I attended the WWE Smackdown/ECW house show at Huntington West Virginia on May 10, 2008. Here are the results:

The arena was probably about 7/10's full by the time the show started. A very hot crowd as it always is from start to finish in Huntington. To bad they don't ever do tv events here because the reactions these wrestlers get are always amazing in Huntington. Howard Finkle announced that the main event would be decided by text message. The options were Falls Count Anywhere, Best 2 out of 3 Falls, or No DQ. Of course everyone would pick no DQ.

Match 1: Finlay (with Hornswoggle) & Jamie Noble vs Hawkins & Ryder

Hornswoggle received a huge pop in Huntington. Jamie Noble also received a decent pop but the weird thing was the last show I went to was a Smackdown taping in Cincinnati and Noble and Hornswoggle were feuding for the Cruiserweight belt. I remember a lucky charms incident or something. But in any event a decent tag team match that ran about 10 to 15 minutes saw Hornswoggle distract the referee long enough for Finlay to get the win with the shilaley (however you spell it). After the match Hornswoggle threw his hat to a kid in the 5th row. The kids love this guy.

    Winners: Finlay & Jamie Noble

Match 2: Ted Dibiase Jr. vs Kofi Kingston

Dibiase Jr. kind of reminded me of Randy Orton, just his look and speed and everything. This was the first time I had seen Kofi and was really impressed with his leaping ability. Thanks Mike Adamale for letting me think Jamacian me crazy all night! The match also went about 10 minutes and saw Dibiase Jr. go for the Million Dollar Dream, only for Kofi to reverse it and hit him with his signature kick to get the win.

    Winner: Kofi Kingston

Match 3: Diva Tag Team Match- Victoria & Natayla vs Michelle McCool & Cherry

Natayla has to be one of the hottest divas in the WWE. She is built like a brick outhouse. sorry for the analogy. But her and Victoria were getting major heat throughout the match. Which puzzles me because who cares about heels or faces in this situation anyway. but onto the match, some good offense from mccool and victoria. The match went 10 minutes or so and saw Cherry get beat with the roll up pin by Natayla. I wander if Neidharts wife was that hot back in the day?

    Winners: Natayla & Victoria

Match 4: Triple Threat Match: Chuck Palumbo vs "Sheldon" Benjeman vs CM Punk

This was an ok match. Great reaction for CM Punk. I think the thing that sticks out in this match were the "You still gay" chants twoards Palumbo. He was really getting some heat. I wanted to start chanting Natural Born thrillers, but I bet only .1 percent knew what I was talking about. Plus who knows what ever happen to above average Mike Sanders. But anyway the match concluded with Palumbo getting knocked out of the ring by Shelton and CM Punk beating shelton with his finisher.

    Winner: CM PUNK

Match 5: The Big Show vs Mark Henry

A huge pop for the Big Show. I don't think I have ever seen this guy more popular. And if you haven't seen him since he has been back he looks great. Totally lost a ton of weight and can carry a match much better than he did before. Of course he was wrestling Mark Henry, and this match of course was boring. but it had some decent spots in it. The match concluded with Show getting the choke slam and the victory. Its very nice to see Mark Henry jobbing to everyone again. It makes me happy because I can't stand to watch the guy wrestle. He has no charisma and is just in the wrong damn business. To use the Hogan analogy, he couldn't draw flys at a flea market. I'm sure hes a nice guy tho.

Winner: The Big Show Paul "The Giant" White

Match 6: MVP vs Matt Hardy for the US TITLE

Matt Hardy is over huge with all fans. A decent match but no real high flying spots by Hardy. You can tell they don't want to get any of these guys hurt at the house shows. Hardy gets the win with the twist of fate and retains the US Title.

    Winner: Matt Hardy Version 10.4

Match 7: The Miz & Morrision vs Jesse and Festus for the World Tag Team Titles

This was by far my favorite match of the night. All four of these guys are entertaining as hell. Watching Festus chase John Morrison around the ring was just some funny stuff and Morrison pointing at fans telling them that all of them are like Festus. All in all it was a good match too. The Miz has improved a hundred percent over the past year. This gimmick really fits him and Morrison and they need to exploit it on television more by actually putting the Dirt Sheet on ECW TV. Good spots and entertaining wrestling in this match. The match concludes with Morrison getting the victory over Festus.

Winners : Morrison & The Miz

Main Event: Edge vs The Undertaker in a no dq match

To see the Undertaker in Huntington completely shocked the hell out of me. I've been a taker fan since the early days and never turn down a chance to see the man in person. Edge came out to some serious heel heat and Taker got the pop of the night ( no surprise there) It was funny watching the Taker come out with the lights on and no fancy smoke though. But still the man has a presence that can't be topped nor will ever be topped. The match was a typical Undertaker, Edge match. A failed Last Ride attempt, A spear kickout, a Hawkins & Ryder run in, the old school off the top rope. The only difference is that this match saw Taker get the victory with the Tombstone. Its always worth the price of admission to see the taker.

    Winner: The Undertaker

Overall I was impressed with the show. A lot of star power in Huntington tonight which you don't usually see when WWE comes here. I think the only person that didn't show up that was advertised was Batista. And to be honest I can't stand the guy so I could have cared less if he was there or not. Very entertaining show and it always helps when the crowd gets into the matches. It beats anything else to do around here on a Saturday. Well just about anything.
