    OVW TV TAPING RESULTS
    10/17/01
    Aaron "Lurch" Wilson
    Awlurch@hotmail.com

-Overall a very great show to say the least with appearances from some many big stars, in front of a jampacked standing room only Davis Arena crowd.

-Ron Waterman & Damaja vs. Rico Costatino & Prototype

-Overall a good match with the main thing being the great
improvement of Ron Waterman's in ring charisma. You can really
tell that he's stepped it up a notch, in recent weeks. The
match started with some great one on one wrestling with Rico
squaring off with the Damaja, while Kenny Bolin and Jerome
Croney cheered on the team of Rico and Prototype ringside.
The match ended as Croney came into the ring while the
ref was distracted and raked Waterman to pull off his,
what I call the Gladiator Slam, it's somewhat a rendition of
the Olympic Slam, and pick up the pinfall.

-Winners via pinfall Rico Costatino & Prototype

    -Randy Orton vs. Mark Jindrak
    DARK MATCH

-This was overall a good match for a dark match starting off with
some armbar spots. Orton had a really impressive insegurie kick
to the back of Jhindrak's head, echoing across the city of
Louisville. Throughout the match Jhindrak really seemed to be
working on the leg of Orton, but towards the end, just as
the figure four was about to be applied to Orton, Randy reversed
it into the small package and picked up the pinfall.

    -Winner via pinfall Randy Orton

    -Mr. Black vs. Sean O'Haire
    DARK MATCH

-One of the better Mr. Black matches I have seen in a while, not
that he's a bad wrestler, he just gets paired up with wrestlers
that aren't so good for him to wrestle against. It had a pretty
technical start with O'Haire showing a bit of rustyness, but
overall still in pretty good ring condition. Mr. Black even
pulled off a huge Vader Bomb, with the massive lower body of
Black crushing O'Haire and picked up the win cleanly
    after the Bossman slam.

    -Winner via pinfall Mr. Black

    -David Flair vs. Steve Bradley

-This was a really good match, with few missed spots, as Flair
is really starting to actually become a well respected wrestler.
Now nobody is perfect, and Flair isn't yet, near perfect, but
he has greatly improved thanks to OVW and it's workers as of
late. Before the match Steve Bradley cut a short promo on
Randy Orton, claiming he beat him in the ring last week,
nothing too major here. Flair had an impressive spot, where
he threw Bradley into the post shoulder first and as he
turned around planted a huge DDT on him. Although Flair
fought hand and hand with Bradley, he still lost due to
the Roll of Dice by Bradley as he picked up the three count.

    -Winner via pinfall Steve Bradley

-Next there was an interview segment with Jim Cornette and
D'Lo Brown. Apparently D'Lo Brown made his surprise return
last week and really made the local Davis Arena crowd a bit
upset. D'Lo then had a pretty funny comment, apologizing
for calling the local fans rednecks, and what he meant to
call them was filthy disgusting trailer park trash. Very
Entertaining. He then calls Mark Henry on his cell phone
and carries on a conversation with Henry about how fat and
out of shape he is. Apparently D'lo still thinks that Henry
is the way he is while he was just about to leave WWF TV.
Does anyone remember the vignettes with D'lo acting as the
trainer of the out of shape Henry, well he basically said
what he said then. Overall a very entertaining promo, it's
good to see D'lo back in the states.

-Sean Casey & Chris Michaels vs.Jason Lee & Derrick King w/Sister Sharmell

-Overall one of the best matches of the night with some very
impressive technical and tag team wrestling. In my opinion
the best tag teams in the country squaring off in one great
match. Derrick King took some major tossing around in the
beginning, practically shrieking at the top of his lungs.
King also pulled off a very impressive bottom rope spring
board dropkick to the outside of the ring. Very impressive
match over all. The match ended as Casey was held next
to ringside and Sister Sharmell came up and slapped him
in the face, knocking him down and allowing Jason Lee to
pull off the school boy, and the win.

