Hello Guys! Sorry for the no-reports for the last few weeks...I've been really busy, especially after the effects of Hurricane Ike. Won't go into the details, but thankfully no serious damage was done to my home.
Friday Night Smackdown! Fridays 8/7 ET Nashville, Tennessee
SmackDown! video package rolls and fireworks go off as we are introduced to another edition of Friday Night SmackDown!
Tazz and JR inform us that later on tonight Jeff Hardy will take on The Brian Kendrick and MVP will take on Triple H.
Michelle McCool’s music hits and she makes her way down to the ring to a good ovation. Her opponent is Maryse.
Justin Roberts adds that this bout is for the Divas Championship.
Match 1: Michelle McCool v. Maryse (Divas Championship) As the bell rings, the two lockup. Shortly thereafter, McCool takes Maryse down, but eventually gets her head caught and Maryse is suddenly in control. McCool tries fighting out of a side headlock, and after a few seconds manages to break the hold. Once she gets back to her feet, Maryse connects with a shoulder block knocking the All American Girl back down to the mat. Maryse boasts in front of the crowd, but eventually pays for it as McCool dropkicks Maryse in the face and sends her to the outside. McCool goes after her, but is tripped and sent back into the ring. Maryse covers, but only gets a 2 count. Maryse begins to pound McCool, but McCool starts to fight back. The two exchange a few punches until Maryse slams McCool’s face into the mat. After a few minutes from Maryse’s offense, McCool builds momentum and eventually connects with a running neckbreaker. She covers, but gets a 2 count. When the two make it back to their feet, they share a few reversal holds until McCool hits the Wings of Love for the 3 count.
Match Rating: 2.5/5. Not a bad start to the show. The Wings of Love certainly did receive a nice ovation from the crowd.
Vickie is show backstage with the Big Show. Eve stops by and wanted to interview them regarding the Undertaker, but Vickie doesn’t want to talk about him. Eve then adds that she has been training to become a wrestler, but Vickie and Show laugh and tell her to see how to fight…
Big Show clicks play on the remote and…
…We are shown a clip from Unforgiven where Big Show manhandled the Undertaker.

We are shown a famous bar in the Nashville area.
“Biscuits and Gravy!” hits and Festus is accompanied to the ring with Jesse. They bring some bubble rap down to the ring.
Match 2: Festus v. Ryan Braddock Bell rings and as usual, Festus goes crazy. He begins to pound Braddock in the corner. Braddock tries fighting back, but gets an uppercut. Festus however makes a mistake as he misses a flying shoulder tackle attempt. Braddock applies a headlock which is countered quite quickly. Festus hits a big boot and sits on top of Braddock. Festus then lifts Braddock up and connects with his signature flapjack like maneuver. At this point, Jesse tosses in duck tape and the referee calls for the bell. Winner by DQ Ryan Braddock.
-Commercial-
Post-Match: Bell rings and Festus is calm. Jesse ties Ryan Braddock in the bubble rap and rolls him to the back.
(Match/Segment Rating: 2/5. A decent match with an okay aftermath. Wonder how long this will last.)
JR and Tazz inform us that the return of Carlito’s Cabana will be later on tonight.
Big Show and Vickie are laughing together backstage. They say that if Undertaker shows up tonight, they will make him get on his knees and apologize.
We are then seen another clip of the Big Show punching out the Undertaker.
Shelton Benjamin is shown on the titantron. He basically says his decisions have led him to become the greatest commodity in the WWE. He then rips on R-Truth with how his decisions have led him to prison.
“Ain’t No Stoppin Me Now!” hits and Shelton Benjamin makes his way down to the ring.
R-Truth is then introduced and he makes his way down to the ring through the crowd.
Match 3: Shelton Benjamin v. R-Truth Bell rings and Benjamin looks at Truth in disgust. They lockup and Benjamin corners Truth. Benjamin breaks the lockup and slowly backs away. They lockup again, but Benjamin grounds Truth. Benjamin then picks Truth up and irish whips him to the ropes, but Truth attacks Benjamin with his flying corkscrew forearm splash. Truth then proceeds to pound Benjamin in the corner. Truth lets Benjamin make it back to his feet. Benjamin charges at Truth and kicks him in his abdomen. Benjamin continues the assault until Truth finds a way to kick Benjamin in the face. Truth irish whips Benjamin, but Benjamin reverses it into a nice T-Bone Suplex. Benjamin then lifts Truth up and connects with a nice backbreaker into a bow. Truth breaks the hold, but soon afterwards get caught into a headlock. Crowd chants “R-Truth” Truth battles back with rights, Benjamin releases and punts him in the ribs. A whip to the corner and Truth hits hard and falls to the mat. Truth battles back again, uppercuts and knees, Benjamin with a knee and tosses Truth to the corner, be blocks that and to the mat they go and Benjamin with shots to the back of the head and into a camel clutch variation. Truth to his fee, elbows out, off the ropes and a sleeper by Benjamin. Jawbreaker by Truth, sidekick to the gut and the ax kick misses. Benjamin grabs Truth for a German Suplex, but Truth reverses it into a front roll for the win.
Post-Match: R-Truth rolls out of the ring and celebrates up the ramp as Benjamin looks on in shock.
(Match Rating: 3.5/5. A really good bout here. I guess this makes R-Truth in line for the US Title now).

