One male and one female will be selected as winners of World Wrestling Federation contracts when the live season finale of WWF Tough Enough airs on Thursday, September 27, on MTV (10:00pm - 11:00pm EST). The season finale will be broadcast live from WWF New York in Times Square. Based on the success of the first season, World Wrestling Federation Entertainment and MTV Productions today announced that the show has been renewed for a second season. WWF Tough Enough 2 will begin production this fall and will air on MTV in early 2002. An open casting call is being held through October 5. Information and rules for submitting an application and video are available on www.wwftoughenough.com. ``WWF Tough Enough received great reviews right from the start. It consistently delivered the teen audience and it was one of the highest rated regularly scheduled programs on cable every Thursday night,'' said Stuart Snyder, President and COO of WWFE. ``As an added bonus, viewers of WWF Tough Enough, who were unfamiliar with our traditional programming, gained an insightful perspective of the World Wrestling Federation brand of entertainment.'' ``WWF Tough Enough has been an incredible success and the live element in the season finale will no doubt add a unique twist to reality programming,'' said Brian Graden, President, Programming, MTV. ``We look forward to working with World Wrestling Federation Entertainment on WWF Tough Enough 2 to provide our audience with a compelling new season.'' WWF Tough Enough, a reality-based television series documenting the discovery and creation of the next male and female World Wrestling Federation Superstars, debuted on MTV June 21, 2001. Of the more than 5,000 applications received as part of an open casting call held earlier in the year, 230 semifinalists were invited to participate in a live audition at WWF New York. The series followed 13 finalists as they lived together, trained together, and competed against each other to achieve their ultimate dream - contracts with the World Wrestling Federation. The weekly, half-hour show featured special appearances by World Wrestling Federation Superstars including Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mick Foley. WWF Tough Enough 2 will follow this same winning format with some variations to be announced at a later date. Like the first season, WWF Tough Enough 2 will be co-produced by MTV Productions and World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc.
