ROH PPV #9 Tapings Results from Boston 9-19-08

    Pre-show

Frankie Arion vs. "Dirty" Ernie Osiris

Quick fun match to open up. Osiris wins by rolling up Arion and putting his feet on the ropes.

    Winner: "Dirty" Ernie Osiris

"Brutal" Bob Evans vs. "Sugarfoot" Alex Payne

This match saw some quick submissions and was fun to watch. Evans finishes off Payne with a low front powerslam.

    Winner: "Brutal" Bob Evans

    Main Show

"The Littlest Redwood" Mitch Franklin is introduced. Franklin is debuting a lumberjack gimmick. He grabs the mic to introduce himself. Crowd starts chanting "Shut the fuck up." He says he's been up to the Yukon learning from the best fighters, the lumberjacks. He now wants to be known as "The Littlest Redwood" Grizzly Redwood.

Grizzly Redwood vs. Chasyn Rance w/YRR
Great opener to the main show. Chasyn Rance scores the win after a piledriver. Mitch Franklin's new gimmick actually got a nice reaction from the crowd.

    Winner: Chasyn Rance

Austin Aries makes his way to the ring to begin the PPV taping. Crowd is already starting to chant for him and he says to wait until they actually start taping the PPV.

    PPV Taping

The chant starts up again. Aries calls out Jimmy Jacobs and says they need to settle how the last PPV ended since they nearly killed each other. Jacobs comes out to the entrance to say that since he's a tag champion, he gets to call the shots. Delirious shows up in the ring to attack Aries.

Austin Aries vs. Delirious w/Jimmy Jacobs

Pretty good match between the two. Delirious is ordered by Jacobs to deliver multiple Panic Attacks to Aries. Aries takes the win following a brainbuster and locking on the Horns of Aries for the tap out.

    Winner: Austin Aries

Jacobs enters the ring to beatdown Aries. Tyler Black runs out as the Age Of The Fall deliver a beatdown on Aries with Jacobs putting him through a table on the outside hurting his back.

Sweet 'N' Sour Inc. make their way to the ring. Larry Sweeney grabs the mic to start running the crowd down and says that Sara Del Ray is the most dangerous woman wrestler ever. A random woman wrestler makes her way to the ring and Sweeney says this will be a display of Sara Del Ray.

Sara Del Ray vs. random woman's wrestler.

This was a short match that lasted about 3 moves ending with Del Ray hitting a Royal Butterfly for the win.

    Winner: Sara Del Ray

Sweeney sends her to the limos in the back for champaign, sushi, etc. He says that Adam Pearce and Eddie Edwards are contracted to face Brent Albright and Erick Stevens calling them out. Albright and Stevens make a beeline for the ring and our match is underway.

Brent Albright and Erick Stevens vs. Adam Pearce and Eddie Edwards w/Sweet 'N' Sour Inc.

Great tag match with lots of back and forth action along with high impact moves. Albright takes the win for his team after hitting Pearce with the half nelson suplex.

Winners: Brent Albright and Erick Stevens

Bobby Dempsey comes down to the ring to carry out Adam Pearce. Both Albright and Stevens chase Sweeney to the back.

Jerry Lynn makes his way out saying that it may be time for him to retire at his age. He was watching an ROH DVD at home where Chris Hero slapped one of his good friends, Lance Storm. He wants a match with Hero.

Jerry Lynn vs. Chris Hero w/Shane Hagadorn and Eddie Edwards

Great match with lots of heat. The crowd was really enjoying this one. The end saw the referee getting distracted while Sara Del Ray returned to the ring and tossed a show to Hero allowing him to get the win.

    Winner: Chris Hero

    Three Way Elimination Match
"American Dragon" Bryan Danielson vs. Go Shiozaki w/Larry Sweeney vs. Claudio Castagnoli

Great match with the three. CAstagnoli is the first one eliminated via disqualification as the referee was unable to pull him off of a beatdown on Danielson in the corner followed by delivering a butterfly suplex to the referee. It took officials and students to get him out of the ring and to the back while he greatly fought back. Shiozaki and Danielson landed some stiff shots to each other. Danielson gets the win after Shiozaki taps to the triangle choke.

    Winner: "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson

Danielson grabs the mic and says that it doesn't matter if Nigel McGuinness or Roderick Strong win the title match because he's taking it from them at the next PPV.

    Tag Team Scramble Match
Jason Blade and Kenny King vs. The Vulture Squad w/Julius Smokes vs. Jay and Mark Briscoe vs. The Necro Butcher

This was a fun scramble match that broke down fairly quickly with even the Necro Butcher taking a cannonball dive to the outside on all his opponents. The Briscoes end up sending the Butcher to the outside through set up chairs they got from the crowd. The Briscoes get the win after a springboard Doomsday Device on Jason Blade with Jay getting the cover for the win.

    Winners: Jay and Mark Briscoe

    Bonus Match
    Daizee Haze vs. Madison Eagles

A very short, but fun match. The Haze is very over with the crowd. Haze takes the win after heart punch and the Mind Trip.

    Winner: Daizee Haze

    Bonus Match
Josh Daniels vs. "Addicted to Love" Rhett Titus

A great match to get the crowd going before the rest of the PPV is taped. There were lots of hard chops by Daniels and a lot of lewd gestures by Titus. Titus takes the win after reversing a roll up and pulling the tights.

Winner: "Addicted to Love" Rhett Titus

    PPV taping resumes

    ROH World Heavyweight Championship Match
    Nigel McGuinness(c) vs. Roderick Strong

This was an excellent match with great crowd reaction. There was lots of hard hitting exchanges in this match and I hope it comes off great when the PPV airs. McGuinness takes the win after hitting Strong with multiple lariats and a London Dungeon.

Winner and still ROH World Heavyweight Champion: Nigel McGuinness

McGuinness takes the mic and says that if Bryan Danielson wants a title shot, he's got it at the next PPV.

    ROH Tag Team Championship Match
Kevin Steen and El Generico vs. Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black(c)

This was the absolute best match of the night that had both great wrestling as well as a great crowd reaction. Lots of back and forth action with several false finishes. After Jacobs was knocked to the outside, Steen hit Black with a Package Piledriver rolling him through to Generico for a brainbuster and the victory.

Winners and new ROH Tag Team Champions: Kevin Steen and El Generico

The crowd celebrated hard singing "Ole" by the Bouncing Souls.

Overall this was an excellent show and should come off great on PPV.

ROH returns to Boston on May 8th.
