World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Files Appeal in World Wildlife Fund Case in United Kingdom

STAMFORD, Conn., Oct. 16, 2001 - World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc., (NYSE: WWF) has formally filed an appeal of a British judge’s ruling that supports an agreement with the World Wildlife Fund that that the company believes has placed unreasonable restraints on its worldwide business. The appeal was filed Monday (Oct. 15) in the Court of Appeal in London.

WWFE argues in the appeal that an agreement it signed with the Fund in 1994 constitutes a restraint on trade. The Fund, now known in the U.K. as the Worldwide Fund for Nature, claims that the agreement prohibits the use of the “scratch” logo and the Internet address wwf.com (the fund’s Web address is wwf.org). The timing of a hearing on the appeal has not been determined. It could come late this year or early in 2002.

“We do not believe the Fund has in any way demonstrated that our use of the ‘scratch’ logo or the URL wwf.com has had any impact on the Fund’s activities that would justify such a restraint of trade,” said Edward Kaufman, WWFE Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “We do not believe there is any confusion in the public’s mind between the World Wrestling Federation and the World Wildlife Fund, and the logos of the two organizations.”

    Ryan Swartz sent this in

Found this in this week's Entertainment Weekly magazine (Issue #621, dated
Oct. 19, 2001). In the TV section, there's a brief preview of No Mercy this
Sunday. The tidbit reads as follows:

"8 PM - 2 AM -- WWF: No Mercy (IN DEMAND, TV-14-DLV) Get those American
flags unfurled for when Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle defends his WWF
    title. It's true"

I guess the kids at EW didn't see Raw last week.

The following are the dark match tapings that took place last night at Raw. If you do not want to know what happens on Jakked/Metal this weekend please stop reading now.

Thanks to Ryan Allen for sending this report in!

In Dark Matches and Jakked/Metal Tapings...

Crash defeated Steven Richards w/ swinging bulldog.

Saturn defeated Chuck Palumbo w/ 3 handled moss covered family cradenza

Mike Awesome defeated Scotty 2 Hotty w/ powerslam

Albert defeated Tommy Dreamer w/ the baldo bomb

Taka and Funaki defeated Justin Credible and Raven w/ roll-up

Hardy Boyz defeated Hugh Morrus and Kanyon via Twist of Fate/Swanton

RAW show was pretty good but the long commercials put the fans to sleep
(most noticable in the Tazz/Kidman match)

In a strange note , during the Alliance Promo , Justin Credible ran out of
the ring and to the back ,covering his face. No word on what happened to
    him.
