WWE House Show Results from Mexico City 5/24/08

Just for the record: I read on a few news sites that since the tickets were not selling that well there was discounts on them at some point. That is completely false. I attend both shows and there was no discount with both shows almost sold out. I checked the Ticketmaster and the arena's store and the was no discount what so ever. On Friday there were a few VIP tickets available but they run out of them in about two hours.

Saturday May 24th.

Before the show Mickie James got out to meet the crowd and pose with some people.

Match 1: Super Crazy Vs Charlie Hass.

Nice little match and Crazy got the crowd going. In the end Crazy won with top rope Moonsoulth.

Winner by Pinfall: Super Crazy.

Match 2: Divas Tag Team Match: Mickie James and Maria Vs Katie Leah and Beth Phoenix.

Nice match with both teams playing some nice double moves on their opponents. The end came with Mickie pinning Katie Leah after a tornado DDT.

Winners by Pinfall: Maria and Mickie James.

Match 3: Mr. Kennedy VS Paul Burchill.

Mr. Kennedy played a lot with the crowd saying that now he was Mexican in Spanish. The match was not that great and in the end Kennedy won with "The Mick Check".

Winner by Pinfall: Mr. Kennedy.

Trevor Murdoch was making his way to the ring while he was attacked by Lance Cade, Cade took him out with his seated spine buster. Then he asked for real competition which prompted Y2J to come out.

Match 4: Chris Jericho Vs Lance Cade.

Jericho made this match look good while Lance Cade put a good effort into it. The end got Jericho winning with " The Walls of Jericho".

Winner by submission: Chris Jericho.

After the match Jericho got the mic and thanked the crowd for the support, saying it has been a long time since he got to wrestle here as "Corazon de Leon" (Lion hart) Chris Jericho back in 1994, he lived here for about two years.

Next as the most pleasant surprise of the night.

Match 5: Jeff Hardy Vs Paul London.

This was a very hard fought match, a lot of counters and near falls by both men, definitely the match of the night. In the end Paul London went for a shooting start press and missed, opening the shot for Jeff to nail "The Swanton bomb" and the pinfall.

After the match Jeff rose Paul's arm and the crowd thanked both for such a pleasant match.

Winner by Pinfall: Jeff Hardy.

Intermission time.

Match 6: World tag team title match: Carlito and Santino Marella VS Hardcore Holly and Cody Rodes (C).

Nice match with not that much action. Whereas Carlito was cheered before his match last night, tonight he was totally hated by the crowd. In the End Holly pinned Marella with the Alabama Slam.

Winners by Pinfall and Still Champions: Cody Rodes and Hardcore Holly.

Match 7: Street Fight: John Cena Vs JBL.

Before the match JBL started insulting the crowd saying he defeated every famous wrestler from Mexico, even mentioning "Santo". Cool enough, he is not old enough to ever meet him in the ring and in 2006 "Hijo del Santo" beat the living crap out of him in the first ever Smackdown Tour here in Mexico City. John Cena got out and was cheered a lot by the crowd. He chased JBL and the match started. Lots of violence by both but no blood what so ever. In the end Cena Won with the FU.

Winner by Pinfall: John Cena.

Main event: DX Vs Umaga and Snitsky.

Of course, the biggest pop from the crowd as these guys are out just for fun. I mean seriously, the match was like 50% wrestling and 50% entertainment, not that I am complaining, I got a great laugh out of it all.

First Shawn was trying to convince HHH to start up the match because he was the smallest of them all, then Shawn, after been took down by Snitsky, tricked HHH on the tag. HHH locked horns with Snitsky and got out of the ring. He asked Snitsky to brush his teeth and got the crowd going, got some tick tacks from the crowd and offered them to Snitsky, He rejected it, the ref tried to the same result, then Umaga got it and tried himself, with Snitsky almost taking them. The end was also very funny, The lights went out and when they came back, HHH and HBK had DX Masks and started a nice combination that you can see a lot in Mexican Wrestling, They got Umaga and Snitsky out of the ring and called for a dive. Hunter went for it, only to stop at the edge of the ring, cautiously got out ant jump over Umaga. Snitsky was pinned after the "Sweet Chin Music" & Pedigree combo.

Winners by Pinfall: DX.

After the match the unmasked and acted like they didn't knew who was behind each mask.



Biggest Pop:
1. DX.
2. John Cena.
3. Super Crazy/Jericho.
4. Hardy/ Kennedy/ Umaga (when he tried to make Snitsky to take the Tick tack)
5. Mickie James/ Maria.

Biggest Heat:

1. JBL.
2. Santino Marella.
3. Lance Cade.
4. Charlie Hass (He was very good when he locked a target on the crowd treated him)
5. Snitsky and Umaga.

I attended both shows, Saturday and Friday. The only section with empty seats was the last upper level. Almost both shows were sold out and this one was cooler than Friday's show. The most pleasant surprise like I said was the Hardy Vs London Match, Of course everyone knows London can work a match but this one was really cool.
