Cornette voiced his very vibrant opinion on the situation and then led the OVW superstars along with the Standing Room only Davis Arena crowd in saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag which was on the usual "advertising wall". -Rico Costatino w/ Bolin vs. Brock Lesnar -The match started off pretty quick with Lesnar showing some pretty good improvement since the time he's been out with an injury. Lesnar immediatly took advantage of Rico and pulled off a big Gorilla Press Slam. Overall a very decent match as the crowd was all over Rico. The match ended as Prototype came into the ring and attempted to take out Lesnar but missed. Lesnar then threw Prototype into Costatino and knocked him down then pulled off a suplex and got the pinfall. After the match the Deciples of Synn ran in because Lesnar was getting jumped by BS. Once they saved Brock they turned around and jumped Lesnar. Bobby Eaton and Damaja then came in for the save. -Winner Brock Lesnar via pinfall -Nick Dinsmore vs. Chris K. DARK MATCH -I'm pretty sure that this OVW Trainee is still going by the name Chris K. but I may be mistaken. It was overall a fairly good, technical match. The match seemed to convey that Dinsmore was technically toying with the trainee the whole match. Both before and after the match the two wrestlers shook hands. Chris K. had an impressive top rope springboard cross body move a towards the end of the match. The match ended with Dinsmore pulling off the super kick and picking up the pinfall. -Winner Nick Dinsmore via pinfall -The next segment was an interview segment with Dean Hill joined by the Revolution. The main purpose of this segment was for the Revolution to introduce their newest member, who is Victoria, who helped out the Revolution last week doing a run in. Machine stated that Victoria was the Queen of the Revolution and dubbed her "Queen Victoria". Should make for some interesting Television. Jim Cornette then abrubtly interupted the interview from the commentators booth and announced that he said last week that Machine would have to fight a WWF wrestler this week and then announced a Bull Buchanon vs. Machine match to take place immediatley following the commercial break. -Machine vs. Bull Buchanon -Buchanon came to the ring to a tremendous ovation from the OVW crowd. His ring attire consisted of White pants and white boots and seemed to be acting "boxer-like". I'm not sure what this means for his return to the WWF. The match was overall very good, with the crowd all over Victoria, who was still standing ringside. It was your typical Bull Buchanon brawl/powermove of a match, endind with Spade and Big Bad John of the Revolution storming the ring after the ref was accidentally knocked out. Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore then came in and allowed Machine and Buchanon to go at it alone in the ring. Eventually as the four brawled outside Flash made his OVW return back to the ring and interupted a pinning predicament with Bull about to pick up the win. Referee Robert Briscoe decided he had enough and called for the bell. Buchanon and Flash then get into a shoving match but the refs pull Bull to the back. -Winner Bull Buchanon via DQ -Cornette immediately goes down to the ring during the commercial break and tells Flash that he must explain his action to the fans. Flash basically states that the belt is rightfully his and he wants to be the one to beat Machine for the OVW title. He then bad mouths Buchanon which sparks Bull to come back to the ring for a confrontation and a few words on the mic to Flash. Bull tells Flash that he wants to, "Stick his foot up his tailpipe" but Cornette sets up a rematch between Buchanon and Machine next Tuesday night at St. Theres' Gym in Louisville. He then states that Flash can have a Title shot the following week. -David Flair & Ron "H2O" Waterman vs. Payne & Damien w/ Synn & Swail -Despite the reports of Damiens trouble in the New England area, he still is an active employee of OVW, as we saw this week. The match was overall very decent, with David Flair showing some great improvement since his WCW days. The match was an averaged pace match with Waterman really dominating on the offense. The match came to an end as Synn came into the ring and sprayed mace into the eyes of Waterman as the ref called for the bell. After this all of Bolin Services runs in and brawls with the Deciples