OVW TV TAPING RESULTS 10/17/01 Aaron "Lurch" Wilson Awlurch@hotmail.com
-Overall a very great show to say the least with appearances from some many big stars, in front of a jampacked standing room only Davis Arena crowd.
-Ron Waterman & Damaja vs. Rico Costatino & Prototype
-Overall a good match with the main thing being the great improvement of Ron Waterman's in ring charisma. You can really tell that he's stepped it up a notch, in recent weeks. The match started with some great one on one wrestling with Rico squaring off with the Damaja, while Kenny Bolin and Jerome Croney cheered on the team of Rico and Prototype ringside. The match ended as Croney came into the ring while the ref was distracted and raked Waterman to pull off his, what I call the Gladiator Slam, it's somewhat a rendition of the Olympic Slam, and pick up the pinfall.
-Winners via pinfall Rico Costatino & Prototype
-Randy Orton vs. Mark Jhindrak DARK MATCH
-This was overall a good match for a dark match starting off with some armbar spots. Orton had a really impressive insegurie kick to the back of Jhindrak's head, echoing across the city of Louisville. Throughout the match Jhindrak really seemed to be working on the leg of Orton, but towards the end, just as the figure four was about to be applied to Orton, Randy reversed it into the small package and picked up the pinfall.
-Winner via pinfall Randy Orton
-Mr. Black vs. Sean O'Haire DARK MATCH
-One of the better Mr. Black matches I have seen in a while, not that he's a bad wrestler, he just gets paired up with wrestlers that aren't so good for him to wrestle against. It had a pretty technical start with O'Haire showing a bit of rustyness, but overall still in pretty good ring condition. Mr. Black even pulled off a huge Vader Bomb, with the massive lower body of Black crushing O'Haire and picked up the win cleanly after the Bossman slam.
-Winner via pinfall Mr. Black
-David Flair vs. Steve Bradley
-This was a really good match, with few missed spots, as Flair is really starting to actually become a well respected wrestler. Now nobody is perfect, and Flair isn't yet, near perfect, but he has greatly improved thanks to OVW and it's workers as of late. Before the match Steve Bradley cut a short promo on Randy Orton, claiming he beat him in the ring last week, nothing too major here. Flair had an impressive spot, where he threw Bradley into the post shoulder first and as he turned around planted a huge DDT on him. Although Flair fought hand and hand with Bradley, he still lost due to the Roll of Dice by Bradley as he picked up the three count.
-Winner via pinfall Steve Bradley
-Next there was an interview segment with Jim Cornette and D'Lo Brown. Apparently D'Lo Brown made his surprise return last week and really made the local Davis Arena crowd a bit upset. D'Lo then had a pretty funny comment, apologizing for calling the local fans rednecks, and what he meant to call them was filthy disgusting trailer park trash. Very Entertaining. He then calls Mark Henry on his cell phone and carries on a conversation with Henry about how fat and out of shape he is. Apparently D'lo still thinks that Henry is the way he is while he was just about to leave WWF TV. Does anyone remember the vignettes with D'lo acting as the trainer of the out of shape Henry, well he basically said what he said then. Overall a very entertaining promo, it's good to see D'lo back in the states.
-Sean Casey & Chris Michaels vs.Jason Lee & Derrick King w/Sister Sharmell
-Overall one of the best matches of the night with some very impressive technical and tag team wrestling. In my opinion the best tag teams in the country squaring off in one great match. Derrick King took some major tossing around in the beginning, practically shrieking at the top of his lungs. King also pulled off a very impressive bottom rope spring board dropkick to the outside of the ring. Very impressive match over all. The match ended as Casey was held next to ringside and Sister Sharmell came up and slapped him in the face, knocking him down and allowing Jason Lee to pull off the school boy, and the win.
-Winners via pinfall Jason Lee & Derrick King
-Next Dean Hill interviews the Revolution just before the main event. Mainly Machine talked to Johnny Spade about the old days when it was just him, Spade, Dinsmore, Conway and Damaja and about how the other guys besides the two of them were all washed up. After that Victoria got on the mic and said, "No one out smarts Machine". Just then Flash came running in with a garbage can lid and layed out every member of the Revolution in the ring and got on the mic and told the crowd that Bull Buchanon beat him up just off the Interstate and Jim Cornette sent him. He had a great black eye and had his shirt all ripped up. Cornette denied what Flash said to be true.
-Brock Lesnar, Shelton Benjamin & Val Venis vs. Payne, Damien & Leviathan w/ Synn and Swail TV MAIN EVENT
-This was overall a very good match, as is the typical Tv main event on Ohio Valley Wrestling. Venis was sporting his old tights with the purple V running down that front and back and still has his hair like he did in the RTC. He as well as the Minnesota stretching crew were very over with the crowd, as well as the Deciples of Synn. The team of Benjamin, Lesnar and Venis are in my opinion in great ring condition considering they have been out of action for quite some time. The match ended as Lesnar pulled off a huge powerslam and Venis pulled off the money shot to the Demon of the Deep Leviathan and pinned him. -Winners via pinfall Lensnar, Benjamin & Venis
