*SPOILERS* Smackdown & Heat Taping Results - Montreal, QC - 01/10/16 Submitted by William Martinez on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at 3:56 PM EST
I attended last night's Smackdown tapings in Montreal, Quebec. I did not expect to do a spoiler report for LoP but I'll do my best to post everything that happened.
Ray Rougeau was introduced prior to the show.
Dark Matches
Albert d. Tommy Dreamer - Pretty slow match with Albert getting the Baldo Bomb for the win. A few ECW chants for Dreamer.
Chuck Palumbo d. Funaki - Good pop for Funaki. I missed the ending of the match but I know Palumbo won. Probably with the Jungle Kick.
Sunday Night Heat
The APA d. Hugh Morrus & Chris Kanyon - Awesome pop for the APA. The APA gets the win after Bradshaw's clothesline from hell.
Rhyno d. Billy Gunn - Pretty decent back and forth match. Rhyno wins with the gore as Billy Gunn was coming off the second rope.
X-Pac d. Crash - I missed this match but X-Pac won to retain the Light Heavyweight title.
Scotty Too Hotty d. Steven Richards - Scotty got the same kind of reaction from the fans as Billy Gunn, a mixture of cheers and boos. Scotty gets the win after a Worm and a forearm to the face.
Smackdown
The opening of the show was Chris Jericho talking about how he has never had opportunity, even during his years in WCW. Stephanie McMahon came out and said that Jericho can't win the big one and that she would be rooting for The Rock on Sunday at No Mercy which brought out The Rock. The Rock and Jericho then insulted Stephanie until she couldn't take it anymore and went crying into the back. Jericho and Rock then started talking to each other which resulted in Jericho doing The Rock's "just bring it" hand thing in The Rock's face. Rock rock bottomed Jericho and left.
Segments were shown throughout the show of the Alliance having a party for Rob Van Dam but they were waiting for him to show up. During the first segment, Christian was introduced to the Alliance as their newest member.
Segments involving a limousine were shown outside. After about 3 clips of just showing the limo, RVD stepped out but it looked like he was talking to someone who was still in the limo. That person turned out to be Vince McMahon.
After RVD showed up for his party, Austin gave him his watch. When he saw that RVD was talking to Vince, he gave it back and told him that on Sunday, he would have to choose between the Alliance and Vince McMahon.
An interview was done with Edge. Basically, Edge said that he wouldn't feel guilty about beating Christian after what he did on Raw.
An interview with Mick Foley was also done. He did his usual cheap pop along with the announcement that The Dudley Boyz will face The Big Show and Tajiri at No Mercy for the WWF Tag titles.
The Hurricane, Lance Storm & Mighty Molly d. The Hardy Boyz & Lita - Good back and forth match with Hurricane getting the win after Lita was knocked in the ropes knocking Jeff Hardy off the top. After the match, the APA stole the Hurri-cycle.
Maven d. Tazz - Since Tough Enough only began airing in Canada a short time ago, he didn't get a huge pop. Maven got the win after a distraction by Nidia causing Tazz to get rolled up.
Tajiri d. D-Von Dudley - Tajiri was accompanied by The Big Show and D-Von was accompanied by Bubba Ray and a very good looking Stacy Keibler. The end of the match saw Bubba sneak in and give a 3D to Tajiri but the Big Show chokeslammed D-Von giving Tajiri the win. After the match, Torrie Wilson ran in and pulled down Stacy's skirt.
Test & Booker T d. The Undertaker & Kane - Pretty slow match by everyone involved. The ending saw Test get rid of Kane by throwing him into the steps. As The Undertaker was about to give the last ride to Booker T, Test gave him the big boot giving Booker T the pinfall.
Raven & Justin Credible d. The Rock & Chris Jericho - The match never really got started as Jericho and Rock started brawling before the bell. Eventually, Raven and Credible started beating on both until Jericho came into the ring with a chair. He hit both Raven and Credible causing a DQ and then hit The Rock with the chair followed by a people's elbow by Jericho.
Rob Van Dam vs. Kurt Angle ended in a no contest (I think) - Good match with RVD busting Angle open yet again. Finish saw Austin run in to stun Angle and throw RVD out of the ring. RVD then came in and knocked down Austin. Since both Angle and Austin were down, RVD went to the top rope and hesitated to decide whether to hit Austin or Angle with the five-star frog splash but eventually, he hit Austin with it. Vince McMahon then came out to the top of the stage and did the RVD thumb thing with Austin lying in the ring very angry. I think that's when cameras went off the air.
After the cameras went off, Austin stayed out for about 15 minutes. He called out RVD and when RVD came out, he said forget about it. Austin then insulted the crowd and did his usual schtick.
The arena was very full and if it wasn't a sellout, it was the closest thing to a sellout I've ever seen. I spoke with a security guard after the show and he told me that the WWF has plans to run another TV show in Montreal around Wrestlemania time.
