Smackdown Results 6/13/08 - Animal Banished?

Please excuse my absence for the last few weeks due to testing and a family road trip. Hopefully this report will make up for the loss.
Hello and welcome to the report that states the up and up on the greatest show on cable television on Friday nights, Friday night Smackdown! I’m the Smackdown! reporter Christopher Huynh here to give you the viewers information on what happened on Friday night Smackdown! Beginning Segment:
The show starts off with Vickie Guerrero in the ring with the contract signing table in the center of the ring. She welcomes everyone to the show and introduces Batista. The crowd goes crazy and Batista enters the ring. Vickie welcomes Batista and tells him to take a seat. Batista pushes the chairs out of the way. Vickie states that she is looking forward to Night of Champions because Batista will face up against Edge. She states that Edge has already signed the contract. She then states that since she is the GM she will sign the contract next. The crowd starts to chant you suck and Vickie starts to complain. Vickie then states that if Batista is to sign this the match will be official. She then states that she is aware that her attorney reviewed the contract this morning but then she added an additional entry to the contract that states that he must defeat Khali tonight before becoming the number one contender. He then states that he expected as much and that he defeat Khali once and he will do it again. He then goes on to state the only thing uglier than the beating he is going to give Edge at Night of Champions is Vickie. She then states that she added a second amendment that if he were to lose tonight’s match against Khali then he like the Undertaker will be banished from the WWE.
Overall Segment Rating: The segment sets up a match for tonight and gets the championship match at Night of Champions official. The segment gets 7.5 out of 10 stars.

Finlay accompanied by Hornswoggle head to the ring for the first match.
**They run a video footage of last Friday night when Finlay and Hornswoggle tell Miz and Morrison that they want the WWE tag team titles.**
John Morrison accompanied by the Miz heads to the ring for the match
Match #1: Finlay vs. John Morrison
The match starts with both men locking up. Finlay gets Morrison in the corner but Morrison returns the favor and they break up the lock. Finlay starts to gain the advantage with a few fists and gets a quick pin for two. Finlay whips Morrison on the ropes but Morrison gets out of the ring. Morrison then tries to plan some strategy with the Miz but Finlay starts to grab Morrison by the hair. Finlay goes onto the outside mat but Morrison pulls his legs and down goes Finlay. Morrison starts to work on Finlay some and then throws him inside the ring. Finlay rolls out as Morrison gets in. Morrison attempts to dive out and knock Finlay down but Finlay lifts up the apron and Morrison rides in pain as Finlay starts to throw a few fists to Morrison’s back. Miz tries to come up from behind and knock Finlay out with a clothesline but Finlay ducks down and throws Hornswoggle at Miz. Finlay starts to work on Morrison in and out of the ring. Finlay gets to the top rope and Morrison hits a flexible kick to Finlay’s head and down goes Finlay out of the ring. Morrison goes out and puts Finlay back into the ring. Morrison goes for the pin and only gets a two count. Morrison then locked in a headlock and Finlay starts to struggle. Finlay gets to a vertical base and then drops his head on Morrison’s jaw. Finlay seems as if he is about to gain some momentum but Morrison quickly stops this and locks in a headlock. Finlay gets to a vertical base and starts to gain some momentum with a few fists and Morrison tries to stop this sudden rise of momentum with a kick to Finlay’s head but Finlay gets back up for a clothesline to Morrison. Finlay then goes for the pin and only gets a two count. The camera locks in to a side view which shows Miz messing with Hornswoggle outside of the ring. Finlay tries to stop the Miz but Morrison comes up from behind and rolls Finlay up for the 1…2…3!
The winner of the match is John Morrison!
Overall Match Rating: The match was really interesting and pretty fun to watch. The match gets 3 out of 5 stars.