of Synn. The Demon of the Deep, Leviathan, then immediately follows and clears the ring of Bolin Services. -Winners David Flair & Ron "H2O" Waterman via DQ -Randy Orton vs. Steve Bradley TV MAIN EVENT -The match started with some hard shoves being traded. Orton then started to domintate the offense pulling off a very impressive second rope, spring board, 180-Leg take down. The match then went back and forth with the two trading some high impact moves. It was a fairly high paced match, with Bradley drawing a ton of heat with his "thug life" mentality. The match ended kind of screwy, Orton went for his Wheelbarrow suplex pin but was reversed, he then eventually pulled off his Full Nelson Slam and got a three count. But since the ref missed that Bradley had his foot on the rope, which he really did, Orton said he would restart the match. Bradley then pulled off the roll of dice, and immediately started attacking the referee. This forced the officials to call for the bell as the other referees tried to save Briscoe. As the show went of the air David Flair came to the ring for the save. -Winner via DQ Randy Orton -Email me with your questions or comments at: AWLurch@hotmail.com MAW NEWS FOR 09/20/01 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ by Stacy McMackin, Moderator Mid American Wrestling debuts at its new venue, Kelly's Bleachers (7805 S. LARRY GOODMAN reviews WILDSIDE eps 104 NWA Wildside opened with Dan "The Dragon" Wilson at ringside in an empty NCW Arena. Wilson described their second anniversary show, which had just concluded, as one of the most spectacular in Wildside history. Wilson has a penchant for going overboard on the hyperbole, but there was no exaggeration in that statement. Wilson said that only portions of the anniversary show would air on television, as the entire card is scheduled for exclusive release on NCW home video. Wilson said this week's edition would feature an appearance by former Wildside TV Champion, Robbie Rage "who is gonna be bouncing bodies off the mat like MECW payroll checks." Also, former WCW and WWF announcer, Scott Hudson, would be joining his former broadcast partner and best friend, Steven Prazak, to call some of the action. 1) "Confederate Currency" Chris Hamrick, Lodi & Schwanz beat Doctor Heresy, Adam Booker & Cru Jones. Great to hear Prazak & Hudson together again on commentary. I dare say they never saw this much talent in the ring back in the days of the North Georgia Wrestling auction barn. Lodi looked juiced to the gills like a younger version of Perry Saturn with far better in-ring stuff than his WCW days. Weird to see Schwanz as a face. Heresy & Booker were in from the New England area. Booker took some of the stiffest looking blows ever seen in a Wildside ring during this bout. A really fun match. Heresy and Hamrick started it out reversing hammerlocks and headlocks. Meanwhile, Hudson got off some lines about the good doctor's physique. Hudson wondered if he specialized in anorexia. Hamrick scored with a dropkick and was going for the rocking horse when it broke into a six way brawl. Booker caught Hamrick's plancha attempt and rammed his back into the apron. Hamrick gave Booker a drop toehold into the apron. Booker grabbed a chair. Hudson said you want the Booker to have a chair. Hamrick hit an incredible Van Daminator type move on Booker, who was leaning against the apron into a chair on the opposite side of the ring! Standing ovation. Heresy charged into the ring with a jawbreaker on Hamrick. Hamrick dropkicked a chair into Heresy's face. Hudson hoped Heresy was a dentist. Lodi took over on Jones with a drop toehold followed by a dropkick and La Magistral cradle. Lodi got two with a spinning heel kick. Lodi bummed big time on a missed legdrop. Jones used a gutbuster. Hudson was amazed that Booker tagged in. Lodi did a leapfrog and took Booker head off with a lariat. Schwanz tagged in with a series of headbutts. Schwanz splashed Booker. Prazak said he was knocked clean into Larry Land. Schwanz caught Booker with the big boot followed by a spear in the corner. Schwanz got Booker on the mat and punished him with chops to the chest and kicks to back. Schwanz hit a short arm clothesline. Tag to Hamrick and things fell apart on a messed up spot. Booker gored Hamrick. Heresy did a corner clothesline on Hamrick. Hudson included Heresy in a list of doctor wrestlers: Dr. Bill Miller, Dr. Wagner