-Winners via pinfall Jason Lee & Derrick King

-Next Dean Hill interviews the Revolution just before the main
event. Mainly Machine talked to Johnny Spade about the old
days when it was just him, Spade, Dinsmore, Conway and Damaja
and about how the other guys besides the two of them were
all washed up. After that Victoria got on the mic and said,
"No one out smarts Machine". Just then Flash came running in
with a garbage can lid and layed out every member of the Revolution
in the ring and got on the mic and told the crowd that
Bull Buchanon beat him up just off the Interstate and Jim
Cornette sent him. He had a great black eye and had his shirt
all ripped up. Cornette denied what Flash said to be true.

-Brock Lesnar, Shelton Benjamin & Val Venis
    vs.
Payne, Damien & Leviathan w/ Synn and Swail
    TV MAIN EVENT

-This was overall a very good match, as is the typical Tv
main event on Ohio Valley Wrestling. Venis was sporting his
old tights with the purple V running down that front and back
and still has his hair like he did in the RTC. He as well as
the Minnesota stretching crew were very over with the crowd,
as well as the Deciples of Synn. The team of Benjamin, Lesnar
and Venis are in my opinion in great ring condition considering
they have been out of action for quite some time. The match
ended as Lesnar pulled off a huge powerslam and Venis pulled off
the money shot to the Demon of the Deep Leviathan and pinned
    him.

-Winners via pinfall Lensnar, Benjamin & Venis

    UPCOMING EVENT:

IWF 'Evil Intentions' Sunday, October 28 at JCC in Edison, NJ
Gillberg, Kevin Knight, Biggie Biggs to Highlight Live Event

(Edison, NJ) - Live IWF action returns in just a few short days to the JCC of Middlesex County, 1775 Oak Tree Road, Edison, New Jersey, on Sunday, October 28, 2001, 5:30 p.m. The family-oriented extravaganza, 'Evil Intentions,' is a fundraiser to benefit JCC Youth Programs. The official card has been announced.

Former WWF Light-heavyweight Champion Gillberg tops the card in the Main Event. This popular ring veteran is known for polishing off opponents with his patented spear and jackhammer finishing maneuvers. Gillberg's opposition will be current IWF Tag Team Champion and former IWF American Champion 'Debonair' Damian Adams. The cocky Adams, along with his manager Mr. Mike Winner (leader of The Winner's Circle), is looking to spoil the Edison debut of Gillberg.

Woodbridge's Rob Eckos returns to his stomping grounds to challenge Roman for the IWF Heavyweight Title. Eckos, coming off an impressive victory in a Triple Threat Match at 'Rampage' looks to unseat the brash kingpin, who himself is fresh off a successful title defense in West Orange. Can the 18-year-old high-flying heartthrob capture his first championship in front of the hometown fans?

Two-time IWF American Champion Josh Daniels defends against the egocentric Hadrian, who is a former American Champion and current Tag Team Champion. The explosive Daniels regained the title from Winner's Circle member Damian Adams at 'Rampage' in a thrilling Ladder Match. Now, Winner sends Hadrian on a mission to reclaim the title for the rouge stable.

Former two-time IWF Heavyweight and American Champion Kevin Knight tangles with the maniacal Kasey Coresh. With The Winner's Circle refusing to grant Knight a rematch for Roman's title, even after it took every member to assist Roman in his last win over Knight, Kevin is out to prove he is indeed championship material.

There will be a wild 15-man Royal Rumble featuring all the stars of the IWF. This unpredictable affair is sure to have the crowd on the edge of their seats. A title match is sure to be offered to the winner of this bout.

Fun-loving former IWF American Champion Biggie Biggs faces Rapid Fire Maldonado (with Allison Danger) and 'Ramblin' Rich Meyer in a Triple Threat Elimination Match. Also set to appear are IWF Commissioner AJ Sparxx, Ryan Lockhart, Alicia, PW Stryker, BPA Barry and more.

'Evil Intentions' proceeds benefit JCC Youth Programs. Tickets are $13 and will be on sale at the door. Advance tickets are available at the JCC during business hours, or on-line via the IWF web site at www.wrestlingiwf.com. For further information, call the JCC at 732-494-3232 or the IWF at 973-345-7745.

