WWA The Inception PPV – Friday, October 26, 2001
    Live from: Sydney Superdome, Australia
Announcers: Jeremy Borash and Jerry “The King” Lawler

Jeremy Borash opened the show welcoming everyone to WWA The Inception. The Australian national anthem was then sung.

WWA titles were shown and the opening pyro exploded.

In an interesting feature, the commentary all throughout the night could be heard by the whole arena, not just the TV audience.

Bret Hart, the WWA Commissioner came out to the ring. He said it only took him 23 years to get to Australia. He said it was almost 1 year to the day that he got dumped by WCW. He said it was a tough time for him to get stuck in Australia during the WTC bombing back in September when he was doing promotional work, and he thanked everyone for their treatment of him. He said when he was in the WWF (loud boos), he was the world champion, and that there isn’t one single wrestler that has never beaten him. He said nobody beat him for the WCW Title either. He called Vince McMahon a piece of shit, and he said no one including Rock, Benoit, Austin, Goldberg, etc has anyone over him, as they never beat him. He said tonight he will pass the torch, and that the WWA will be the best there is, best there was and the best there ever will be.

Borash plugged the 7 Deadly Sins tournament for the WWA Heavyweight title.

WWA Cruiserweight Title Ladder Match & Round 1 WWA Heavyweight Title Match
    Juventud Guerrera vs. Psiscosis

Juvi did The Rock’s spiel “Finally, The Juice has come back to Australia!” Psiscosis now hard short hair, he looks pretty different. Psiscosis started out with a dropkick to Juvi’s knee. Psiscosis with a drop toe hold into the second turnbuckle. Juvi came back with a spinning heel kick. Juvi with a tornado DDT and both men went to the outside. Juvi then pushed the ladder onto Psiscosis. Juvi then rammed the ladder into Psiscosis’ head. Juvi then used the ladder as a catapult to hit Psiscosis. Psiscosis then flapjacked Juvi onto the ladder. While Juvi was propped over the top rope, Psiscosis hit him with a legdrop. Psiscosis started to climb the ladder, but Juvi hit a springboard dropkick causing Psiscosis to fall off. Juvi then brought in another ladder, but Psiscosis dropkicked it into Juvi’s face. Juvi then hit Psiscosis with a dropkick from the ladder, and the ladder also fell down and hit the referee. The two then fought on top of the ladder, and Juvi hit a top rope powerbomb/sunset flip off the ladder. Juvi then hit the 450 splash, and climbed up the ladder to retrieve the WWA Cruiserweight Title.
Winner and New WWA Cruiserweight Champion: Juventud Guerrera

The Starettes then danced on the stage. King was in his element here with lots of puppies.

Backstage, a limo pulled up. Rove McManus (a local TV star) and Nathan Jones got out. They ran into Lodi and Lenny who said they have no fashion sense. Also, Disco told a producer to get security as he was supposedly being mobbed by fans.

Dog Collar Match & Round 1 WWA Heavyweight Tournament Match
    Konnan vs. The Road Dogg

Before the match, both wrestlers did their usual spiel on the mic. As Road Dogg was doing his Let’s Get Ready To Rumble speech, Konnan interrupted him and did his interpretation of it “Well Road Dogg, every other member of DX is still employed by the WWF, so I guess the WWF had 2 words for ya, Suck It!” Konnan then began to choke Road Dogg with the dog collar, and he then hit a rolling thunder clothesline. Each man then tried to touch the corners in succession, but each wrestler broke up the various attempts. Konnan then hit Road Dogg with a cane or crowbar or something. Konnan then hit a dropkick and his trademark face buster. Konnan then dropped the cane and Road Dogg nailed him with it. He then tied up Konnan with the chain, and he touched the 4 corners to win the match and to advance into the tournament.
    Winner: Road Dogg

Backstage, the 4 participants in the Skin To Win Match was shown, except when the 4th participant was shown, they showed the butt and the commentators were drooling, but then they flashed to the front and focused in on a bulge, showing that it was actually a guy. It was pretty funny.

    Hardcore Match
Devon Storm vs. Screamin’ Norman Smiley

Norman came out wearing the local Sydney Kings basketball team’s gear, to get a big pop. Storm hit a crossbody for a 2 count. King had a classic line when he said “Storm listens to the voices in his head, but I listen to the voices in my pants”. Norman then hit Storm with a trash can a few times. Storm then hit a crossbody and moonsault. Norman then started to do the wiggle, but got knocked out with a kendo stick. Storm went to do a running dive, but Norman hit him with a chair. Norman then pulled out a table. Norman then did a big wiggle and went to suplex Crowbar over the top rope through the table, but Crowbar reversed it. Storm lay Norman on a table, and he hit a slingshot splash through a table on him. Norman then put a trash can on Storm’s head and hit it a few times with a chair. Storm was busted open. The two then battled up on the stage, and Norman whacked Storm with a kendo stick. The pair then went into the backstage area. Norman then got pushed into a trash can and he got catapulted into Disco who got upset that he had no security to protect him. Storm then gave Norman an inverted powerbomb into a guardrail. Borash described the stage as 8 feet tall, but it came up to Norman’s waist – another best kept secret of wrestling. Storm then set up 2 tables on top of each other on the stage. Norman then hit his trademark swing around slam onto a trash can. Storm then put Norman on top of the 2 tables. Storm climbed up on top of the videotron, and hit Norman with a splash. It was about a legit 10 feet high. Norman, even though he was the one who took the splash, got the pin!
    Winner: Screamin’ Norman Smiley

Backstage, Disco ran into the producer who produced him with his version of 2 suits, Banana’s in Pyjamas.