We cut backstage and Edge is getting interviewed. The backstage announcer asks Edge about Batista’s match tonight. Edge goes on to state that he will beat Batista at Night of Champions and that the video footage of Batista is a great way to remember him the same way they will remember another superstar he banished.
Punk comes on from out of nowhere and hints to Edge that he might cash in Money in the Bank at Edge’s wedding.
Mark Henry heads to the ring for his match.
**They run some video footage of Mark Henry talking about how he will demolish Big Show if he gets in his way**
Tommy Dreamer heads to the ring for the second match of the night
Match #2: Mark Henry vs. Tommy Dreamer
They lock up and Henry pushes Tommy in a corner. Henry then gets Dreamer stuck in a corner but Dreamer throws some fist to get out. Henry however gives some of his own and down goes Dreamer. Henry then starts to choke Dreamer our near the ropes. Henry then lifts him up and front slams him to the mat. Henry starts to talk some smack to Dreamer and smacks him in the head. Dreamer crawls to a corner and Henry throws a huge fist to the head. Henry then whips Dreamer into another corner and hard. Henry then rushes at Dreamer but Dreamer lifts up the elbow and starts to throw some fists. Dreamer then goes up against the rope and tries to get Henry down. Dreamer then tries to go for the DDT but Henry lifts him up for the world’s strongest slam. Henry goes in for the pin and gets the 1…2…3!
The winner of the match is Mark Henry!
Overall Match Rating: The match was basically a squash match. The match gets 2 out of 5 stars.
We cut backstage and Edge interrupts Vickie backstage and he starts to complain to Vickie about how he just heard Punk saying that he might cash in the Money in the Bank on the wedding day. MVP then comes in and starts to state that he needs to renegotiate his contract. Vickie states that she will consider it if MVP takes care of Punk tonight.

**Smackdown rebound shows how Natalya winning the star on the pole match**
Maryse heads down to the ring for her match.
Cherry goes down for the third match of the night.
**They run some video footage of how Cherry lost against Maryse three weeks ago***
Match #3: Maryse vs. Cherry
Cherry starts the attack on Maryse and Maryse hides out in the corner. Maryse gets in a cheap shot but Cherry head butts her in the mid section and starts to pound on her. Cherry is pulled away from Maryse and Maryse tries to get in another cheap shot but Cherry knocks her down. Maryse starts to gain momentum in the later of the match and locks in a side headlock on Cherry. Cherry gets to a vertical base but Maryse quickly stops her and continues the lock. Cherry starts to elbow her way out but Maryse rams her into a corner. Maryse then whips cherry into another corner. Cherry starts to get out of the corner but Maryse rolls her up quickly. Maryse gets a quick 2 count but Cherry gets up and hits a DDT for the 1…2…3!
The winner of the match is Cherry!
Overall Match Rating: Pretty good diva’s match. Had great action and went both ways. The match gets 3 out of 5 stars.
**They run a video footage of Khali’s destruction of other WWE superstars**
We see that MVP is walking out for his match which is next!