Jr., Dr. X and Dr. Jerry Graham. After a series of reversals, Heresy did an inverted DDT and a cover until Schwanz broke it up. Jones kept the heat on Hamrick with a suplex and a lariat. Hamrick ducked Booker's charge into the corner and hit an awkward looking suplex/jawbreaker thing. Hamrick made the tag to Schwanz who cleaned house on the heels. Schwanz and Lodi double slammed Heresy to set up a top rope legdrop finisher by Hamrick. Prazak asked A. J. Styles about his match next week against "the new role model", Jason Cross, the man who stole his old persona. Styles said imitation was the sincerest form of flattery. He thanked Jeff G. Bailey for coming up with that gimmick for Cross. Styles said he had been working on some new original moves for Cross to steal...and experience firsthand. 2) Robbie Rage beat Goth. Add Rage to the long list of talent that WCW missed the boat on. Rage now makes Wildside appearances when he's between tours with New Japan. Nobody wants to fuck with the guy and for good reason. Match was joined in progress as Goth made the mistake of pissing Rage off. Rage stomped away and hit Goth with a series of knees to take him off he his feet. Rage locked on a rear chinlock that was no rest hold. Prazak told Hudson he was calling wrestling for the first time in a long time. Hudson fired back, saying when it's Jericho and Benoit, it's wrestling. Goth got a schoolboy two count. Rage punished Goth with knees and clubbing forearms to drive him to the mat again. Rage whipped Goth to the corner and ran into a boot. Goth got two counts with a slam and a neckbreaker. Prazak said Goth need to hook the leg. Hudson said thanks Brain. Rage used an overhead belly- to-belly release suplex, a t-bone suplex and a reverse shoulder breaker and it was all over. Promo by G-Rated (Kid Xtasy & Kid Kool). G-Rated explained what the G stood for and poked fun at various members of the Wildside roster. "There's the Lost Boys...there's nothing up there." Has to be seen to be appreciated. Xtasy is so animated that he's just naturally funny. Wilson stated that new companies were popping up every week claiming to be the next national promotion while NWA Wildside reached their second anniversary with syndication in 150+ station across the country. 3) J. C. Dazz (with Attorney/Agent Jeff G. Bailey) beat Caprice Coleman and Dango Wynn. Only the closing moments of the match were shown. Dango whipped Dazz to the ropes and dropped him on his face. Coleman gave Dazz the Thermal Shock. Coleman had a two count when Havok pulled him out of the ring. While Havok and Coleman battled their way back to the dressing room, Wynn chased Bailey, who crawled through the ring to get away. Wynn clotheslined Dazz and slammed him center ring. The ref was nowhere to be found. Wynn slipped coming off the top with an inverted splash but got the visual fall anyway. A masked man entered the ring to lay Wynn out with an elevated DDT. Wilson wondered if it was another Inazuma attack. Prazak said Silky hadn't been that thin since he was three. The masked man revealed himself as Jeremy Lopez, just back from a tour with Osaka Pro. Dazz locked the Reality Check (Rings of Saturn) on Wynn. Bailey said he wanted to hear the arm snap. Wynn passed out and referee Andrew Thomas called for the bell. Bailey did one of his vintage rants on the mic while Dazz refused to release the hold. He said Dazz had been sitting at home for four months listening to the propaganda peddlers in the announcers booth talk about Jimmy Rave. "Jimmy Rave is a big deal because he pinned Lyle Lovett, whoever that guy is. There not a junior heavyweight in the NWA even fit to put this ring up, much less wrestle in it." Bailey said Rave was "nothing more than walking ectoplasm," with no brains, no heart, no guts and no spine, while Dazz was the king of the juniors. Rave hit the ring to save Wynn. Rave challenged Dazz to a title match on 9/15. Bailey said Dazz would tear Rave's arm out of its socket. "When you're sitting at home like some old fossil stroke victim with your arm laying limp, I want you to remember tonight, the night where you had the guts to even think about getting in the ring with J. C. Dazz" They aired a clip from the previous episode where blind Justice gave his partner, Adam Jacobs the Death Penalty and got pinned after taking a Dynamite Driver from Rob Williams. Wilson said the Justice-Williams Wildside Heavyweight Title match from the anniversary show would air in its entirety on the next episode. Justice and Jeff G. Bailey cut a backstage promo. The delivery and facial expressions made this a great promo more so than the words. Bailey said Williams couldn't compete with the monster and his pinning Justice was a fluke. Justice said Williams didn't defeat him with that split leg pedigree, he unleashed him. Justice said that the Elite had a little problem and the powder backfired, but Cross had been forgiven, no problem. Justice said the Wildside belt had been around the waist of the best and he was no exception. 