WWF House Show Results from Tulsa, Oklahoma 11-25-01 Submitted by Calvin Martin on Monday, November 26, 2001 at 1:20 PM EST
Thanks to Jeremy Strunk for sending this report in!
I was at the show in Tulsa, Oklahoma last night. I had seats on the first row of raised seats, which was actually pretty close to the ring. Apparently we were the "A" show for the day, because we had almost all of the top people.
First we had Howard Finkel come out and do a little America speech followed by the National Anthem. Then a local radio guy came out and they did some of the usual "let's welcome the WWF superstars, make a little noise" type of thing. Then, after the radio guy left, Bradshaw came out and said some things about how it was great to be in such a great town, blah blah. Then he went on to say that the WWF kicked WCW's ass even when they stole all of their talent 5 or so years ago, even when "they stole some jackass writer of ours too". He explained that there are a bunch of Alliance guys in the back, and even though the Alliance was killed at Survivor Series, they are contractually obligated to be in Tulsa, Oklahoma tonight. Brashaw says "God Bless America" and leaves.
First match was Tajiri vs. Spike Dudley. They started the match exchanging headlocks and other wrestling holds on the mat. Eventually Tajiri got the Tarantula and a kick to the face for the win. After the match Tajiri helped Spike up and they raised each others' arms.
Next match was a Women's match with Jackie being a special guest referee. It was Jazz vs. Lita. Lita of course got the win with the Twist of Fate and a moonsault. Stacy Kiebler came down during the match and tried to distract Lita, only to get chased into and back out of the ring. Just a quick note...Stacy Kiebler is easily the hottest of the WWF/Alliance women...although I haven't seen Trish Stratus in person yet...hopefully tonight...
Next was Perry Saturn and Brock Lensar (sp?) Brock is HUGE. He hit a lot of power moves on Saturn, with Saturn getting the springboard dropkick and a fisherman's suplex. Lesnar ended up winning it with a powerslam I believe.
Next we had William Regal come out. He got the heat by getting on the microphone and talking about how he was glad he's British and not American, especially not from Tulsa. Talked about how dirty and disgusting Tulsa in, and then went on to look out into the crowd and say "you disgust me, each and every one of you". Then his opponent, Kane, came out to a massive pop. Regal acted affraid to get into the ring. It was a decent match, with Kane eventually hitting the Chokeslam for the win.
Howard Finkel then announced that our next matchup was for the WWF HardCore title. Booker T came out first, followed by Rob Van Dam, who got a huge pop. It was sort of a dull match for being a HardCore match, but I guess they can't really fight all over the place without a TitanTron to show the action to the crowd. RVD hit the Vandaminator and the Five Star Frog Splash for the win and retained the HardCore title. RVD got up on the second rope after the match and told us all to do it with him as he did his "R-V-D" pose.
I believe this is when intermission was, and the merchadise plugging. They played several songs off of Creed's new CD during the Intermission, including "My Sacrifice". I'm not 100% on the order of the rest of the matches as my blood was pumping and I was way too excited to have a real clear memory pretty much as soon as Kane came out. Anyway, after intermission...
The first match was Tazz vs. Funaki. Tazz got a pretty decent pop, but also quite a bit of "you suck" directed at him as well. It was a quick match, with Tazz hitting the Tazzmission for the very quick submission victory.
Next was a three-way tag team elimination style match. It was the APA vs. Justin Credible & Lance Storm vs. Scotty 2 Hotty and Albert. Scotty bounced on the ropes on the outside while he was waiting on the tag and fell. Bradshaw and Faarooq mocked him frequently through the next few minutes. Storm and Credible were eliminated first after the Worm. Faarooq then hit the spinebuster for the victory. Bradshaw hit a botched Clothesline from Hell after the match on Justin Credible (it looked like he got him in the face or something). Scotty then convinced Bradshaw to do a Worm. Then, the APA and Scotty and Albert danced.
Test vs. the Undertaker was up next. Undertaker got a huge pop. Test ended up getting the win when Regal distracted the Undertaker allowing the Big Boot to be delivered.
Next was the main event of Austin vs. Kurt Angle for the WWF title. I just want to note here that it was advertised all over TV that it was going to be RVD vs. Austin, but oh well. Angle came out first and ripped on the crowd and talked about how we needed him as the WWF champion. Austin came out to a good pop, but mixed with a few boos. Jim Ross was the guest announcer for this match, by the way. He also got a huge pop. Austin and Angle had a good match, but when the referee got knocked down, Austin hit the Stunner, and Test and Regal ran down to interfere. Austin still ended up with the win of course via the Stunner. He also gave the Stunner to Test and Regal, after hitting them with a chair. After everyone was gone, Jim Ross was about to leave when Austin got on the mic and told him to get his ass down to the ring and drink a beer with him. WHAT? It took some convincing, but JR eventually got into the ring after the crowd gave Austin a "hell yeah" for if they wanted him to or not. JR drank a beer and tried to leave, but Austin called him back again. WHAT? Austin, JR, and Hebner tossed a few back, and that was the end of the show.
Notes:
Austin used his old entrance music from 1998-1999. Also Austin and Angle were both getting a mixture of cheers and boos, although it was clear that Austin was the face, and Angle was the heel in the match.
They were selling RVD foam hands in pairs so that you could do the RVD thumb pose with them...