Jeremy Borash announced that Juvi has broken ribs and won’t be able to compete any further tonight.

Backstage, Bret Hart was with Stevie Ray. He said that the Battle Royal would be open to ANYONE including the ring crew and program sellers.

WWA Battle Royal & Round 1 WWA Heavyweight Tournament Match
Buff, Disco and Stevie started out. Norman and Storm then entered. King then said he would be in the Battle Royal, and he dragged in Borash with him. Borash then got thrown out after some terrible comedy spots, and Storm got on the mic to announce. Eh eh. Way too much action to call here. Ladies, refs and camera guys got in the ring too. King then started to hit on the woman. The refs then got thrown out. Crowbar: “We need help from the back! Eh eh!” Disco then got beat up on by everyone. The Banana’s in Pyjamas then came to ringside. Stevie then got thrown out. King then did the big wiggle on Norman. King and Norman then got both eliminated. Buff gave Disco the double arm DDT. Disco came back with a neckbreaker. He then hit the Village People’s elbow and did the YMCA signs before the elbow. The Banana's then came in and threw out Disco, and Buff threw them out to win the match and to advance into the tournament.
    Winner: Buff Bagwell

Guitar on a Pole Match & Round 1 WWA Heavyweight Title Tournament Match
Jeff Jarrett vs. Nathan Jones w/Rove McManus

Before the match, Jarrett said he has all the stroke and that he would be the first WWA champion. He said he would kill both Jones and Rove. Before I start, I want to say that Jones is freaking huge! I think he’s 6’11, but he looks even bigger than that. Rove then got on the mic and kept referring to Jarrett as Jeffrey. Rove then said that Jones would slap his nuts all over the ring. Jones then started out with a tilt-a-whirl slam. Jones then delivered a big side slam. Jones then clotheslined Jarrett out of the ring. Jones then press slammed Jarrett back into the ring. Jones then hit a top rope clothesline. He signalled to get a guitar, but Jarrett gave him a low blow. Jarrett then got the guitar and went to hit Jones with it, but Rove came in the ring and Borash said “Rove is in the ring” but Jarrett had to pretend he didn’t hear that, and Rove turned him around but Jarrett hit him with the guitar. Jarrett then gave Jones the Stroke for the pin. After the match, Jones carried Rove to the back.
    Winner: Jeff Jarrett

So for the semi-finals it’s going to be Jarrett vs. Bagwell and Road Dogg vs ??? due to Juvi’s injury.

The Starettes then danced again on the stage.

The King got in the ring for the King’s Court. The King then told the ‘fruits’ aka the Bananas to come out. He wanted to know why the security turned on Disco. Lenny and Lodi then came out. Lodi carries signs like “We hate Australia!” and “Being down under sucks!” King then called them fruits. The crowd then chanted “You are a wanker!” HA! He said behind Chopper Reed (a known Australian criminal), they are the 2 toughest men in Australia. Bret Hart came out and said that Road Dogg would be in a 3 way dance with Lenny and Lodi and the winner would advance into the finals of the WWA Tournament.

3-Way Dance & Round 2 WWA Heavyweight Title Tournament Match
Road Dogg vs. Lenny and Lodi

Lenny and Lodi then tried to double team Road Dogg, but he came back with his series of punches. Lenny and Lodi then hit a modified 3D, and they kept breaking up their pin attempts. Lenny then covered Roag Dogg in a “sexual” way. Lenny then got on the top rope and Lodi smashed Roag Dogg’s face into the crotch…I mean turnbuckle. Lenny then went for a top rope dropkick, but Road Dogg moved out of the way and Lenny hit Lodi. Lenny and Lodi then hit a double hiptoss. And each of them then argued about who would get the pin. Lenny then hit a moonsault, and Roag Dogg hit his trademark knee drop on both of them to get the double pin and to advance to the final. After the match, Lenny and Lodi reconciled over a hug.
    Winner: The Road Dogg

Backstage, Bagwell said he had a new stipulation for the semi-final match, “Tit’s, whips and buff”. Ahhh great, another classic old-school stip!