9/1 was not only going to be an anniversary, it was also going to be Rob Williams' funeral. The next segment featured the violence of the Usual ' Suspects: New Jack, Blackout (Rainman & Homicide) and Havok, as they blazed a trail of destruction through Wildside: Caprice Coleman...Sweet Dreams...White Trash going through the steel coffin and Tank being chained to an SUV, accompanied by a graphic that read BODY COUNT: 4 (and Rising...). Promo by Blackout with Havok. Rainman said Tank & Trash got their nosed rubbed in it, like a dog who crapped on the floor. Homicide's turn: "It's all good. You can go smack my mama, smack my dad, but once you step into the ring and talk crap to me...it's on and crackin', just like your back when you went through the six chairs." Homicide said Havok was bigger than that boy in The Green Mile. "If Total Destruction didn't stick their nose in our business, we would have drug Tank's retarded psychopathic ass all the way down 985." Homicide told White Trash that taking their tag title belts wasn't happening. Wilson recapped Ed Ferrara's arrival in Wildside, calling him one of the creative minds behind WWF and WCW. Wilson said Ferrara's no-women-in-wrestling deal had been answered by Lazz. A five minute survival match was booked for the anniversary show. If Ferrera survived five minutes with Lazz, he got five minutes with the Wildside creative mind, NWA VP Bill Behrens. 4) Lazz beat Ed Ferrara. Match was joined in the closing moments as Lazz brought a chair into the ring. Prazak said that was more of a marital aid than a weapon for Lazz. Lazz faked a chair shot and when Ferrara covered up, Lazz grabbed him by the nuts. Lazz sat Ferrara in the chair for a lap dance. Hudson called for a commercial break. No such luck. Lazz sent Ferrara flying with a dropkick with Ferrera still seated on the chair. Lazz went for the Brittany Spear on Ferrara and gored referee Jimmy Rivers instead. Ferrara went to the floor for a chair, but Bill Behrens came down the ramp and clocked Ferrara with the tennis racket ala Jim Cornette. Behrens shoved Ferrara back in the ring and this time Lazz hit the mark with the Brittany Spear. Rivers was too groggy to make the count, so Behrens slapped Rivers hand on the mat for the 1-2-3. 5) Adam Jacobs beat Onyx in a NWA World Television Title match with the help of Bailey. Bailey on the mic once again. "Thank you for that awed hush for the World Television Champion." Lucretia, the ring girl brought in a bouquet of flowers from Jacobs' secret admirer. Prazak said only in The South would you have Lucretia the ring girl. Bailey offered Jacobs the keys to his caddy. "Honey, he'll put you in the back seat for a while. It's the luckiest night of your life." Onyx came dancing down the ramp. Bailey was pissed. "Can't you see there's a beautiful woman somewhere in the crowd? Although she must be well hidden..." Jacobs said no WWF jobber was going to beat him. "The sooner I get finished with your ass, the sooner I can lay the lumber." Jacobs slapped Onyx and got down in a football stance. Onyx knocked him down with a shoulder tackle. Jacobs bailed and Onyx wiped his ass with the bouquet of flowers. Jacobs pulled Onyx out of the ring. Onyx blocked punches and reversed a whip sending Jacobs into the rail. Jacobs back dropped Onyx over the guardrail with Onyx landing on his feet. A female fan slapped Jacobs right across the face. Not a plant either. Onyx whipped Jacobs into a section of the cage fencing. Onyx dumped Jacobs back over the guardrail and backdropped him on the entrance ramp. Back in the ring, Onyx landed a series of punches. Onyx whipped Jacobs to the corner and charged into an elbow. Jacobs missed a moonsault. Onyx dropped Jacobs on his face out of the gorilla press. Onyx missed a stan
