japan. He thinks that his students will benefit from wrestling in Japan and working with somebody that they will have trouble communicating with. -He said that the Japanese style is more based on wrestling and less on talking and he teaches a combination of both. -His early training was on a straw mat on a concrete floor, which forced him to learn mat wrestling instead of taking bums. He would go on later to take bumps on rings that were as stiff as those mats. -Race's favorite people to work with were Bruiser Brody and Dick "The Bruiser" in the rough style and Jack Briscoe and Dory Funk in the other style. -On losing the title to Tommy Rich, Race said that he (Rich) was at the right place at the right time and was one of the shortest-lived champions. -His program with Giant Baba for the NWA title allowed him to meet one of the most likeable people he ever met and he loved to wrestle Babe because he gave it all in his matches. -The decision to go to the WWF was a financial one because he had lost $750,000 in the Midwest. This was during a time when a lot of people were 'turning their backs' on the NWA. -His work in the WWF with Junkyard Dog was very memorable for Harley because of what a great person JYD was. -Race became a manager in WCW because he did not want to leave the business and say that his career was over because it had been his life since he was 15. He knew that it was a young man's business and it was time to find another role. After he was done in WWF as a "yes man" in the office, but he chose not to because he wouldn't want to be a yes man for Shane McMahon, Vince Russo, or Eric Bischoff. -He went to the shows in the Missouri area because he was still friends with a lot of the guys and they knew that he and his wife love to cook and they would have a place to go. -Race is not a big fan of the current state of wrestling and says that his motto at his school is "Shut Up and Wrestle!" -He listed the select group of guys that could both wrestle and talk, those being Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Steve Austin, The Rock, and Triple H, who is the best at doing both. -Race thinks that if they did a pay-per-view consisting of Indy workers they would have to have a lot of veteran talent mixed in to make it work. Race has 4 or 5 kids that have the ability to make it big in both the U.S and Japan. He thinks that the promotion should work out very well for both sides. A lot of the other indys he believes will struggle for a while for trying to get these available big names to appear on their shows. -He believes that if Ted Turner would not have sold to AOL/Time Warner that WCW would still be on TV and now it is going to be very difficult for somebody to get a new promotion started to compete and get a television deal. -Race thought that Vince McMahon can be honorable, if you can get his world. He thought that Jerry Lawler lets his mouth overload his rear-end. He also thought that Hulk Hogan was a charismatic blow-hard. -Information about Harley Race and his school and the WLW promotion are available on his website, http://www.harleyrace.com. Past guests on the Wrestlepalooza Real Audio show include Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Dusty Rhodes, Spike Dudley, Shane Douglas, Daffney, Ron "H2O" Waterman, Lenny Lane, and "Dr. Death" Steve Williams.