MVP heads to the ring to face up against Punk
Punk heads to the ring for the fourth match of the night.
Match #4: MVP vs. CM Punk
The match starts off with both men locking up. Punk gets from behind and gets MVP back to the ground. MVP gets to a vertical base but Punk gets him back down. MVP tries to get to the ropes but Punk rolls him up for a quick 2 count. They lock up again and Punk pulls MVP head to the mat and locks in a headlock. MVP reverses the hold and Punk struggles to get out. MVP then gets up and takes Punk down again. MVP gets a quick pin while in the hold for a 2 count. Punk reverses the headlock into a headlock with his legs. MVP gets out quickly and locks in another headlock. Punk pushes him off and Punk gets a heel kick to the face of MVP. He goes for the pin and gets a two. Punk gets a headlock in and starts to press some knees to the back of MVP. Punk gets MVP up and locks in a side headlock. MVP gets out and gives a fist to the head and the back. MVP lifts him up for a back suplex and gets a 2 count. He then quickly goes in for another pin for a two. MVP then starts to lock in an arm lock on MVP. Punk however turns this around to an arm lock. MVP tries to roll out of it with no avail. MVP gets out eventually and clothesline punks to the ground. MVP pushes the boot to the head and gets a quick pin for two. MVP then locks in an arm bar and Punk gets to a vertical base. Punk starts to throw some fists to MVP’s face. MVP then hits a fist to Punk’s head and he goes down. MVP goes for the pin and gets a two count. The match continues with MVP working on Punk a little bit and locks in another variation of an arm lock. Punk gets out and gets a quick pin for two. Punk then gets MVP in a sitting position and kicks him in the back of the head. He goes for the pin for a two count. Punk starts to gain some momentum and gets a quick pin for 2. MVP gets up and gains little momentum and drops the elbow but Punk rolls out of the way and the match continues. Punk lifts MVP up and whips him to the ropes .MVP kicks him in the face. MVP whips Punk into a corner and hits an elbow. MVP goes for another but Punk moves out of the way. MVP throws Punk into the pole for three times in a row and goes to the outside and throws Punk’s arms into the pole.

We return to see that MVP is pinning Punk for a two count and starting to pound on him. MVP then uses the knee to Punks arm. MVP then locks in an arm lock and Punk is struggling. Punk reverses the hold for a quick two count pin. MVP gets up and hits a boot to the head of Punk. MVP then goes back to lock in another arm lock. MVP while applying the hold chops Punk’s shoulder area. Punk screams in pain and gets to a vertical base. Punk uses his knees to get out and gets MVP in the corner. Punk tries to whip him into another corner and MVP kicks Punk on the injured arm. MVP goes for the pin to get a two count. MVP tries for the boot but Punk counters. Punk then uses his legs to gain the advantage and gain a pin attempt for a two count. Punk tries to whip MVP in the corner but that gets reversed but Punk comes back and uses the legs for another pin attempt for a two count. Punk again hits another drop kick and gets a two count. Punk gets to the top rope and MVP gets up and drop kicks the top rope which slows Punk down. MVP gets on top of the top rope but Punk starts to pound MVP out of the corner. Punk dives off the top rope but MVP lifts the boot up which hits Punks arm. MVP unwraps a turnbuckle corner which the referee stops him. MVP goes over to grab the suitcase and Punk hits a running knee attack to MVP in the corner and grabs the case back. The referee sees Punk holding the case and MVP knocked out. The referee calls for the bell.
The winner of the match is MVP by DQ!
Overall Match Rating – The match was very exciting and was a very long match to call. It had a lot of action and it met my standards for a great match. The match gets 3.5 out of 5 stars.
**They run some video footage of Edge winning the world title at One Night Stand**

Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely are in the ring and he welcomes Matt Hardy to the ring stating that he will face him at Night of Champions for the US Title.
Matt Hardy heads to the ring for his match.
Chuck Palumbo rides into the arena for the fifth match of the night.
Match #5: Chuck Palumbo vs. Matt Hardy
The match starts with both men locking up. Hardy locks in a side headlock and Palumbo pushes him off. Hardy tries to get Palumbo off his feet but Palumbo seems to stand still. They lock up again and Hardy clings onto Palumbo from behind. Palumbo manages to get him off and Palumbo starts to work on him. The match continues and Palumbo hits a giant slam to Hardy and gets a quick pin for a two count. Palumbo locks in a headlock and Hardy tries to get out. Hardy gets to a vertical base but Palumbo hits a clothesline and gets a pin for a two count. Hardy manages to get some momentum and gets Palumbo into a corner. Palumbo however pushes Hardy out of the way and climb to the top rope. Palumbo dives off but Hardy moves. The match continues with Hardy delivering a side effect. Hardy goes for the pin but gets a two count. Hardy sets up a twist of fate on Palumbo and gets the 1…2…3!
The winner of the match is Matt Hardy!
Overall Match Rating – The match was mostly controlled by Palumbo but nonetheless the match was great. The match gets 3 out of 5 stars.
Chavo gets on the mic and states that the winner of the match is Matt Hardy but he is to lose to Chavo at Night of Champions.
**They run a promo of Batista beating HHH for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 21**
We come back and they run a video footage of the million dollar mania this past Monday on Monday night Raw.
Eve Torres backstage asks Vladimir if he is afraid of the tougher roads ahead. He starts to speak in his native language and thanks her.

