Hello and welcome to the very last WWF Classics Report of the year 2001. With the countdown to New Year on, you can be sure that in a few hours the majority of us will end up either with our heads down the toilet, in bed with the girl next door, or visiting a wrestling site other than LordsofPain. So if you can stay sober for the next few minutes to make it through this report, i would be very grateful.

Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan are todays commentators, and welcome us to the show. The opening video rolls, and up today we have Superstar Billy Graham, The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, Jake "The Snake" Roberts and The Hart Foundation. Not only that, but Danny Davis and Bam Bam Bigelow will be making their debuts here on Wrestling Challenge! It's a show set to reek of awesomeness, so let's head down to the ring and find out whether it is indeed to good to be true.

Match #1
Superstar Billy Graham vs. Tim Patterson
As former world heavyweight champion Billy Graham makes his way to the ring (to a standing ovation i might add), Heenan says, "By the way Superstar Graham is dressed, obviously some cheap hotel is missing their shower curtain!" He tosses the bandana out to the crowd, and then wastes no time in backing Patterson up into the corner. He begins to unload and rams Patterson's head against the turnbuckle, as the crowd is seemingly buzzing. He whips Patterson to the ropes and delivers an elbow to the sternum area, before going back to the turnbuckles. Superstar whips him to the ropes and delivers a double axehandle, before continually ramming Patterson's face down to the canvas. Heenan questions whether Tim Patterson is any relation to Pat Patterson which i myself was wondering, but Monsoon seems to doubt it. Patterson takes a time out on the outside, but when he gets back in he finds him in the arms of Superstar's bearhug. He then gives up.

Match #2
Demolition (w/ Mr. Fuji) vs. Rick Ataki & Pete Ketchum
Monsoon points out the new WWF Piledriver album which is available (plug #1), after mentioning that he enjoys Demolition's entrance theme. Axe begins and unloads on Ketchum, delivering a bodyslam. Smash tags in and rams Ketchum into the turnbuckle, before delivering some large right hands to the chest of the opponent. He whips Ketchum to the ropes and delivers an elbow, before throwing Ketchum back into his own corner to allow Ataki to make the tag. It's to no avail however, as he runs right into Smash and falls right down. Axe tags back in with a huge clothesline on Ataki, as Smash tags in, goes to the second rope and executes the elbow into the backbreaker for the finish.

Mean Gene Okerlund is backstage and brings in the Junkyard Dog, and Okerlund compliments him for being on the way back up. JYD says he's on the straight road ahead, and points out that above all, the Dog is back on track. JYD's interview skills really leave little to be desired.

Match #3
Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Iron Mike Sharpe
The bell sounds and they lock up, as Jake winds up the right arm, only to be knocked down. Sharpe goes to the ropes, as they lock up again shortly after. This time Jake gets the better of the exchange, pushing Sharpe down, who claims that he has had his hair pulled. They lock up again as Monsoon rambles on about WWF Magazine, as Jake trips up Sharpe, before stretching the legs out in a rather unorthodox submission move. He then drops a leg on Sharpe, the self-proclaimed greatest athlete in Canada. They lock up yet again, as Roberts begins unloading on Sharpe in the corner. Sharpe refuses a clean break though, and begins to take the advantage. He makes the mistake of lowering his head though, which allows Jake to execute the short clothesline. He delivers in the much anticipated DDT, and scores the pinfall victory. After the match Jake grabs his snake Damien out of it's green bag, and sets it loose on Iron Mike.

Mean Gene Okerlund is standing by with the October issue of WWF Magazine, with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan on the corner. It discusses the greatest manager in the WWF, and then introduces Hercules, a member of the Heenan family. Hercules says that his career is only going up, and he took down Ken Patera out on the way. However, Okerlund says that the feud between Hercules and Billy Jack Haynes is by no means over, but Hercules doesn't care. That works out quite well then.

Match #4
Ted DiBiase (w/ Virgil) vs. Lanny Poffo
Poffo reads a typically boring poem before the bell rings, and calls DiBiase a "jerk". For the record this is the very first time that DiBiase has wrestled here on Wrestling Challenge, and after those offensive remarks, wastes no time in going after Poffo. He gets backdropped right away as the fans go nuts, followed with two fantastic dropkicks. DiBiase takes time out on the outside, before regaining his composure and slowly going to work on Poffo. He rams his head into the turnbuckle before delivering some knees. DiBiase whips Poffo into the corner, and then backdrops him as he is coming out. DiBiase stomps on Poffo, before delivering three elbow drops, scoring a two-count. He continues the assault with some clotheslines, as he begins taunting the crowd. DiBiase delivers a powerslam, and then goes for a spinning leg lock, to which Poffo submits.

