Good Evening everyone to the show that's changing Friday nights, Friday night Smackdown! I'm your Smackdown reporter Christopher Huynh to give you the report on one of the greatest wrestling shows on television. Now without further wait lets get down to the Smackdown!
Smackdown is brought to you from the great city of Chicago, Illinois!
Smackdown video package airs and fireworks go off as we are off to another exciting night of Smackdown! Cole and Coach informs us that tonight’s main event is a 3 on 2 Handicap Steel Cage match featuring Shawn Michaels & Ric Flair vs. Edge, Zach Ryder, and Curt Hawkins.
Diva competition Segment:
Music plays and it’s none other than Chicago’s own Maria! The crowd goes absolutely crazy. She gives a shout out to all the people and says that she is excited to be apart of the first ever Bunny Mania Lumberjack match at Wrestlemania 24. But tonight, she is going to be the host of the Smackdown! diva contest. She introduces the contestants as Eve Torres, Cherry, Maryse, Victoria, and Michelle McCool. Maria said unfortunately the diva with the fewest votes must be eliminated this week. Maryse was the surprise loser this week. They walk down the ramp to an obstacle course that is already set up and Maria gives the instructions: The quickest diva to complete the obstacle course wins! In the end, Michelle McCool won with 23 seconds. Maria then tells the people to text in your votes to determine who will move onto the weeks ahead.
Segment rating: This is a pretty good segment and it was very entertaining. Segment gets 7 out of 10 stars. Don' forget to vote for your favorite diva!
Backstage, we see Shawn Michaels approach Ric Flair. Flair thanks HBK for coming to Smackdown! and lending a hand. But Flair is worried as he thinks one of them will get injured heading into Wrestlemania. HBK says not to worry and that Flair will get the best of Michaels.

Match 1: Big Show vs. Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore
Moore and Yang jumped Big Show at the start. However, he swatted them both across the ring with his gigantic arms and proceeded to smash them in the corner together. He followed this by chopping them across the chest and eventually tossed Yang across the ring by his head. He tossed Moore upside down into the corner. As Big Show approached Yang in the opposite corner, Yang surprised Big Show with a moonsault press, but Show caught him and dropped him face-first over the top turnbuckle. Big Show then runs to the ropes and shoulder tackles Yang right out of his boots! Big Show proceeded to punch Moore right in the face for the victory.
The winner of the match is the Big Show!
Overall match rating: 2.5/5. Not bad. It’s just good to see Big Show back and add more depth to his matches.
Post-Match: Big Show is walking around the ring looking at the fallen bodies and simply pressed and tossed Wang over the top rope to the floor.

Match 2: Miz vs. John Morrison (Final MITB qualifying match)
Crowd was pretty much dead for the match until Morrison picked up the victory. Match begins with Morrison offering a handshake, but eventually tricking Miz into a pinning predicament. Moments later, Miz regains control of the match and crowd boos him. Weird. However, Morrison manages to hit a reverse back kick catching Miz on his jaw and proceeded to hit his corkscrew neckbreaker for the 1-2-3.
The winner of the match is John Morrison
Overall match rating: 2.5/5. Another decent match, but the crowd didn’t know which heel to cheer for.
Michael Cole & Coach then shows us the previews of the Finlay/JBL/Hornswoggle rivalry and then introduces us to Finlay who is standing backstage for an interview.
Finlay asked how he'd put his feelings into words if that happened to his son. His voice cracked as he said there's no way to explain what it's like to watch your son lie in a hospital bed for something he didn't do. He said Hornswoggle is getting better, "but he'll never be the same, and that's something I have to live with the rest of my life." He said the beating he'll give JBL is something you can't put into words.
We are then set for our next match. Justin Roberts says that the next match is set for one fall in which there are no countouts, no DQ and is set to be a No Holds Barred Match for the United States Championship. Crowd goes nuts!
MVP’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring in his cocky attitude.

Match #3: MVP vs. Batista for the U.S Championship
Baista outpowered MVP in the opening minute as the fans chanted cheered him on, so MVP bailed out and to ringside to a chorus of boos. MVP snapped his headband at Batista in the ring, and then slid back in himself. Moments later, Batista caught MVP mid-air at ringside and smashed him back-first into the ringside barrier. Back in the ring MVP took control after punching Batista with a chain. Then he choked him with the chain. MVP stripped a middle turnbuckle of the pad. Batista blocked MVP's attempt to ram his head into it, then powerslammed MVP for a two count. He followed up with a spinebuster, then sets up a Batista Bomb. MVP rolled out of the ring for a breather. Batista promptly followed. MVP grabbed a folding chair and jabbed Batista in the gut, then swung at him. Batista ducked and the chair hit the ringpost. Batista slammed MVP face-first into the announce table, then pounded away at his head, and then threw him into the ringpost. MVP fired back by ramming Batista into the ringpost. Batista however didn’t stay down for long as he reversed MVP face-first into the announce table. But, MVP fired back with a running big boot at ringside.

