    WWE Monday Night Raw 11/17/08
    Atlanta, Georgia

The opening montage started the show.

A shot aired of the ring filled with various WWE superstars for Stephanie McMahon's "Raw Superstar Forum." There was a platform set up in the ring where the wrestlers stood to ask their questions. Stephanie walked onto the stage and stood in front of a podium and explained that the wrestlers could ask her questions.

Randy Orton asked why John Cena is getting the World Title match at the Survivor Series. Stephanie said the decision was made by Shane McMahon without her. She defended the move by stating that Cena is a three time former champion. Orton said that was fine, but he wanted the winner to know that he's next.

Cody Rhodes stood on the platform and asked why Orton wasn't suspended for attacking Ted DiBiase. Steph said they are all grown men. She said Orton also kicked Punk in the head and now has to face him tonight in a lumberjack match with 30 superstars at ringside. Orton protested and said that would lead to nothing but chaos.

Santino took the mic and pointed out a rapper in the crowd (Akon), calling him Acorn. He rapped his question, which was a all about losing the Intercontinental Title to William Regal. "Take that William Regal," he said. "You're not even in a restaurant and you got served." Steph pointed out that Santino had two rematches overseas this week and lost them both.

JBL stepped up and asked where Vince McMahon is. He said he has a problem with Shawn Michaels, just like Vince did. Steph said her father was out of the picture and therefore she and Shane are running the show. She noted HBK and JBL would be captaining teams at the Survivor Series. HBK stepped up and joked around for a bit before attacking JBL. They were quickly separated and HBK was the only wrestler left in the ring just a few seconds later.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler spoke from ringside briefly. They announced that the Raw Divas will battle the Smackdown Divas in an elimination tag at the pay-per-view. The match features Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly and Candice Michelle and Jillian Hall and Mickie James vs. Michelle McCool and Natalya and Maryse and Victoria and Maria.

    1. Kelly Kelly defeated Victoria in 1:30. The announcers noted that Victoria is from Smackdown and stated that the match was a preview of the Survivor Series match. Kelly rolled up Victoria for the win. However, Victoria attacked her afterward and hit the Widow's Peak.

Jillian, Mickie, and Candice ran out for the save. Beth ran out and attacked Victoria from behind and then threw her back inside the ring so the other Divas could work her over. Beth finished it off by hitting her finisher on Victoria.

At ringside, the announcers explained the rules of the Survivor Series elimination rules and then ran through the previously announced Survivor Series matches.

A shot aired of Batista walking backstage. Cole said Batista would face Manu after the break.

    2. Batista defeated Manu (w/Cody Rhodes) in 4:10. Before the match, they aired highlights of Manu's father Afa from his Wild Samoans days. Manu dominated the early offense and hit a nice Samoan Drop. Randy Orton walked onto the stage to watch the match. Batista came back and hit the Batista Bomb for the win.

After the match, Batista took the mic and addressed Orton by telling him that he's been waiting to kick his ass for years. He told him to stop worrying about John Cena getting the title shot and start worrying about what he was going to do to him on Sunday.

The announcers hyped JBL and Kane vs. Cryme Tyme, and Rey Mysterio and HBK vs. John Morrison and The Miz for later in the show.

After the break, Stephanie stood on the stage and introduced WWE Hall of Famer Chief Jay Strongbow. He joined her on the stage and waved to the crowd, which gave him a polite applause.

The announcers ran through the pay-per-view lineup again, this time focussing on the Smackdown matches. They noted that Jeff Hardy could earn a spot in the WWE Title match with a win over Triple H on this week's Smackdown.

Backstage, Randy Orton gave Cody Rhodes a hard time about backing out of a fight with Batista. Orton said the lumberjack match will make it impossible for C.M. Punk to escape him. Cody told Orton to keep talking "because right now it's what you're best at".

Todd Grisham stood on the stage and said viewers were about to see one of the most exciting and innovative young wrestlers to appear in WWE in a long time. Highlights aired of Evan Bourne, including the ankle injury he suffered on ECW TV three weeks ago. Grisham introduced Bourne and said he would provide an update on his condition.

Bourne walked out on crutches with a walking boot over his foot. He started to cut a babyface promo about his ankle feeling better every day. Mike Knox walked out and stood behind him. Bourne stopped talking and looked at Knox, who just glared at him before finally leaving the stage.

Backstage, Shawn Michaels was walking with Rey Mysterio. He stopped him and said he needed to get something off his chest. He said he's teamed with Marty Jannetty, Triple H, and even Hulk Hogan. He made a comment about how he's not even a celebrity in reference to a remark Hogan must have made about him. HBK joked around and then Dolph Zigler showed up. Before Zigler could say anything, Michaels shook his hand and said, "You're Dolph Zigler".

