WWE Releases 2 More Wrestlers Including an ECW Original

ECW star Balls Mahoney was officially released by World Wrestling Entertainment this afternoon. WWE.com wished him well in his future endeavors. Mahoney was one of the few remaining ECW originals still with the company. He was hired for the relaunch of the ECW brand in 2006 and was only used on television a few times since then.

The company also released developmental talent Michael Thompson today, according to PWInsider.com. Thompson was training at Florida Championship Wrestling. WWE was hopeful that his football background would give him an edge in his wrestling training, but they were not satisfied with his progress.

With 3 developmental stars getting released last week and now Dave Taylor, Balls Mahoney and Michael Thompson today, spring cleaning is in full effect.