Jesse and Festus head to the ring for their tag team match.
Deuce and Domino head to the ring to confront their opponents for the sixth match of the night.
Match #6: Jesse and Festus vs. Deuce and Domino
The match starts with Festus doing the usual and Deuce and Domino run out of the ring. Jesse pushes Festus back into their corner. Jesse takes on Deuce. They lock up and Domino gets Jesse down but Jesse stops him in his tracks. Jesse drops a leg drop and goes for the pin to get a two count. Jesse whips Deuce into a corner and then starts to pound on him. Domino goes in to stop him but Domino gets shoved aside and Jesse gets attacked from behind. Deuce starts to wok on him and Deuce tags in Domino who gives Jesse a leg drop which opens him up. Domino then locks in a headlock and Jesse gets to a vertical base. Domino stops him and tags in Deuce. Jesse fights out with a few kicks to both Deuce and Domino. Deuce and Domino stop Jesse before he can tag in Jesse. The match continues with Domino continuing the pressure on Jesse. Jesse however gets the tag to Festus and he starts to dominate the ring. Festus attempts to hit the flap jack to Domino who turns it into a roll up pin for a two count. Festus then gets Domino down and jumps up and slams all his weight on Domino. He goes for a pin and gets the 1…2…3!
The winners of the match are Jesse and Festus!
Overall Match Rating- The match was overall almost complete domination from both sides, Deuce and Domino dominating on Jesse or Festus coming out of nowhere and completely destroys the ring. The match gets 3 out of 5 stars.
Post Match: Deuce and Domino fight it out.
**They run a promo of Khali locking in the vice grip on Batista in September 2007**
The Great Khali heads to the ring for his match against Batista which is next!

Batista heads to the ring for the main event of the night.
The Great Khali goes to the ring to confront Batista.
Match #7: Batista vs. The Great Khali
The match starts with Khali taking advantage of Batista who is focused on Edge and Vickie on the entrance ramp. Batista however comes back and hits some fists. Khali stops this and gives Batista a few slaps to the chest. Khali eventually big boots Batista out of the ring. Batista climbs up to the side mat and Khali nails Batista with a head butt. Khali heads out of the ring and pushes Batista into the ring. Khali goes for the pin and Batista kicks out. Khali lifts him up and front slams him to the mat. Khali lifts the leg and leg drops him. Khali goes for the pin and gets a two count. Khali lifts Batista up and gets him into the corner. Khali starts to use the elbows and the legs on Batista. Khali attempts to go for a fist but Batista moves out of the way and throws a few fists. Khali gets out and tries to throw him in the corner and gets out of the area to catch a breath. Batista however recovers and gets to the top rope and jumps off onto Khali’s hand. Khali lifts Batista up for the Khali bomb and he goes for the pin for a two count. Khali locks in a nerve hold which Batista manages to get out. Khali attempts a chop but Batista catches it. Khali pushes Batista off but suddenly Batista hits a spear! Batista goes for the pin and gets the 1…2…3!
The winner of the match is Batista!
Overall Match Rating: The match was mostly all Khali up until the end. The match gets 3 out of 5 stars.

Overall Show Rating: Tonight’s show was full of action and excitement. Tonight’s show gets 7 out of 10 stars.
What will Vickie Guerrero do next week to ensure Edge’s victory? Are Finlay and Hornswoggle getting the WWE tag team title shot at Night of Champs? Is Chavo truly the number one contender to the US Title?