    Syn K sent this in...

This isn't exactly news-worthy, but may be of some interest to some folks out there... Taylor (the girl who should have won the Tough Enough contest) was in attendance at a PWF show on Friday night (PWF is a indy show in Washington state, in conjunction with ICW in Canada). She wasn't there to wrestle, she wasn't even mentioned by the promoters... (oddly enough?) just there as a spectator.

Hi there. I just attended the 10/22 International Superstars of Wrestling show in Fairbanks, AK. I know you post indy results, so I figured I'd submit it to you. Here it is:

I just attended the 10/22 International Superstars of Wrestling show here in Fairbanks, Alaska. There were between 1,000 to 1,500 people in attendance at the Carlson Center for the show. Here's a recap of what happened:

Before the opener, the ring announcer did the usual run down of the rules, ie. no throwing stuff, etc. He then mentioned that Road Warrior Hawk was injured in Chicago on Saturday (10/20), and wouldn't be able to perform tonight.

The opener was the Disco Machine and a masked partner (don't remember his name) vs. Super Dragon and Rising Sun. Good pops for Sun and Dragon. The finish saw Super Dragon get the pinfall on Disco Machine. Overall, good luchadore style match.

The second match of the night was a midget match. A midget dressed as Spike Dudley faced a midget dressed as Jerry the King Lawler with Dawn Marie as the special guest referee. Lots of comedy, with the midgets lifting Dawn Marie's skirt and pinching her butt. The crowd ate it up. Don't remember who won, but didn't really matter because of Dawn Marie.

Next, Grandmaster Sexay came down to the ring and cut a promo, talking about how great it was to be in Fairbanks, and he felt like dancing, etc. While he was cutting the promo, a fan jumped the barrier and got in the ring. He screamed, "Whoooooo!" and raised his hands over his head, looking to high five Sexay. Sexay acted like he was playing along for a second, then just nailed the guy in the side of the head with a very stiff right hand, causing the guy to collapse like a sack of potatoes. Don't think it was a work, as the punch looked legit, and the guy really looked hurt. Security dragged him
out of the ring to a big pop from the fans.

Sinister Minister then came down and Sexay said he didn't know who he was. Minister said that if Sexay would join him, then he would turn him into a star. Sexay got angry and chased after Minister. Security came in to break it up. The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels, dressed as a security guard, attacked Sexay and laid him out. He cut a quick promo trashing Fairbanks and Sexay, then left. Sexay got up and challenged Daniels to a match later on.

Third match was Rick Fuller vs. C.W. Anderson, vs. Balls Mahoney in a three way elimination hardcore match. Fuller and Anderson came down first, and talked a little trash. Anderson explained the rules of the match, which he said was pioneered by ECW, which got a nice little pop.

Balls Mahoney then came down, and they started the match. Mahoney was tossed into a chair on the outside, where he was busted open (he juiced). Fuller was eliminated by Anderson with a trashcan shot in the ring. Mahoney and Anderson fought on the outside for a while, and eventually into the crowd. They ended up back in the ring, where Anderson set up a table in the corner (nice table chant going from the crowd), where he spinebustered Mahoney through. Mahoney kicked out of the pin attempt, and beat Anderson with the Greetings from Ashbury Park (Bam Bam Bigelow's finisher).

Fourth match of the evening was for the Alaska Super Slam tag team titles. The champions the Backseat Boys (a total Backstreet Boys/Hardy Boyz/3 Count rip off) faced Evolution (consisting of Nova and a partner whose name I can't recall). Backseat Boys got awesome heat. They cut a pretty typical heal promo, bashing on the city, making fun of the people and calling them "trash" and "rednecks." A good "Backdoor Boys" chant got started up. Also, the Backseat Boys had a manager with them wearing a pink shirt and a white suit. The crowd started up a "Britney Spears" chant, which appeared to anger
the manager. Funny stuff. The finish of the match saw Evolution get the win with a double team DDT maneuver (sort of resembled a 3D, but with a DDT instead of a Diamond Cutter), to become the Alaska Super Slam tag team champions.