Craig DeGeorge is standing by in the arena with the Intercontinental Champion, the Honky Tonk Man, alongside his manager, Jimmy Hart. Apparently, when Honky claimed that he is the greatest intercontinental champion of all time, he angered many former champions, such as Randy Savage. Honky doesn't care though, because he is only a former champion, and is managed by a woman (!) He begins to talk about his song on the WWF Piledriver album (plug #2), and that's all she wrote it seems.

Gorilla Monsoon tells us that last week on Superstars was the final week in the battle for Bam Bam Bigelow, and i'm certainly intrigued to see what happens. Slick is on the microphone and announces his latest acquisition, but he doesn't come out. Instead, Oliver Humperdinck comes out, and says that he is here to introduce Bam Bam. He comes out for the first time, and confronts Slick, and states that he is not his manager, and would never be his manager! Nikolai Volkoff, who was already there, confronts Bam Bam, but gets pushed off the stage! Bam Bam introduces his manager, who is indeed Oliver Humperdinck. A match is arranged for later in the evening, which is none other than...

Match #5 (from WWF Superstars)
Bam Bam Bigelow (w/ Oliver Humperdinck) vs. Nikolai Volkoff (w/ Slick)
Bam Bam rushes in like a house on fire, and delivers some hard rights to Bam Bam. Nikolai gets tossed over the top rope, and gets back in and tries a shoulder block, to no avail. Bam Bam then tries a shoulder block of his own, which sends Volkoff flying across the ring. Bam Bam then delivers a headbutt, followed by some roundhouse rights. He headbutts Volkoff down to the canvas several times, before clotheslining the Russian down once again. Nikolai fights back with some kicks to the midsection, followed by some hard lefts and rights. None of it seems to affect Bam Bam though, who sends Volkoff over the top rope thanks to a standing dropkick. Volkoff rolls back in and is on the wrong end of a succession of headbutts, and so takes some time out again. He re-enters, misses a clothesline, gets an elbow to the face and is pinned for the finish. Afterwards he goes for Slick, but he manages to run away and escape Bam Bam's wrath.

The British Bulldogs are standing by with some dog tips, and remind all dog owners to take their pets to the vets every once in a while for vaccination, as well as placing tags around their neck so they won't get lost.

Match #6
The Hart Foundation & Danny Davis vs. Scott Casey, Sivi Afi & Carl Schmidt
Before the bell Davis has to be restrained by The Hart Foundation, as he seemingly wants a piece of the action immediately. Monsoon discusses the WWF Piledriver album (plug #3), as the bell rings. Jim Neidhart starts but gets hiptossed by Casey, who then tags in Sivi Afi. He goes to work on the arm and shoulder, as Schmidt tags in. Neidhart manages to take control, as Davis tags in for the first time, making his debut here on Wrestling Challenge. He stomps away on the face of Schmidt, as Bret Hart tags in. The Hitman executes a backbreaker, as Danny Davis tags back in and drops an elbow. Neidhart then gets back in there and delivers a huge bodyslam. Davis tags in and executes a splash from the top rope, scoring the pinfall somewhat easily.
Winners - The Hart Foundation & Danny Davis via pinfall, at 02:25

Mean Gene Okerlund is standing by with King Kong Bundy, a member of the Heenan family, and Okerlund says that the story between him and Hogan is a dead issue as far as he is concerned. However, Bundy states that he is always wanting to be the number one contender for the heavyweight championship. (note for the uneducated: Bundy actually met Hulk Hogan in a steel cage match at Wrestlemania II the year before, and not surprisingly, did not have his hand raised in victory) He then insults Paul Orndorff by calling him Paul Orn-dwarf, because he is a midget. Bundy says that on the highway of life, he is a truck.

That's all for this week, and overall it was a fairly entertaining show. If there is a show next week, we will see Randy Savage, Killer Khan, Ken Patera, and an 8-man tag team match involving the Heenan Family. The Magnificent Muraco will also be featured.

So that wraps up WWF Classics for the year 2001, and although i have no idea what will be shown next week, WWF Classics will continue to reign supreme throughout 2002. A reminder that the WWF special 3-hour edition of Raw will be broadcast tonight, (or on Friday if you are in the UK) and will take an interesting look back through the year.