Tits, Whips and Buff Match & WWA Round 2 WWA Heavyweight Title Tournament Match
    Jeff Jarrett vs. Buff Bagwell

Some girls then came to ringside with whips. The stip is if one of the wrestlers get outside the ring, they will get whipped. Simple enough. Buff started out with a hiptoss. Buff then hit a dropkick, which knocked Jarrett to the outside who got whipped. Lucky bastard. King” I’d jump out of the ring on purpose!” Buff got knocked out of the ring, but instead of getting whipped, they all consoled him and started massaging him. Jarrett then got one of the whips and started to whip Buff. Jarrett then applied a reverse chinlock. Buff then made the hot comeback and flapjacked Jarrett on the mat. Buff then hit a reverse elbow, and then clotheslined Jarrett over the top rope as he and the girls started to whip Jarrett. The referee got whipped as well. Buff then hit the Blockbuster, but there was no ref, so a girl counted the pin but it didn’t count. Jarrett then recovered and hit the Stroke for the win.
    Winner: Jeff Jarrett

So the final of the tournament will be Jeff Jarrett vs. Road Dogg.

Backstage, Luna talked some crap out Gangrel, who is now the Vampire Warrior. She scares me.

    Black Wedding Match
The Vampire Warrior (Gangrel) vs. Luna Vachon

Gangrel spit out the goblet of blood before the match. Gangrel tried to persuade Luna not to have the match. Luna started out with slaps, but Gangrel came back with a throw. They then got some hardcore weapons, and she got some tongs and well, guess where she grabbed. They did some back and forth stuff which was just too stupid to describe. Luna then threw her wedding ring back, and she spat in his face. Gangrel then hit the implant DDT for the pin. Boy, what a happy story that was.
Winner: The Vampire Warrior aka Gangrel

    Skin To Win Match
Queen Bee vs. Violet Terossi vs. Adera James vs. Sharon Awad (Danny Dominion)

The rules are is that the winner is the last one to have their clothes on. Sharon has a dress on and is the guy with facial hair. The girls all beat him up, and put him in the corner and kicked him in the family jewels. Danny Dominion is apparently the guy, and he dropped them with stunners and powerbombs. He supposedly pulled their tops off, but nothing came off, he only pulled down the straps. “Bull****” chants started. Adera James then beat him up including a headscissors. Stevie Ray then came down and beat him up. She hit a mistimed hurricanrana and I think she got the win, but I’m not too sure because I fell asleep.
    Winner: Adera James

Promoter Andrew McManus came to ringside and told Borash to read a letter. It was from Midajah, and she said that “She would be in England with her man, enough said”. Take that for what you wish.

The Starettes came out onto the stage to dance again, but Disco told them to get off as this was a wrestling show. Well tell that to the crowd after tonight’s effort. He got into the cage and said that he deserved to be in the ring. “You are a wanker” chants started up again. The Bananas came out again. Brilliant. The fruits then beat him up. One of them did a Hogan pose. Disco then went to the top of the cage and pushed off a fruit onto a rubber mat down below. King: “The fruit needs medical attention, do we need a doctor or a chef? Someone better remove it or they’ll slip on a banana peel.”

Cage Match & WWA Heavyweight Title Tournament Final Match
The Road Dogg vs. Jeff Jarrett

Bret Hart came out and was the guest announcer. Road Dogg started out with punches. Road Dogg then hit his trademark knee drop for a 2 count. Jarrett then came back and through Road Dogg into the cage, several times. Road Dogg then recovered and threw Jarrett into the cage as well. They then climbed up to the top of the cage and traded punches, and they both climbed down to the floor. Apparently the match can only end by pinfall or submission. Way to go making the stipulations clear before the match. Road Dogg then blasted Jarrett with the ring bell and busted him really wide open. Jarrett was pouring blood everywhere, although now I think it about it, it was a capsule. The pair then traded sleeper holds, and then the ref got bumped. Jarrett then got his guitar and knocked out Road Dogg with it. Jarrett then applied the Sharpshooter and Road Dogg tapped. Hart then stopped the ringgirl from ringing the bell because Jarrett was taunting him. Road Dogg then also applied the Sharpshooter, but Hart did the same thing. Hart then went to leave with the belt, but Road Dogg regained it and went into the ring, and Jarrett hit Road Dogg with the Stroke on the belt for the win. After the match, Hart applied Jarrett in the Sharpshooter.
Winner and new WWA Heavyweight Champion: Jeff Jarrett

Notes: Coming in, I was looking forward to it as a variety from the WWF, especially with all the starpower they had. Now I am really disappointed that I wasted my money. The wrestling was non-existant apart from one or two good matches, but that was mainly due to the crappy booking. The corny storylines involving the Bananas in Pyjamas were just horrible, and there was no point to that Skin to Win match or the Black Wedding Match. The Battle Royal comedy was ok, but the rest was horrible. Any time you have inter-gender stuff it’s just a wase of time. Best match would actually have to go to the Hardcore Match between Norman Smiley vs. Devon Storm, it was entertaining and the fans were really into it. Borash sucks as an announcer, but King was pretty funny. Hart came across as being really bitter in the opening promo bashing guys like Austin and even Benoit, it was sad to see. I’d say for what tickets they actually sold (about 1/10th of the arena would have been taken up due to layout) it was mostly full, probably around 7-8,000. For the most part the crowd wasn’t that into the night apart from the commentary and a few matches. Everyone felt ripped off by the Skin to Win contest as nothing happened! Everyone I talked to was disappointed at the show. Early reports indicate they will be back in April of next year.

Just as an aside note, I'm currently in the middle of exams but I will return to full-time posting again in a few weeks time.