The show then went to intermission. All the wrestlers were signing
autographs and taking pictures. Balls Mahoney still had blood running down his face, and people flocked to him for a Polaroid.

On a bit of a side note, a friend of mine thought Dawn Marie was really hot, went up to her and gave her a folded piece of paper with his phone number on it. She looked at him and kind of laughed shyly, saying thank you. Simon Diamond was with her, and he took one look at my friend and started bursting out laughing. All in all, they were good sports about it.

The show started up again with a ladies match. A Chinese woman, whose name I don't remember faced Becky the farmer's daughter. The Chinese woman got the pinfall.

Next, Simon Diamond came out and cut a promo ripping on Fairbanks and it's citizens. He said that there was no one in the back good enough to face him. Out came Roadkill, the Angry Amish Warrior, to a huge pop. They jawed a little bit in the ring, then started the match. Roadkill mounted Diamond in the corner, and was giving him the old 10-punch treatment, when Diamond dumped him over the top through the timekeeper's table. This got one of the loudest pops of the night. Roadkill got back in the ring. The referee got knocked out, and Dawn Marie came down still wearing her ref outfit from the midget match. Roadkill went for a pin, but Dawn Marie wouldn't count. Simon
Diamond fought back, and got the win with a rollup and a quick count from Dawn Marie. As they were leaving, Roadkill knocked Diamond out of the ring, and grabbed Dawn Marie, tossing her in the corner. He dropped his pants, and rubbed his butt (he was wearing briefs) in Dawn Marie's face. This got the biggest pop of the night.

The next to last match was Grandmaster Sexay vs. Chris Daniels w/ Sinister Minister. Good back and forth match which lasted about ten minutes. At one point Daniels missed a moonsault. Sexay capitalized by hitting him with a kick to the face. He then went up top w/ the goggles and did the guillotine leg drop for the win. Daniels and Minister left as Sexay celebrated.

He cut another promo stating, "I'm pretty tired, but I still feel like dancing." He went on to say, "Now, Rikishi and Scotty can't be here tonight (HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! No sh*t they couldn't!!!) so I'm going to find somebody to dance with me." He took two guys and two women from the crowd, and then explained the dance. They tried, but after like 10 seconds, it broke down into random dancing. One guy did the worm to a big pop, while Sexay freaked in the ring with another girl, who left up the entryway with him when the dance was finished.

Main event was Julio Dinero and Chris Marrick vs. Road Warrior Animal and a mystery partner. Dinero got on the mic, and started talking trash, saying Animal couldn't beat them both, so he should forfeit the match. Animal said he had a partner, one of the greatest wrestlers ever, Hacksaw Jim Duggan! Crowd went nuts for this, and instantly started a "USA" chant, and did the "Hooooooooo!" thumbs up every time that Duggan did. Decent match. About halfway through, the top rope broke. All the wrestlers kind of laughed about it, but kept wrestling. Duggan tried to go off the ropes at one point, but
really couldn't, and it looked really stupid. Animal was laughing pretty much the whole time on the apron. When he got in, he took the top rope and twirled it over his head, smiling and laughing. The finish saw Animal and Duggan get the win via Animal's powerbomb on Marrick.

All in all, my brother, my friend, and I were all pleased with the show. However, we were angry we didn't get to see the Old Glory knee drop from Duggan, but of course, the main event kind of went south after the top rope broke. Great curtain puller, good mid card matches and comedy skits, and a pretty good main event. The crowd, although very small, was really into the show, and there were tons of "USA" and "L.O.D." (for Animal) chants. Independent wrestling is pretty much non-existent here in Alaska, so it was cool to see a promotion put on a show in my hometown. ISW was well worth the money.