MVP picked up a chair, but Batista speared him before he could use it. Batista threw a limp MVP back into the ring and made the cover. MVP kicked out at two-and-a-half. MVP caught a charging Batista with an extended boot. Batista immediately fired back with the same. MVP reversed Batista into the ringside steps, and then planed his next move. He tore up the mat ringside revealing the concrete. Batista however back-dropped MVP onto the exposed floor. Then he bashed MVP with a chair across the back and slid the chair into the ring and almost all the way through to the floor on the other side. Batista threw MVP into the ring and went for another pin. MVP kicked out. MVP came back again and rammed Batista head-first into that exposed middle turnbuckle. He jabbed Batista's back with a chair several times, then swung the chair at his skull. Batista blocked it. Batista threw MVP to the floor, but Umaga entered the ring and gave Batista a Samoan Spike. The crowd booed. MVP crawled over to Batista and scored the three count.
The winner of the match and still U.S Champion MVP!
Overall match rating: 4.5/5. It was a very exciting contest between these two athletes. It lasted about 20 whole minutes! In addition, this match helped the Batista/Umaga rivalry in picking up some flare for their encounter at Wrestlemania

Kanes pyro goes off and we are ready for our next match.
Match 4: Jamie Noble & Kane vs. Chuck Palumbo & The Great Khali
Palumbo went on early offense against Kane, but Kane absorbed a flurry of punches and kicks and chops and took Palumbo down with a sudden sideslam followed by a big boot. A eager Noble tagged in and hit a top rope crossbody, despite taped up sore ribs. Palumbo took over immediately with a clothesline. Palumbo tagged in Khali, who crushed Noble's chest with a chop. Khali lifted Noble by his head and slammed him to the mat for the win.
The winners of the match are Chuck Palumbo & The Great Khali
Overall match rating: 2/5 This was painful to watch. I believe the writers could do so much more with Kane especially before Wrestlemania.

We see the cage being lowered for the main event. As this occurs, Cole & Coach talks about the latest inductee for the 2008 Hall of Fame Ceremony, The Briscoes’.
Ric Flair made his way down to the ring.
HBK made his way down to the ring.
Then came out Edge with Ryder and Hawkins, but no Vickie Guerrero.
All 5 men are in the ring and are about to square off when suddenly Vickie comes out. What a surprise. Edge blows her a kiss. Vickie announces that she is adding the ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero into the match.
Match 5: Ric Flair & Shawn Michaels vs. Edge, Curt Hawkins, Zack Rider, and Chavo Guerrero (Steel Cage 4-2 Handicap match)
Match starts and the faces seem to be in control of the match. HBK holds the door shut so that Chavo is unable to enter the ring. However, we must take our final break of the evening.

Back from the break, Chavo climbed into the cage. Anyway, the ring was full of action as everyone was fighting at a rapid-fire pace with 15 minutes left in the show. Flair and Edge exchanged chops on the top rope. Flair knocked Edge to the mat. Flair dropped down and continued the chop fest on Edge. Soon, the four heels took control against the two baby faces. Edge speared Flair. Edge tied Michael’s arms into the ropes, and then beat on Flair four-on-one. Flair bled from his forehead, and then was thrown like a battering ram into the cage head-first. Many minutes later, Michaels finally broke free, but quickly was also overwhelmed by the odds. With Michaels hanging upside down in the corner, Edge speared him. Flair used a low-blow to break free of Edge, then knocked Hawkins and Ryder off the top rope for double-crotches on the top rope. Michaels bounced off the ropes and took Edge down with a flying clothesline. He followed with a reverse atomic drop on Chavo. Then he threw each of the heels into the side of the cage. He climbed to the top rope as the crowd rose. He hit Edge with a top rope elbow. He signaled for Sweet Chin Music by stomping the mat. Edge went for a spear on Michaels, but Michaels moved and Edge speared Chavo instead. Flair gave low blows to two heels, then Michaels and Flair each applied figure-fours mid-ring. Chavo climbed to the top rope and frog splashed Flair and Edge. All six men were down. The door to the cage was opened. Edge crawled toward it. Then the lights went out and Undertaker's bell sounded. When the lights came back on, Undertaker stood in the ring behind Edge. Edge didn't know where he was, but he had a bad feeling. He slowly turned around. Taker grabbed his throat. Hawkins and Ryder double-teamed Taker. Taker ducked their clothesline and gave them a double chokeslam. Edge, meanwhile, climbed the side of the cage to escape. Taker grabbed him. Chavo grabbed Taker. Taker threw Chavo into the side of the cage, then gave him a Tombstone. Edge reached the top of the cage and dropped down to win the match with Taker in hot pursuit.
The winners of the match are Edge, Curt Hawkins, Zack Rider, and Chavo Guerrero
Overall match rating: Another 20 minute match with an interesting finish. This was indeed a well done main event. The match gets a whopping 4.5 out of 5 stars!
Post-Match: Edge celebrates as he walks back up the ramp. Soon everything turns blue and Taker’s music plays and Edge looks worried. Undertaker signals the end is near for Edge and points at the Wrestlemania sign as we come to another finish of Smackdown!
Quick Match Results:
Match # 1: Big Show defeated Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore in a Handicap Match.
Match # 2: John Morrison defeated The Miz to become the final qualifier of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at Wrestlemania.
Match # 3: MVP defeated Batista after Umaga Samoan Spiked the Animal to retain the US Championship.
Match # 4: Chuck Palumbo & Great Khali defeated Kane & Jamie Noble.
Match # 5: Edge, Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins, and Chavo Guerrero defeated Shawn Michaels & Ric Flair in a Handicap Steel Cage Match.
Smack of the Night (Match of the Night): A hard to decide, but I would have to give it to the main event Handicap Steel Cage Match.
Greatest Impact of the Night: This is an easy one. It is no doubt that the shoulder tackle from the Big Show to Jimmy Wang Yang that literally flipped Yang a full 360 degrees. Amazing!
Best Segment of the Night: There was really no segment unless you include the Divas obstacle course in which the crowd seemed to enjoy.
Overall rating of the show: Two superb matches, two decent matches, and one disappointing match. Not bad. Tonight was a pretty good Smackdown! with the specialty matches really making a good impact. Tonight show deserves an 8 out of 10.
What will happen as we move closer to Wrestlemania? How is the animal to retaliate? Which man will bring more momentum into Wrestlemania in the world title picture?
All these questions and more will be answered next week and there’s only one place to figure them out! You’ve got to watch Friday night Smackdown!