Shawn Michaels talks about Hurricane Ike and how to aid in the relief effort. (This is a lot more serious when one actually experiences one in person)
Jeff Hardy’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring and grabs a microphone. He says he has been with the company, on and off for 10 years. It hasn't all been smooth and he is known as a reckless risk taker, your charismatic enigma. He normally isn't bothered by what people say because he is confident, but Triple H made him think. He said I always miss the brass ring, that I never have had the big one. Jeff was angry but says that Triple H was helping to motivate him and make him better. Good job Triple H you fired me up and made me better. At No Mercy I will reach for your WWE championship. As far as Vladimir Kozlov goes, he wants competition and last week you attacked me from behind instead of facing him like a man.
The Brian Kendrick (with Ezekiel) interrupts and says that Jeff has forgotten about him and that he’s got a bigger fish to fry. Jeff said that he beat him last week to become the #1 contender. Kendrick responds by saying that last week was not the proper platform for him to show off his skills. But tonight it’s one on one, unless Jeff has some "extra curricular activities" to do like Triple H always mentions. Jeff smiles and we are set for our next match.
Match 4: Jeff Hardy v. The Brian Kendrick As the bell rings, Jeff wastes no time in attacking Kendrick with various moves such as a slap, hip toss and numerous kicks. Finally the referee pulls Jeff off of Kendrick. Jeff then tries a powerbomb, but Kendrick backdrops Jeff and tosses him to the floor.
-Commercial-
Back, we see Kendrick in control with a half Boston Crab applied. Jeff gets the ropes, so Kendrick kicks him in the head a few times. A basement dropkick by Kendrick and a cover for 2. Snap mare, kicks to the back and back to the single leg crab goes Kendrick. A break by Kendrick, looks for the hold again and Jeff with the mule kick, that was awkward. Corner dropkick by Jeff, he stops Kendrick from escaping, counters and a gourd buster suplex by Jeff gets a close 2. Kendrick tries to stop Jeff from going up top, off the ropes and a kick to the face by Kendrick. Kendrick Irish whips Jeff and he looks for the whisper in the wind, but Ezekiel stops him by standing near the turnbuckle. This allows Kendrick to try The Kendrick, but Jeff turns that into a backslide for the win.
Post-Match: Jeff runs around the ring to celebrate his victory as Kendrick and Ezekiel look on in disbelief.
Jeff continues his celebration up the ramp way and as he turns around, Vladimir Kozlov comes out of nowhere and drills Jeff with a boot to the face. Crowd Boos!
(Match Rating: 3/5. An okay match that could have been better. Kendrick isn’t a bad superstar wrestling wise.)
Backstage, Big Show approaches Vickie and he tells her that he has just seen the Undertaker. This “Undertaker” guy (camera angle) approaches them, but Vickie demands he bow down, kiss her feet, and apologize. And so, the “Undertaker” does. It then turns out that “Undertaker” was Chavo Guerrero all along. They joke about it and have a laugh.

Just a reminder, be sure to catch the WWE SmackDown! 1-2 Punch starting October 2nd with the television premiere of WrestleMania 24!!
Back, we see the ring is set up for Carlito’s Cabana.
Carlito does a mic check, Primo as well and they welcome us to the Cabana. Carlito says it was happy for him to return to Smackdown last week, but even better to tag with his baby brother last week, Primo. Primo says it was easy last week to get his first victory, because he thought the competition would be tougher. He says they will become champions, and that is cool. Carlito says not to steal his lines, and they argue over who's show it is and Ryder and Hawkins come to the ring.
Gregory Helms pops in (in a small box) and makes fun of Ryder and Hawkins.
The champs say that Carlito and Primo got lucky, and Carlito asks who they are. The champs introduce themselves, and Carlito and Primo laugh at them. "REALLY?" Carlito then says if they are the champions, then they should have a tag title match right here and now. The champs deny them, and Primo says people at least know who he and his brother are. Ryder and Hawkins mention hanging with Edge and La Familia, and then Carlito has to stop Primo from saying bad words in Spanish, I guess. The champs agree to a tag title match next week.
Carlito goes to wrap up the show, and here come Jesse and Festus. The champs attacks Carlito and Primo, Jesse hits the ring and Primo sneaks out to ring the bell and the champs get tossed to the floor. Festus chases them with a palm tree.
Carlito and Primo make it back to their feet and proceed to toss apples to the crowd.
(Segment Rating: 3.5/5. A very good segment to say the least. The comedy was a nice touch as well.)
Backstage, Maria is sketching when Brie Bella walks in. Maria talks about how she makes her own clothing and Brie asks her if she can make two for her just in case something should happen to one of them. Victoria and Natalya walk in and they say they will find out Brie’s secret of what she has been doing under the ring. The heel divas rip Maria’s sketches and walk out.