IWF's Roman Chosen as Semi-Finalist for MTV's 'WWF Tough Enough 2'

(West Paterson, NJ) - After responding to a request from an MTV Casting Associate in which the network appealed to the Independent Wrestling Federation to submit audition tapes for "WWF Tough Enough 2" from CAMP IWF students, we are pleased to announce we have a winner.

Two-time IWF Heavyweight Champion Roman was chosen as a semi-finalist by the selection committee from thousands of entries. For the upcoming season of the hit MTV reality-based program, the selection committee was seeking highly qualified, trained independent wrestlers, which led them to contact the IWF in search of top-notch athletes.

Roman, who began training at the CAMP IWF Pro Wrestling Training Centre in West Paterson, New Jersey, in December 1999, has quickly emerged as one of the top pro wrestling prospects in the country. This 21-year-old former all-county high school football star and martial arts expert from Manville, New Jersey, is equipped with all the tools to succeed in the sports-entertainment field.

"MTV wanted the selection process for the second season to consist of entries from skilled professional athletes, not couch-potato wannabe-wrestlers, which is why they looked to the Independent Wrestling Federation," said Kevin Knight, head trainer at CAMP IWF. "Our training and conditioning process is second-to-none, and it comes as no surprise that someone from CAMP IWF won a semi-finalist berth."

Semi-finalists have the opportunity to compete for a spot on "WWF Tough Enough 2" during auditions that take place November 8-11 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Filming for the show takes place in late-2001 for airing in the Spring of 2002.

In it's two year history, CAMP IWF, under the direction of Kevin Knight, AJ Sparxx and Biggie Biggs, has trained 68 student-athletes who have competed in 1,100 matches for 15 different organizations throughout the Northeast. A success-rate unparalleled on the independent scene. The IWF also produces 25 live events annually, giving its students a build-in opportunity to gain valuable experience in front of live audiences.

Roman's next IWF Title defense is set for this Sunday, October 28, 2001, 5:30 p.m. at the JCC, 1775 Oak Tree Road, Edison, NJ, as part of the "Evil Intentions" live event. For further information regarding Roman and the Independent Wrestling Federation, please visit www.WrestlingIWF.com

    OVW TV TAPING
    10/24/01
    Aaron "Lurch" Wilson
    AWLurch@hotmail.com

-Overall a very good show from Ohio Valley Wrestling taped
as it is every week in Jeffersonville, Indiana just across
the river from Louisville, Kentucky in a packed standing
room only crowd in Davis Arena. I will also note that
The Godfather and Big Bossman were spotted in the Crow's
Nest of Davis Arena watching the show with Godfather
even taking the time to sign a few autographs for fans
    before the show.

-Ron Waterman vs. Mr. Black w/ Jerome Croney

-This was overall a very good match with Waterman continuing
his great improvement in charisma. Waterman took the upper
hand throughout the match with the crowd all over Mr. Black.
Waterman even pulled off an impressive "Raven-like" Clothesline
to corner bulldog. The match ended as Croney attempted to
interfere on the ring apron distracting Waterman as Black
tried to hit Waterman from behind. Waterman then moved out
of the way and took out Mr. Black applying the Ankle lock
    submission making Black "Tap-Out"

    -Winner via submission Ron Waterman

-Next there was an interview segment in the ring with Jim
Cornette and Flash. Flash is apparently still upset from
an attack last week off the side of the road by Bull Buchanon
and Flash is insistent that Cornette was responsible.
Cornette then goes on to offer Flash the truth and goes on
to tell Flash that the truth is that Flash is really selfish
and just out to look for himself. He claims that Flash just
wants the belt, and is determined to be the one to beat Bull.
Flash then in turn, denies Cornettes allegation and says that
he doesn't care and would rather just beat up Bull Buchanon.
Throughout this interview the crowd, which seems to have a
different opinion on Flash every week, was yelling "WAAAA!"
pretending to cry like a baby. Overall a very entertaining
    segment.