The announcers hyped the Punk vs. Orton lumberjack match.

    3. John Morrison and The Miz defeated Shawn Michaels and Rey Mysterio in 11:10. Good rapid fire action early on. Mysterio set up Morrison for the 619, but Miz tripped him. HBK ran over and hit a baseball slide on Miz and then dove over the top rope on top of him. Meanwhile, Mysterio dove onto Morrison on the other side of the ring.

The babybaces were still in control after the break, but Miz whipped Mysterio into the ringpost. Mysterio's shoulder struck the post and then the heels took control of the offense for the first time. Later, Rey made the hot tag to HBK, who set up for Sweet Chin Music, but Miz avoided it by falling to the match.

At 11:00, Shawn hit Sweet Chin Music on The Miz. However, Morrison caught HBK with a superkick of his own. Miz recovered enough to cover HBK and score the win for his team. Afterward, Morrison celebrated the victory by himself briefly before tending to Miz, who was selling HBK's finisher.

At ringside, the announcers discussed Green Week at Universal. Cole said he uses reusable shopping bags at the grocery store. Lawler said he follows his girlfriend around and turns off any lights she turns on because you can have more fun in the dark with girls than you can with the lights on.

The latest John Cena video aired while a sappy song played in the background. Cena was shown staring at the arena in Boston.

Backstage, Stephanie told Chris Jericho that since he wanted equal time, he got it. Jericho said he hoped Steph was enjoying herself now because Cena was going to cause more controversy and problems when he returned. Jericho said that deep down Steph must hope he retains the title.

Backstage, Todd Grisham interviewed C.M. Punk and aired highlights of Orton kicking him in the head. Punk said the last few weeks have bothered him because Orton ruined his miracle year. He said it all came to a screeching halt when Orton kicked him in the head. Punk said his father isn't a WWE Hall of Famer and he wasn't mentored by Ric Flair or Triple H, but tonight he's going to get payback.

Backstage, Kane warned JBL that he would have a mutiny on his hands if he upset him.

    Cryme Tyme made their entrance.

    4. JBL and Kane defeated Cryme Tyme in 3:00. Kane dominated the action and then JBL tagged himself into the match. JBL hit the Clothesline from Hell on JTG and scored the pin. Afterward, Kane glared at JBL as he left the ringside area.

Backstage, Kofi spoke with Bourne and told him that he hopes he's back in time for the Royal Rumble. Mike Knox showed up and attacked both wrestlers. After taking out Kofi, Knox turned his attention to Bourne, who crawled away from Knox while pleading with him. Knox picked up one of Bourne's crutches and slammed it over his bad ankle.

Cole recapped the Knox and Bourne angle. Cole referred to Knox as a bully and said he got rid of the strong (Kofi) to prey on the weak.

    5. William Regal fought Matt Hardy to a double countout in a non-title match in 1:00. Before the match, Regal cut a promo regarding the differences between the United States and the UK. Regal found his horrible shirt now that he's back in the United States. Regal and Hardy fought to ringside and continued battling as the referee counted to 10. Several referees ran out to pull them apart.

Chris Jericho walked to the ring for a promo. He mocked all the fuss of John Cena. He ran through his own history, which included a clip of him defeating The Rock to win the WCW Title. They also showed Jericho defeating Steve Austin 20 minutes later to become the first Undisputed Champion in history.

Jericho bragged about winning the scramble match even though he had already fought in a match earlier in the night. He vowed to eliminate "the phenomenon that is John Cena." He said then Monday Night Raw would finally be saved.

The announcers hyped the main event for after the break.

    6. Randy Orton defeated C.M. Punk in a lumberjack match in 9:25. There were several ECW wrestlers along with the Raw wrestlers serving as lumberjacks. Orton was tossed to ringside early. He sucker punched Jamie Noble and then the babyfaces ganged up on him and threw him back inside the ring.

Punk scored a late nearfall and then followed up with a leg lariat. Punk hit the knee lift and bulldog combo for another nearfall. Later, Orton was setting up or the RKO, but Punk nailed him with a dropkick that sent Randy to ringside. The heels helped Orton to his feet, but Batista punched him twice and then Punk dove off the top rope onto Orton. Back inside the ring, Punk was distracted by something Regal did (the cameras missed it) and Orton hit the RKO for the win.

After the match, Orton tried to punt kick Punk, but Batista cut him off with a spear (after pushing the referee out of the way). JBL ran in attacked Batista, but Michaels fought him off. Kane ran in choked HBK, but Mysterio attacked Kane. All hell broke loose with all of the lumberjacks fighting in and around the ring to close the show.
