* The TNA Cross the Line tour came to the Palmer Civic Center in Danville on June 21st. Kurt Angle and Booker T were advertised but did not appear. This was the second wrestling appearance at the Civic Center this year following a Raw show in March, but only the third show since 1991 (WCW). The crowd was at best 500 (3,500 cap) and had to be disappointing on many levels especially since the Raw show was a sell out.
(1) Truth or consequences Creed over Johnny Devine: Not a bad opener, and TC Creed does a passable James Brown impression. Very few people knew who he was but a good USA chant still broke out.
(2) Roxy over Velvet Sky with post match appearance by ODB: Decent match with Roxy being way over. Velvet is really an amazing looking young lady and not a bad wrestler for her size. Roxy got the pin in about 10 min then Velvet attacked her from behind. ODB stormed the ring and took out Velvet to a nice pop.
(3) Super Eric Young over Kip James: Young donned the mask and took the win over James again in about 10 minutes. Decent back and forth match and James is in very solid shape. He put out a great effort which he should be applauded for. Biggest pops of the match were for Youngs mask change and a series of DX chops from James.
(4) Shark Boy mic segment: Shark boy comes out to a decent pop, asks for a few shell yeah's, and then kicks the bass of the matchmaker. Somewhere SCSA must be laughing his bass off.
(5) Curryman and Traci Brooks over Jacquline and James Storm: Storm did some really funny pre-match mic work on the difference between the teethbrush and the toothbrush. I saw Jackie wrestle Trish Stratus in 2001 and she's still got it. Mostly comic relief but not bad. Ms. Brooks isn't the cutest woman in wrestling but she is really put together and seemed to be having a genuine good time.
Intermission
(6) Robert Roode over Kaz with interference from James Storm: Solid but kinda short match that turned on interference from Storm. Really was kinda like watching Rick Rude wrestle Stevie Richards in away but still a decent match. Both of these guys would seem to have bright futures.
(7) Samoa Joe and AJ Styles over Scott Stiener and Petey Williams: This was billed as the first teaming of Joe and Styles though I would swear it wasn't. Anyhow Styles really was trying hard which is more than can be said for the other three. This one looked mailed in and ended with a double pin. A real waste of the talents of Williams. Given the crowd size I don't blame them but for a main event it was disappointing.
* Card ran exactly 2 hours with the intermission with perhaps an hour total of actual action. Would have liked to see more but wasn't disappointed for a 20.00 ticket. Joe and Styles posed for pics in the ring for about 30 min after the match (at 20.00 a pop) but that was still nice. Several wrestlers came out to do autograph's and I got Velvets (woo hoo). I would go to another TNA show but given the crowd I doubt they will come back to this area. Its worth noting the show was very, very poorly promoted.
Biggest Pops
(1) Styles (2) Joe (3) Shark Boy
Most Heat:
(1) Storm (2) Roode (3) Devine
