WWE Raw 10/6/08 Live from Seattle, WA
The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the stage. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler welcomed us back to the WWE Universe and to the show. Chris Jericho came out to the ring alone in a suit with the title over his right shoulder. His mouth and lips were severely bruised.
Jericho told those people who did not know that Mike Adamle was away at a meeting with Shane and Stephanie McMahon and that he left Jericho in charge. Jericho said he would run the show to the best of his abilities. Jericho said Michaels did succeed at permanently disfiguring him. He then gave the camera a long shot at the half tooth that was knocked out by Michaels.
Jericho said the irony was in the fact that thinking about Michaels made him smile. Jericho said he was done with Michaels and he had nothing left to prove to anyone. He said he was passing Michaels off to someone else and that someone else was Lance Cade. Jericho made Cade vs. Michaels in an anything goes match for tonight's show.
Batista's music hit and he strolled out to the ring in a wife beater and jeans. Batista congratulated Jericho and told him to pick a number. Jericho wondered what he meant. Batista wanted to know the number of days before they had their world championship match. He suggested tonight. Jericho told Batista to be careful what he wishes for because he just might get it.
Jericho said that while Batista called himself an animal, Jericho was an animal. Jericho said he scratches and claws his way to victory. He said he would make sure the name Batista becomes synonymous with failure. Jericho told Batista to get out of his face and out of his ring. Batista told Jericho he would have to defend the title against him and hit a spinebuster on him, leaving him lying in the middle of the ring.
Cole plugged tonight's tag team match pitting Henry and Kane against Mysterio and Hardy.

During the break, an incensed Jericho said he could not strip Batista of being the number one contender, but he could make him put it on the line again. He made Batista vs. JBL with the winner becoming the number one contender. He then named himself as the special guest referee.
William Regal and Layla were shown at ringside.
1. Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix defeated Jamie Noble and Mickie James in 1:43. Santino took the microphone and said he has been criticized for being too Italian. In an effort to be more American, he adopted a new favorite NBA team. He removed his shirt to reveal an Oklahoma City Thunder shirt, causing the Seattle fans to boo him loudly. He then said, "The NBA; it's terrific!"
After a fast paced ninety seconds, Santino rolled up Jamie for the win. After the match, Jamie went after Santino, who was celebrating with Beth Phoenix. Regal went after Noble and the two had to be pulled apart.
Backstage, Shawn Michaels asked Todd Grisham what he was supposed to do. In a solid, emotional promo, Michaels said he still had plenty of gas left in his tank.

2. Ted Dibiase (with Manu and Cody Rhodes) defeated Kofi Kingston (with CM Punk) in 2:43. Punk came out after everyone had already made their entrances. Kofi began the match with impressive high flying offense. Rhodes distracted Kofi and was attacked by Punk, however, Dibiase was able to hit the Million Dollar Dream into a Russian leg sweep for the win.

Backstage, Jericho was talking to who we thought was JBL. He said there was no sense in pretending they were friends and that Batista being the number one contender was bad for both of them. The camera pulled back to reveal Randy Orton. Orton asked Jericho what he wanted from him. Jericho said he was going to put Orton to work.
Cole and King talked about John Cena. Cole introduced a video package focusing on Cena and his impending return. Batista and referee Mike Chioda put over Cena in the video. Footage was shown of their SummerSlam match and Cena getting hurt. Extensive footage was shown of Cena's doctor explaining the injury and the process of the surgery.
Kane, Mark Henry, and Tony Atlas walked through the backstage area. Dolph Ziggler tried to introduce himself, but he thought better of it. He finished his intro to Atlas trailing behind, but Atlas snubbed him.

Kane had the advantage on Hardy coming back from the break. Mysterio and Hardy worked over Henry's knee during the break. Mysterio hit a lot of striking offense on Henry while Henry was grounded. He was able to overpower Mysterio after interference by Kane and the two heels gained the overwhelming advantage.
Once all hell broke loose, Mysterio hit the 619 on Kane. Hardy went to the top rope as Mysterio dove at Henry. Henry threw Mysterio at the top rope, causing Hardy to fall into Kane, who hit a chokeslam for the win.
It was announced that Triple H will defend the WWE Championship against The Big Show on Smackdown.

WWE 24/7 featured footage from Wrestlemania XIV in Boston. The focus was on Kane delivering of a tombstone piledriver on Pete Rose.
4. Shawn Michaels defeated Lance Cade in a no disqualification match in 2:56. Both men went right at each other. Cade yelled "I hate you" at Michaels while delivering clubbing right hands. Cade quickly set up a table on the floor and hit Michaels with a spinebuster through it. Cade threw Michaels back into the ring and followed with a chair.
Michaels intercepted the chair and hit Cade with it similar to the way Steve Austin attacked The Rock at Wrestlemania X-Seven. Like Austin, Michaels then scored the pinfall.
Michaels grabbed the chair and hit Cade many more times. He had a hard ass look on his face as he stared down Cade before leaving the ring.
The main event was plugged. A commercial aired for the Hell in a Cell DVD set.

Did you know? WWE Smackdown was the highest rated show in the history of My Network TV. Cole plugged Triple H vs. Big Show for the WWE Championship this Friday.
Jerry Lawler announced that the fans can choose Santino Marella's opponent for the Intercontinental Championship at Cyber Sunday. The choices are Roddy Piper, Goldust, or The Honky Tonk Man.
Lillian Garcia was about to announce the next match but The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh came out. Khali cut a promo on Johnny Knoxville. They showed the footage of the interview where Knoxville asked Khali how big his penis was. Khali got pissed and the interview abruptly ended.
Khali invited Knoxville to Raw next week and was going to prove he was a fun guy. Khali then hosted the Kiss Cam. The last shot was of Lillian Garcia. Khali brought her into the middle of the ring and planted a huge kiss on her. Singh followed that up with , "The Great Khali says he'll call you." Lillian only looked moderately appalled.

6. Batista defeated JBL with Chris Jericho as the special guest referee to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship in 7:32. Orton told King and Cole that he had no idea why he was out there but it did not matter because he would be the champion once he returned from injury.
Batista covered JBL early and Jericho slowly counted to one. Batista worked extensively on the left leg of JBL. He applied the figure four leg lock. Jericho broke the hold after JBL touched the ropes. JBL hit a neckbreaker for a fast two count.
Batista hit a suplex and covered JBL, but Jericho did not count the pinfall. He left the ring and the competitors soon followed. Jericho pretended to yell at JBL but Regal used the distraction to attack Batista. Jericho counted another fast two and JBL applied a full nelson. He then locked in a sleeper. Batista hit a back suplex to break the hold.
Jericho rooted JBL on. After Jericho allowed Regal to interfere, Mike Adamle reappeared and sent Mike Chioda down to referee the match. Batista dodged a Closeline from Hell attempt and hit the Batista Bomb for the win.
Adamle took the microphone. He said it was ironic that Jericho named himself the special referee tonight because he had the same idea. Shane and Stephanie told him to shake things up. He made a title match at Cyber Sunday between Chris Jericho and Batista with the fans naming the special referee. The choices were Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
