    NWA Squashes Title Match Rumors;
    "Dream Match" Added to Card;
    September Show Added

    TAMPA - Despite Japanese press and internet rumors to the contrary, the NWA announced today that Zero-One's Shin'ya Hashimoto has not yet signed to face NWA World Heavyweight Champion Steve Corino in the main event of the October 13th "Battle of the Belts" show at the Fort Homer W. Hesterly Armory.

    While NWA officials said negotiations with the Japanese superstar were still ongoing, nothing has been confirmed, but he hopes to make an announcement regarding Corino's opponents no later than Friday, September 21st. Officials did confirm, however, that one person who would not be facing Corino is former NWA World Champion Sabu, who will be in Japan at the time of the show. The NWA said the field is still wide open and could be just about anyone including Dan "the Beast" Severn, Barry Windham, Buff Bagwell, or even someone who has not yet been mentioned. NWA Presiden Howard T. Brody confirmed that he has been contacted by several competitors in the last few days seeking the title match.

    Meanwhile, in what may well be billed as a "Dream Match" for internet wrestling fans, it was also announced today that "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, a regular with NWA ECCW, would return to the Armory (last seen there in the three-way dance finals of the "Super Junior Open"), to face NWA Wildside's A.J. Styles, a match up with all the potential to steal the show.

    For the very latest on the NWA's 53rd Anniversary weekend and the "Battle of the Belts 2001" card, including ticket prices and bell time, please visit http://www.nwa-florida.com/botb.htm

    NWA Florida also announced today the addition of a show titled "NWA Late Night" on Wednesday, September 26th at Fun, the Bay Area's most innovative nightclub experience, located 1507 E. 7th Avenue in the heart of historic Ybor City.

    Set for a 10 p.m. bell time, with doors opening at 9 p.m., six matches are scheduled as NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Lex Lovett defends his title against IPW champ "Black Nature Boy" Scoot Andrews; NWA Florida Heavyweight Champion "Iceman" Buck Q. puts his title on the line against Rastaman; Florida Unified Tag Team Champs the Shane Twins (with Ronald J. Niemi IV) defend against Quickie Mart; NWA Florida Junior Heavyweight Champ Jet Jaguar faces one-half of the NWA World Tag Team Champs "Vivacious" Vito in a non-title match while the other half of the NWA World Tag Team Champs "Casanova" Chris faces Pepe Prado; and IPW Light Heavyweight Champ "Miami Pound Machine" Rod Steel meets "Marvelous" Mike Sullivan (with XTC).

    All tickets for this show will be available at the door.

    And finally, NWA Florida sends its prayers and wishes out to those families and individuals who suffered tremendous losses at the hands of the terrorists on September 11th.
