OVW TV Review 6/21

Show opened up with Ironman Rob Conway lacing up his boots and Buck walking in to smash a locker and yell about how he couldnt stop thinking about last week. Conway kept his cool and cut a pretty serious but Conway style promo about how he expects that since he has one half of the most prestigious titles in wrestling today. He says he is mad and he's going to show it later tonight and urges Buck to keep his cool and that lockers dont hit back. Serena and TNA's ODB are shown drinking after Six Flags and reminiscing about their history and how their BFFs. Serena asks ODB for one more match at Six Flags and ODB excepts.
RUDY SWITCHBLADE def. SUPERGLOVES- I like Rudy, but to think they can't find someone else to be in there with other then a luchador called Supergloves. I don't get it. Do his gloves have some sort of magical power? If you're going to be a masked wrestler then put some pride into it. Rudy has some of the best offense in OVW. They did a few lucha libre moves and Rudy won with his frogsplash.
JMan cut a promo in a suit about how the fans had turned on him and he was justified for putting Joey Matthews out of OVW. J-Man is slowly becoming unliked by OVW as Joey is starting to be cheered. The Frat Pack were shown backstage and came out a few times during the night to scout potential recruits.
JD Michales is interviewed by Stephanie backstage, until once again interrupted by the Mobile Homers. Ted McNailer and JD get into words and JD tells McNailer how he's going to do to him what the show does whenever he's on and that's hit a ratings spike. Al Barone is featured in a vignette thats Black and White with him speaking Italian claiming how hed rather live like a lion for a day then like a lamb his entire life. I can see how Al Barone was considered to be Santinos bodyguard.
APOC & VAUGHN LILAS def. JOSH LOWRY & DARRIEL KELLY - Apoc and Lilas are the tweeners of OVW. Apoc comes out to Devils Reject Music which works for him. Lowry and Kelly are a new upstart team but seem really new. Lilas and Apoc brutalized Kelly until Apoc hit his reverse DDT for the victory. NICK DINSMORE def. JAMES THOMAS - Another win for Dinsmore against someone who had zero chance. Dinsmore won with a cloverleaf again. After the match, Bravado came and cut the best promo of the night saying how Dinsmore has no heart and handpicks his opponents. Bravado claims he trains more in a day then Dinsmore does in his life. Bravado challenges him for the title next week and Nick Excepts. THE INSURGENCY def. LUMPY MAGOO & ROBBIE EVEREST- Lumpy Magoo does a complete nerd gimmick complete with bowtie. At first I thought he was a barber. Insurgency destroyed the other team and won with their patented camel clutch.
OVW TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP: JD MICHAELS (C) def. TED "THE TRAILER" MCNALER - Another stellar performance by JD. Ted is pretty good too, but looks like the fans sitting in the audience. JD hit the ratings spike for the win.
SCOTT CARDINAL def. SHILOH - Cardinal came out with Dirty Money his new lackee. Cardinal beat up Shiloh and even hit a ridge hand which I havent seen in awhile. Cardinal won with a Roll the Dice move as it seems that he has a new finisher every single week.
OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: THE MEN OF IRON (C) def. THE WAR PARTY Men of Iron continue to get cheered relentlessly. The Men of Iron squashed the War Party for a few minutes before Conway hit the Ego Trip for the win. Post match saw Cardinal/Money and the Insurgency surrond the ring with Buck and Conway using their belts as equalizers.
Overall: A lot of future storylines were set for this one. Anthony Bravado may be a good future champion as he is the look and size of one. His promo made me a fan of him tonight, and I think he's way more then just a bodybuilder guy now. Personally, I want to see him beat Nick and spicen up the championship a bit. Brewski is another bluechipper of OVW, I could see Brewski vs Bravado in future main events. Men of Iron still continue to be the most popular fan favorites in OVW. OVW literally has the most established tag team division in the world. I still think it's just a matter of time before the MOI appear on WWE or TNA programming. The next six flags features Armando Estrada as their special guest and I think Shelton Benjamin is the week following.