Scotty Goldman comes out and mocks Great Khali.
This leads Khali with Ranjin Singh to come out and we have an official match.
Match 5: Scotty Goldman v. The Great Khali As the bell rings, Goldman tries to take the big man down from the legs, but eventually is clobbered down. Khali proceeds to connect with a series of knee strikes in the corner and eventually hits the Khali bomb for the win.
(Match Rating: 1/5. As you may all know, I’m not a fan of jobber matches.)
JR and Tazz inform us that next week Great Khali will take on Vladimir Kozlov. (I will hold my breath before I say this may actually be a good one).
JR and Tazz discuss the great ratings SmackDown! has had in the past few weeks.
RAW Rebound is shown: Chris Jericho survives the Steel Cage Match against CM Punk.
-Commercial-
Back, we see Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins and Bam Neely talking in Chavo’s locker-room. Chavo comes in and tells them that he wants them to leave, because he wants to watch Big Show’s assault on the Undertaker from Unforgiven one more time. They all leave and Chavo press’s play. The video rolls, but towards the end, the video messes up and Undertaker appears on the TV Screen. Chavo looks confused and a GONG is heard. Chavo turns around and Undertaker chokes Chavo and he slowly passes out as another GONG sounds to send us to commercial.

“Time to Play the Game!” hits and Triple H makes his way down to the ring for our main event!
Shortly thereafter, MVP makes his way down to the ring.
Main Event: Triple H v. MVP The bell rings and Triple H doesn't seem impressed with MVP as they lock up. MVP manages to get in a side headlock, but the Game backs him off and Irish Whips him off the ropes only to be knocked down by a shoulder block. MVP boasts and they go at it again and MVP once again gets the better of Triple H by connecting with a hip toss. MVP boasts once more as lockup for a third time. MVP attempts a side headlock, but eventually gets knocked off his feet by a power clothesline. The King of Kings then gives MVP a DX-Crotch chop much to the crowds delight. As MVP gets back up, Triple H hooks the nose and then punches MVP right in the face. MVP is frustrated and gets right back up and charges at Triple H, but the Game reverses it into a drop toehold. Triple H then applies a headlock as we go to our final break.
-Commercial-
Back, we see MVP has control of the match. He is working the left arm, rights by Triple H but MVP gets a face buster Triple Hstyle and covers for 2. MVP continues to work the left arm with an Anderson-style arm bar, to the mat and drops the knee to the shoulder. MVP covers for 2 as Triple H got a foot on the rope. MVP back to the arm, drops back with the key lock, tried to wrap the legs but Triple H blocks that. Triple H works to his feet, powers out but MVP with a knee to the gut. MVP is right back on the arm, a hammerlock know and, shoots a half nelson and covers for 2. MVP maintains the arm bar, rights to the arm and Triple H is back to his feet. Rights to MVP, he looks to escape but MVP takes him back down with the arm bar. Triple H once again works up to his feet, overpowers MVP, escapes but takes a knee. Off the ropes, reversal and a boot to the face by MVP followed by a single arm DDT that gets 2. MVP with a clothesline to the back of the head, sets and charges in for the Kawada kick but eats a Harley Race knee from Triple H. Rights by Triple H, neck breaker follows and then more rights by Triple H. Off the ropes, face buster by Triple H and then a charging clothesline gets 2. An Irish whip, boot by MVP, charges at Triple H but he catches him with the Double A Spinebuster. MVP rolls to the outside Triple H follows in hot pursuit. The two brawl and MVP slams Triple H off of the announce table. MVP tosses Triple H back in the ring and goes up top. As he jumps off, Triple H kicks MVP and hits the Pedigree for the 1-2-3.
Post-Match: Triple H celebrates his win until Vladimir Kozlov’s music hits. He makes his way down to the ring and he and Triple H have a staredown. MVP tries getting back into the ring, but Triple H punches him off the apron. Kozlov sees the opportunity and strikes the Game from the back. Triple H tries fighting back, but eventually his headbutted in the abdomen. Triple H is knocked out and Kozlov celebrates as SmackDown! goes off the air…
(Match Rating: 3.5/5. Though this match seemed slow and times, the end proved to be a bit refreshing. The Kozlov assault is really interesting and shouldn’t be over looked at all.)
Quick-Match Results: -Match 1: Michelle McCool def. Maryse (Divas Championship) -Match 2: Ryan Braddock def. Festus via DQ -Match 3: R-Truth def. Shelton Benjamin -Match 4: Jeff Hardy def. The Brian Kendrick -Match 5: The Great Khali def. Scotty Goldman -Match 6: Triple H def. MVP
Smack of the Night: Triple H vs. MVP
Impact of the Night: Vladimir Kozlov’s headbutt to The Game!
Overall, tonight’s show was a good one. The next few weeks on SmackDown! should be real interesting considering the “Big Move” on October 3rd. Final Rating: 7.5/10. (Good! B).
