Just got back from the Jacksonville arena in my hometown of Florida from the World Wrestling Federation house show. On the show I witnessed first hand the return of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, as he challenged Kurt Angle for the WWF Championship. Early in the day, in my city of Orange Park, Kurt Angle signed autographs for myself and my family at the Orange Park Mall. The man was incredibly down to earth for being an Olympic gold medalist and 2 time WWF World Champion.

    Match #1:
    - Tajiri vs. Justin Credible

  • We sat right on the end of our aisle directly on the entrance guardrails, so we was shaking the hands of everyone that came out. Tajiri came out to a thunderous pop for the opening match. A lot of heel heat on Justin Credible for some of his pre and post match antics. The match ended when Tajiri landed a big kick for the 1-2-3.

    Match #2:
    - Raven vs. Chris Jericho

  • Chris Jericho came out to what had to be the loudest pop of the night. Raven came out with Terri Runnels. She is a tiny little woman in person, can't be but 5'0'' Anyways that match was just like anything you see Y2J doing on WWF television. All the normal spots were executed and looked very good from my ringside seats. He can fly pretty good for being somewhat bigger than most normal flyers. The match ended when Chris Jericho hit his "Break The Walls Down" (not sure if that's the name) finisher off the middle rope moonsault.

    Match #3:
    - Hardy Boyz & Lita vs. Hurricane/Lance Storm & Ivory

  • Probably the most reaction out of the crowd came in this match. Fans went nuts with the "Lita" chants throughout the entire bout. Lita hit all her high spots as did Matt and Jeff Hardy. At one point in the match Lance Storm, on the outside, jumped off the bottom rope to grab Jeff's hair and pull him down. Instead, Storm went in the ring tumbling over. Lot's of "You F'D Up" chants came from that mistake. Match ended when Lita hit a moonsault after Matt Hardy's "Twist of Fate."

    Match #4:
    - Rob Van Dam vs. X-Pac

  • X-Pac came out first to his older version of X-Factor theme for whatever reason. He grabbed the stick and trashed Jacksonville to get the crowd starting up the "X-Pac" sucks chants. Out came RVD. I went bilistic for his entrance. RVD did the majority of his usual spots except the "Van-Damintor." The match went to the back (since it was Hardcore rules) to the guard rails for his spinning leg drop. RVD was talking to the crowd the entire time saying "say it with me" then the self appraise thumb pointing. The match ended when RVD stuffed X-Pac into a trash can and hit the "5-star Frogsplash." On a little sidenote, after the match X-Pac was stuck in the trash can since it was bent so bad from RVD's finisher. Pretty funny stuff.

    Match #5:
    - Undertaker & Kane vs. Booker T & Test

  • Took about a legitimate 5 full minutes before Booker & Test even got in the ring. Undertaker was messing with Nick Patrick the entire match. Pretty boring once the match actually got underway. Kinda shows it took 4 people to make the Kronik match look so pathetic at Unforgiven. Towards the end, Taker & Kane hit a double chokeslam on Booker & Test, but when they went for the cover, referee Nick Patrick acted like he had something in his eye. This made Undertaker give Patrick the "Last Ride." Out came Mike Awesome, Justin Credible, and Raven. All three received chokeslams from Undertaker & Kane. While that was going on Booker T and Test left resulting in a no contest. I guess it should have been a count-out for them leaving or a D-Q for the interference, but whatever.

    15 Intermission

    Match #6:
    - Bradshaw vs. Mike Awesome

  • Man talk about a boring match. I'd give the majority of the blame to Mike Awesome because he was lifeless in the ring. Kept applying headlocks and chinlocks and would sit and catch his breath for about a minute or so. Match ended (thank god) when Bradshaw hit the "clothesline from hell" for the 1-2-3.

    Match #7:
    - Dudley Boyz vs. Big Show & Spike Dudley

  • Here is your "comic relief of the night" match. Buh-Buh grabbed the microphone and said he wants to finish this quick so he can get out of the trash city of Jacksonville. Big Show took the stick from him and sneezed, then said: "I am allergic to jackasses." Very big pop from the crowd. Entire match saw Big Show throwing Spike all over the Dudleyz. Small table chant broke out but no luck with any tables appearing in the match. Match ended when the Dudley Boyz hit the 3-D on Spike Dudley. Big Show then chokeslammed D-Von, Buh-Buh pulled D-Von out and off they went like a couple of scolded dogs, if I can rip off a JR line.

    Match #8:
    - Edge vs. Christian

  • Christian came out and cut the longest promo of the night. He knew how to draw heat from the crowd. He said something along the lines of the Jaguars stadium being next door and how badly the Browns would kill them at tomorrow's game. Out came Edge with a disgusting looking beaten up eyebakl. Towards the end Edge had trouble finding a second chair. He went for the conchairto but missed. Christian then hit Edge with the I-C title as the referee was getting Edge's chairs out. Christian got the 3-count and got out of town.

    Match #9:
    - Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle

  • Security got heavy for the entrances of these two. Stone Cold Steve Austin was in good shape despite his week or so layoff since Unforgiven. He had a 50/50 split of cheers and heat from the crowd. Went for the stunner several times but never succeeded. Kurt Angle hit the Olympic Slam and his Ankle-Lock submission during the match. The fight went outside the ring quite a bit and Austin was really talking trash to one particular fan who was shouting and flipping him off. Kurt Angle finally won with the Olympic Slam..or Angle Slam, whatever they call it now-a-days. Angle left to a huge USA chant as Austin grabbed the mic while laying flat on his back in the ring and called Angle back out. After much hesitation Angle came back out and pinned Austin a second time within 30 seconds. Austin grabbed the microphone again and said he was going to sing from his greatest hits collection since he just got his ass kicked twice. He sang some Conway Twitty song, and another country song from George Jones. He then said he was going to sing his famous song...but went through the curtain and dropped the microphone down.

Very exciting show, especially since I was right on the entrance aisle. Got many pictures, lots of handshakes, and a bunch of weird looks from wrestlers. Guess they had to play character despite any camera's being focused in on them. A select few had security block the fans off for some camera guy to take pictures of their entrances. It looked to be for a WWF magazine.
