    Breaking The Walls Down

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of Breaking The Walls
    Down
. Thanksgiving is almost upon us (for those of you in the U.S.), so
it's almost time to stuff yourselves with food, which is a good thing. But,
rather than getting into how much of a pig I'm going to make myself, let's
get right into it. Onto Bits and Pieces.

    Bits and Pieces

So, Bill Goldberg would consider himself a hypocrite if he joined the WWF,
eh? Well, all I can say is enjoy the money now, Bill, because maybe in a
few years swallowing your pride may have never looked so good.

Hey, did anyone notice that the order of which the wrestlers were eliminated
in the main event in Survivor Series was the same order in which they
    entered?

Nothing really spectacular happened at Survivor Series in my opinion. I
don't know what to even say about it. Some matches were good, surprisingly
Test's match was good, but, hey, that involved Edge, so who can complain?
Maybe, just maybe, Test is getting better. Maybe.

Food for thought: If certain titles are united, why isn't there one title
for that category instead of two?

Keep your prayers going for Hayabusa, he needs them.

    And now, onto the column.

You've Got My Attention, Now Do Something About It

O.K., so here we sit. Flair and Lawler are back. Ric strutted into the
ring on Monday night and it was great to see. Lawler on the headset was
good to hear. And, Austin coming to the ring in old Austin fashion was
great to see. But, the question begs to be asked, "What now?" And if that
can be answered, "For how long?"

If anything has become evident in the WWF, storylines have simply grown so
boring that no one cares. Remember how much of a dream it was for everyone
to see an invasion of the two/three biggest federations in the U.S. and
maybe the world? The biggest star the WWF got from WCW was Booker T.
Which, is fine, but he's not all they needed. It's unfortunate that the
invasion angle went the way it did. It went down hill and went down hill
    real quick.

But, last night Vince tried to make some things right in the world of
professional wrestling. We were reintroduced to Ric Flair, Jerry Lawler,
and a face Austin. What? A face Austin. Yes, that is what I said and that
is what the WWF needs. But, the WWF also needs a face Triple H. It's time
to turn The Rock heel and do it soon. Hopefully Vince does this. It makes
sense to turn him heel. He's had more than his fare share as a face, turn
him heel, he's a good heel, in fact, he's a great heel.

However, how long can Vince keep our attention. It is my hope that this
"partnership" doesn't turn into a Vince McMahon/Linda McMahon situation.
And, what I mean by that is Vince and Linda constantly trying to out do the
other by making matches. The concern here is that the WWF is replacing
Linda McMahon with Ric Flair. Granted, Flair is exceptional on the mic and
gets the crowd going, but my concern is that we've seen this before. Almost
every aspect we've seen with Vince we've seen before. My concern is that
now we'll have a rerun of the Vince vs. Linda feud but with a new character.

Yes, it is premature to assume that Vince will go this route, however I'm
not assuming, just raising the possibility. Another possibility is that
Vince and Flair will have their own factions, which will make more sense.
There have been rumors flying around that Vince and Flair will pick
wrestlers for each other's faction. That presents an interesting
possibility, but one that could get convoluted real quick. Espionage,
back-stabbing, who's on who's side, plots within plots, etc. could develop.
And, to me that is interesting, yet it has to be written properly. That is
no easy task when you consider you have to keep the storylines at an
understandable level for the millions of viewers that currently enjoy the
    WWF's programming.

My concern, which may be yours, is is Vince going to keep our interest? WWF
programming for the past half a year or so has been completely boring. I
have been, for the most part, using the WWF to help me fall asleep at night.
Vince needs to listen to his wrestlers and learn from past mistakes. I'm
hoping that The Nature Boy is only the beginning, because if that is all
Vince can do, in the long run, it won't be enough.

Well, that will do it for this week. I hope you all have a great week and a
safe and happy Thanksgiving. And, as always, join me as I try to "educate
people on the realness of the fakeness of professional wrestling" ©.

    Later,
    Chris Dailey