    -Bull Buchanon vs. David Flair

-Before this match Bull gets on the microphone and tells Flair
while somewhat playing the role of the "cocky heel" that he
has no pride in what he's about to do to Flair, that it's
just strictly business. Aside from Bull's opening speech,
Flair on the other hand prooved that he was going to put
up a fight and had a very impressive match. Bull hit all
of his signature moves with Flair pulling out some new stuff.
Flair pulled off a very impressive jump over Bull from the
turnbuckle and turning him around into a Drop Toe Hold.
Although Flair did seem to put up a fight throughout the
match, Bull did take the upperhand throughout the match and
gained the pinfall after a Top Rope Leg drop.

    -Winner via pinfall Bull Buchanon

-Jim Cornette then came down the ring once again for an interview
segment, this time with D'Lo Brown, who hasn't exactly claimed his
former fan favorite status with the Davis Arena crowd. D'lo
get's on the mic and states that although Mark Henry hasn't been
here in the recent weeks that he does have Henry here tonight and
introduces him. Out comes an average sized Bald Black man wearing
Mark Henry's old Olympic Warmup Jacket and carrying a bucket of
KFC with him to the ring. D'lo continues to go on ranting about
Mark Henry and how he is out of shape not even paying attention to
the imposter when the Real Mark Henry makes his OVW return throwing
the imposter out of the ring and taking his place. D'lo then turns
around and recieves a vicious standing clothesline as people attempt
to break up the situation. Eventually D'lo manages to get back the
upper hand by throwing the drink into the face of Henry and takes
him down and delivers two giant Frog Splashes from seperate corners,
as the ref break up the mayhem.

-Val Venis vs. Leviathan w/ Synn and Swail

-This was in my own opinion the best match of the night with Val coming out to his old "Helllooo Ladies" music. Throughout the beginning it really seemed as if Venis was technically toying with the Demon of the Deep Leviathan, really working on his knee. Eventually Leviathan starts working back on Venis' knee doing things that I don't think anyone in Davis Arena has seen, on a technical standpoint. As Val attempted to fight back the crowd as they chanted "Go Demon Go" really got into this match emotionally. The Demon then went for a huge power bomb and pulled it off on the WWF Superstar only to get a two count. He then went for a second with Val putting up a little resistant but still could not manage to pull off the three, putting the Davis Arena crowd at the edge of their seats. Eventually after a lot of struggle the Demon was able to pull off the third power bomb and the pinfall, in what I believe to be Leviathan's best match.

    -Winner via pinfall Leviathan

-An interview segment with Dean Hill joined by Kenny "the King" Bolin,
Rico Costatino and The Prototype took place next, with the three
talking about their match at Monday Night Raw this week. It will
be a Dark match before Raw against the Minnesota Stretching Crew,
Brock Lesnar and Shelton Benjamin, for the Southern Tag Team Titles.
Bolin Services was very proud of this title defense claiming that
this will be a huge match that will showcase their talent to the
thousands that will be packed in Freedom Hall this Monday Night.
It should be one excellent match which I will be writing a report
monday night for this site on all of the OVW happenings of the night.

-Steve Bradley vs. Machine w/ Victoria
    OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
    TV MAIN EVENT

-This TV Main Event was also a very great match, getting off to a
very good technical start. Machine really seemed to use Victoria to
his advantage, throwing this street thug out of the ring to Victoria
allowing her to get the cheap shots on Bradley. Bradley also had a
very innovative move as he appeared to go for a move, but then did
a complete 180 degree turn with his body racking Machine across his
leg, as well as Machine doing his Three consecutive Russian Leg Drops.
As it appeared that Bradley may actually pull off the win and the
OVW Heavyweight title, Machine loaded his mask with some foreign
object and headbutted Bradley followed by going to the top rope for
a huge diving headbutt and picking up the pinfall. After the match
Flash then ran down to the ring and un-masks Machine taking out
the foreign object and hitting Machine himself in the head with it.
Next Bull Buchanon makes his way to the ring and brawls with Flash
being pulled apart by the referees, who obviously were not enough,
as it took Waterman, Randy Orton, Damaja and Jim Cornette to stop
this havok in the ring as the Television Cameras went off the air.

    -Winner via pinfall Machine
